It's hard to gauge the success of a new SingStar when you're on the show floor at a videogames convention, surrounded by a hundreds of fever-fingered journos, serenading yourself through a pair of wonky rubber earphones. It's a scenario so far removed from IGN's usual preferred set-up of squint-eyed drunkeness at one in the morning with a handful of easily led friends that IGN would probably be doing the game a disservice talking about it outside its natural habitat.
But anyway, following the muted fanfare that greeted SingStar Vol. 2 on PS3 – a release of largely redundant magnitude given the arrival of Sony's excellent SingStore – Vol. 3 is ready to flaunt its wares, should anyone really care at this point.
Well the big day is literally a few hours away folks and the Game-Modo crew are getting rather excited for santas visit. What better way to get us into the festive mood than to playing games that get us into the Christmas spirit.

If you get a new game and enjoy it around Christmas time one year, it'll feel like a Christmas time game the year after.
Shenmue 1 and 2 always gets me into the Christmas spirit. I still own them for the Dreamcast and usually play them both every Christmas (Although I haven't this year). The ingame date is around Christmas time (November 29th I think) and it just makes me feel all nostalgic and reminds of me of being a kid again, when I used to get super excited about Christmas.

Games don't get me into the Christmas spirit. Lights, snow, the Christmas service, being with family, Christmas movies.....THOSE put me in the Christmas spirit.

Earlier this year Julian Hill was planning to complete a 24-hour SingStar challenge for charity, specifically raising money for London's Great Ormond Street Hospital as a thanks for the life-saving operation provided to his baby daughter. The great news is that this challenge has now been completed, and Julian shares the good news in his own words.
