Let’s Talk About Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro Singing Karaoke Together

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“People buy in to this relationship between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro because they’re creatives who demonstrate a deep connection between the industry and its cultural heritage. They happily glorify the tangible products of Geekdom; whether that’s through the books, films, Karaoke, or the video games they love.”

I really enjoyed watching these two at DICE 2016, even if we didn't get anything solid about Kojima's next project. The bromance really was palpable, and somehow inspiring.

DarkOcelet3001d ago

It was the best thing about the Summit.

The two are freaking awesome together.

I'm getting really tired of news about Kojima... Seriously... He's just a game designer, he's not Holywood celebrity. It would be okay if we couldn't pass a day without news about him if he actually released some good game, then it would be okay, but like this it looks like pure madness, seriously...
And it comes from me, a huge goddamn MGS, Snatcher and Zone of The Enders fan... Seriously, guys, please, stop posting this everywhere.

Can't say I agree that he isn't a celebrity. Just like Christopher Nolan is a hailed Director in cinema, or Ben Affleck is a hailed actor in cinema, or Eminem in Rap, or Taylor Swift in pop, etc. Hideo Kojima is a celebrity in gaming. This is a gaming centralized news gathering website after all.

I myself really enjoyed the DICE awards, and hearing GDT talk about some goofy thing he did with Kojima, brings a bit of lightheartedness to the anticipation of his next project.

Edit: i didn't see this anywhere aside from live, so I can see where you are a bit tired of seeing it if you check multiple websites for new gaming news

Ugh... Whatever... I'm just really tired of seeing his name all over the place, especially considering how unfulfilling and undeserving of all those 10/10's MGSV was. He should be booed, not celebrated.

Eminem in rap
Taylor Swift in pop

Totally legit

KwietStorm_BLM3001d ago

So because he made one game, amid a hurricane of bullshit, that didn't deserve 10s, in your opinion, he now should be booed, and not celebrated?? For one game? Yea what a great long time fan you are. The reason there's been so much news about him is because we've never seen this happen before. How do you just kick out one of the greatest minds the industry has ever seen? He's a free agent now, so it's like the whole thing when Lebron James first went to Miami. It's a big deal. But you don't have to pay attention to it.

sdcard4gb3001d ago

Yes, he should be booed, in order to actually get better afterwards.
You know what happens when people celebrate somebody too much ? That certain somebody starts to lose grasp on reality, he starts believing that he is awesome himself. And then he thinks that he can do no wrong. And then he does and people deny the reality of the situation themselves, because he is already a authority in their eyes and can do wrong, they'll get defensive and impossible to penetrate with logic.
MGSV is a perfect example: this the first game in the series to have this little character interaction, so much useless grind, microtransactions, no climax, no last boss and basically no ending... And I won't even start on how much the trailers spoiled and lied to us with cutscenes that were never in the final game. This should booed, this should be discussed without any kind of respect for Hideo Kojima and his struggles against KONAMI in mind. The game should stand on it's own.
Here is a bulletproof evidence of how MGSV failed, I have no more "bubbles", but I know that I won't need them after this - https://www.youtube.com/wat...

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast3d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk3d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast3d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk3d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk3d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
