Heavy Rain demo'ed at Sony conference, looks amazing

Quantic Dream's David Cage has just taken through some amazing looking Heavy Rain gameplay at Leipzig.

First he announces that games are no longer for kids and teenagers," saying that no guns, cars, interfaces, puzzles or enemies are in the game. It's all about moral choices, contextual actions and decision making.

You, the player, are both writer and director.

Heavy rain looks like a boring story GAME. No gameplay?

poindat5755d ago

"First he announces that games are no longer for kids and teenagers" ... Like you. It's really sad when there has to be blood and sex for something to be enjoyable to you.

mohib-uddin79865325755d ago

For a game to be fun to me....

It has to be an RPG and have "Final Fantasy" in its name

Drekken5755d ago

Im sure there will be plenty of gameplay in Lips for you.

Doggstyle5755d ago

That's a little too much man.Bloody sex is gross by itself.

saying that no guns, cars, interfaces, puzzles or enemies are in the game.

Then how the hell is it even a video game? Sounds interesting now, lets see the damn trailer.

"wow, I didn't even see that coming...saying that no guns, cars, interfaces, puzzles or enemies are in the game"

If theres no guns how come on that article pic the ladies holding a gun?

Blackmoses5755d ago

How shallow you must be....

no guns to shoot people with, no nut shots from across the map! There is more to gamming and it takes more for a game to succeed than a plasma rifle and some aliens or enemy faction.

Geez, grow up already. Didn't school start back up yet?

The picture is of the original tech demo which was only really to show off an early version of the games engine and the emotion it can produce.

monkey6025755d ago

That is an image for the tech demo shown a while back. It has little or nothing to do with the game itself. The woman in the pic isnt even a character in the final game

Time_Is_On_My_Side5755d ago

The game is very similar to Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) which was a very interesting game to play.

This game and afrika will definately move ps3s just like haze and lair did. Great games to look forward to on ps3 unfortunately we dont have games like gears 2 and fable 2 coming out this year..

dude_uk5755d ago

nice try sak500...

go troll somewhere else

joevfx5755d ago

the lady holding a gun was a tech demo for the game a few years ago. she has nothing to do with the game except on a technology front.

And the game is basically an interactive movie. Everygame doesnt have to be exactly the same to be fun, its about time that there is something different then the 80 billion FPS games out there.

mohib-uddin79865325755d ago (Edited 5755d ago )

I saw some gameplay clips of the guy getting out of the toilet without even wiping his ass and then a cutscene

its looks boring?

Bebedora5755d ago

I still have that game and run it on the PS3. Anyone that read the HellBlazer comics or saw the movie Constantine will understand this game. There is actually very little shooting in those comics/that movie. They were more focused on the choices we make and the consequences with which we have to live. Serious implications.

There are some that may not care for such gameplay but those are not the people attacking the game in this thread. They are either jealous 360 fans lamenting the cold hard truth about Too Human, crying over the reality that MS has now also given up on Europe, and the fact that a game that is not - shoot dumb guy here, me get club to bash - is quite beyond their feeble mental grasp.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1285d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1285d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1284d ago (Edited 1284d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1442d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121442d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1442d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121442d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121442d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
