Play Quantum Break A Month Before Release

IGN:

Quantum Break comes to Xbox One on 5th April, and to make the wait easier, we've teamed up with Xbox to put on a fan event that will allow readers to play the game a month early.

AngelicIceDiamond3000d ago

MS must have a allot of confidence in this game. I never really heard of playing a full AAA game a month before release.

christocolus3000d ago

Definitely.. and i wish i could play it a month before release :)

jb2273000d ago

Doesn't seem like they are letting people play the entire game, just a selected section or two (probably some large ones). Not sure any event could handle the logistics of letting hundreds or even dozens of people play an entire 12+ hour game.

ULTp0ltergeist3000d ago

It's Microsoft and when they're this confident about something I'd be excited.

jb2273000d ago (Edited 3000d ago )

@murk

Never said I wasn't excited, the game looks amazing. It is the top spot in the handful of games that really push me to get an XBO this year. I was only saying that the attendees for this event won't be playing the entire game from back to front & unless I missed something in the article I read that is definitely the case.

These events aren't unheard of though either way, they happen fairly often....as far as MS being confident I'd say their entire marketing ideals have been built around supreme confidence from the minute they stepped foot in the console space...their most recent commercials do all say "Greatest Lineup in Xbox History"

Long story short I don't believe QB will be great because MS says so, I believe it'll be great because Remedy made it.

hells_supernova2999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

Interesting really excited for this game. Looks amazing and I cannot wait to see how it pans out.

Are they still doing the tv show thing? cause I was concerned about that to be honest.

nX2999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

"It's Microsoft and when they're this confident about something I'd be excited."

That must be the funniest comment of the year so far, you must've been hella excited about so many failed MS products.

Also jb227 is completely right here, MS marketing is always "confident" to a point where it's often bordering blind arrogance.

HaydenJameSmith3000d ago

It's smart. You see Movies doing the same thing, having private screenings for fans a couple of weeks before release and then they all go spread the word on how great it is. Ya can't get better press than fans. Most recently Deadpool did that and I believe BvS is doing the same.

FamilyGuy2999d ago

Movie screenings are mostly for critics and actors, not fans.

HaydenJameSmith2999d ago

Deadpool has a Fan Screening event before the movie released and BvS is to a week before it releases to the public.

Volkama2999d ago

You can play Street Fighter 5 at home right now, and that game isn't going to be ready for release until some time over the summer.

BOOM topical humours!

DigitalRaptor2999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

It's not the whole game.

It's giving regular gamers the ability to play a public demo in advance.

Sony has been arranging this kind of event for years, more recently with The Last of Us, where they let you play a good 30-40 minute demo, with snacks et al.
-------

To you disagreers.... are Microsoft and IGN going to let hundreds of people spend 10 hours EACH, playing through the entire game? That is not logistically sound, and if you believe otherwise I'm sorry, but you are damaged. Did Sony NOT do the same thing in the past as I described, and shouldn't you gauging this event based on prior examples of such comparable events? Logic and common sense should bring you to agree, but hey....

You'll be surprise how many PC gamers can not wait to play this game. The Steam and PC community is hyped to play this. Sounds like they have the Rig to play this game especially the hardcore gamers. Wish I could play this early :)

objdadon3000d ago

It's not gonna be on steam, just windows store

ShadowKnight3000d ago (Edited 3000d ago )

I know, I'm just saying a lot of PC gamers can't wait to play this. Last time I checked a few days ago, there was a Quantum Break forum and discussion posted up on there talking about it. And they don't mind buying it on windows store. All they care about is just playing it.

Lamboomington3000d ago (Edited 3000d ago )

Honestly, that is going to lose them quite a few sales...
Hope it does well though.

retrogamer093000d ago

Good thank you guys for investing in the xbox ecosystem and making us money.

ShadowKnight3000d ago (Edited 3000d ago )

Agreed

OpinionSmasher3000d ago

wow even when pc gamers come in peace the fanboys still have to have that last word in the argument. just enjoy games and bitching at each other just because you can

killer_goat3000d ago

How is it making you money?

SniperControl3000d ago

making "us" money??

You work for MS?

XanderZane2999d ago

Right. They are going to make some money off this game. Plus we get to played Alan Wake and the expansion for FREE as well. My XB1 is ready and waiting. Still have a month and a half to wait though.

DigitalRaptor2999d ago

"thank you guys making us money"

Holyyyy crap. Well there's the only confirmation we'll ever need... xD

Is the Steam and PC community not the same thing? Are there non-PC Steam users?

jb2273000d ago

Steam runs on Mac & Linux as well doesn't it?

skratchy3000d ago

Steam is an online community created by Valve...essentially. You can play PC games without Steam.

Volkama2999d ago

Yes! I once met a guy that still buys games on disc.

Well... that was about 5 years ago so he's probably either a Steam gamer, dead, or really pissed off at how hard it is to buy games these days.

n4rc2999d ago

Lol.. Kinda funny that I've been with steam since day one (12+ years now) and only because they forced me to use it or no counterstrike source for me.. Lol

Have literally never bought a thing off it.. But I'm not much of a PC gamer anymore (and I know steam today isn't the steam of a decade ago)

@Shadowknight

PC gamers are not the only gamers that can't wait to play this so are Xbox One gamers and believe it or not PS4 gamers. Heck my buddy is a die hard PS4 gamer and swore to me up and down he would play QB after Uncharted all of a sudden just a few days ago he Pre Ordered it and fully paid for the game already on Xbox One. I also want to say he has a fully capable PC but loves playing with me on Xbox One. Amazing isn't it.

Dark_Crow3000d ago

Sounds like two fellow awesome gamers.
We need more of those in the forums.

jb2273000d ago

PS4 gamer here absolutely dying to play this game. I think it is right up most Sony gamers' alley as most of the best Sony exclusives fall under the Action Adventure sp category, and it is something rare enough on the MS platform that it should draw a huge crowd there as well from gamers thirsty for those kinds of exclusive experiences. Really hoping all of the hype translates to sales for this game, it would only mean that the market as a whole & MS in general will receive more great games of this style, and as my favorite genre these are the games that push me to buy an XBO. Now we just need MS to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to wanting an Uncharted competitor & actually go through with that. Happy gaming on QB, look forward to hearing what you guys have to say about it

ShadowKnight2999d ago

Just realize this game comes out a few days before Dark Souls 3. Hopefully it don't hurt sales.

abstractel3000d ago

MS needs more games like this. That's why I chose the PS4 really, because of the strength of Sony's first party. If MS had more great first party titles, I would already own an Xbox One. I was going to buy one for QB, but whenever there's a PC version I go for that.

Just my personal preference. Say if Uncharted 4 came to PC (I know it never will), I would get it on PC.

I don't care about companies, unless they give me a moral reason to choose one over the other.

Omeganex99993000d ago

The graphics and the gameplay look amazing, I'm sold on that. I don't really like the idea of TV show inside the game though. I'm kinda scared they are trying to put a lot of big names and famous actors to attract the casual community...

Nonetheless, I'm going to buy it, it fits perfectly between The Division and Uncharted 4.

Dark_Crow3000d ago

Agreed about the actors...it worries me a bit.

Alan wake already had a small tv series within the game and it was incorporated beautifully.

Hunkaloverbear3000d ago

I agree I'm abit worried about the live action parts BUT apparently you don't have to watch them at all and you will still know everything that's going on in the game so that fixes things imo

jb2273000d ago

I don't mind the live action as it's skip able, but the only thing that would worry me is whether or not they spent funds they could've spent on the game itself instead on this live action & the actors. If the campaign itself sans live action is around 10-12 quality hours then the tv portion is just a bonus...if the live action cutscenes are padding out a 5-7 hour campaign then that'd definitely be a bummer.

NicSage2999d ago

The actors are really good though imo.

Omeganex99992999d ago

The actors are absolutely good, I'm not doubting the live action parts are going to be amazing, I am just scared it won't fit perfectly with the rest of the game.

But I guess we have to trust Remedy and wait. I have to say that the latest gameplay videos look much better than those shown before, I was worried about that part as well (it looked kinda generic) but now can't wait to play it!

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit53d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead52d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica52d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL52d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Friendlygamer53d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit53d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer53d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit52d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff218352d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer52d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff218352d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper52d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal53d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood52d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff218352d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde52d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer68d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion68d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning7768d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai68d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well

15 games on FIFTEEN pages? That's a NO from me.

Superliminal
Antichamber
Manifold Garden
Portal & Portal 2
The Stanley Parable
Monument Valley
Gorogoa
Thumper
Inscryption
Q.U.B.E. 2
Darq
Quantum Break
Perspective

The Swapper

IamTylerDurden1365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.

SullysCigar365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

I'd add FEAR and RE7 (when Ethan starts getting visions, especially in the boat) to that list.

Edit: and Here They Lie

What no Eternal Darkness on the list?
