Tom from GamersFTW writes: "The definition of indie games is evolving all of the time. As it does so, the constituent line that demarcates indie games from others increasingly blurs. Resisting this resurgence, and shrugging off accusations of publisher greed and technical shortcomings, sits the AAA video game monolith. With indie games increasingly lauded by critics and the community alike, and the AAA giants constantly embroiled in high-profile controversies, a simple question comes into focus. Why are we, being the mass gaming community, still willing to pay more for AAA games than indie games?"
Sometimes you want to explore wild environments while exploring mysteries, escaping flesh eating 8monsters, or even be the monster yourself.
Are you too busy to play long video games? These six best short games for busy people won't take much time out of your schedule.
From UploadVR: "Perhaps one of the most demanded VR mods out there, Firewatch VR, is now complete.
Developer Raicuparta recently moved their mod, named Two Forks VR, to a 1.0 release. This update doesn’t actually add much to the mod over the past release, but the developer says the mod is now in “maintenance mode”, essentially meaning it will just be updated to keep working with any possible future updates to Firewatch itself.
Raicuparta previously made an excellent VR mod for Outer Wilds, and now Two Forks VR features a lot of advanced VR mod features like snap turning and more. If you want to try the mod for yourself you’ll need to subscribe to Raicuparta’s Patreon campaign."
Really cool. Something the main developers should have considered when VR was really getting hot. Maybe next round with new headsets coming.
The more interesting thing is that Modders are, in a way, proving what Sony wants to do with some VR games being hybrids besides the ground up developed games. Make the necessary tweaks and modifications and boom. VR game.
Games like RE7, Borderlands, Skyrim, Doom, Dirt Rally, etc have made the case. Some very close like Hitman 3. It just needed more tweaking. Just need more of the best and at a higher quality. Developers win. Gamers win either way in or out of VR.
because of the money and work that goes into them. sure indies are fun and great games, but how many people do you know that are playing spelunky or journey every day as opposed to COD, TLoU MP, HALO, FF, drive club, gran turismo, and all the other AAA games? i honestly would rather go back and play a ps1 jrpg instead of an indie because of the sheer length, story, artwork, voice acting, mechanics, depth etc. in comparison; and for the same price or most of the time even cheaper than any indie game. i never played breath of fire III and you can bet your bank im gonna buy and play it before i buy spleunky or most other iindie games that cost more, or even a little less for that matter.
like LIMBO was cool. but i didnt pay for it and beat it in like an hour or 2 (or even less). i think it was released at 15 bucks if i can remember correctly. it was worth 3-5 dollars imo. i coulda lived without it or killed that time doing something else tbh.
Because they are smaller releases and present themselves as such. For example, many indie games don't get a physical release.
The price we pay for games is always going to be reflective of how much goes into them (moneywise) and how popular they are. It is a shame. Saying that though I wiuld be willing to pay whatevere price for a game if I thought I was personally going to get out of it what I put in.
Because advertising works on most people!!!
Just look at CD Project RED for proof of why we spend money. Plenty of free dlcs and continuous support over the game. Not to mention about the exceptional quality and standard of contents. But Indie games? Buy and finished. Then?
