Hitman Dev Hopes Many Games Will Follow Similar Approach

Studio head Hans Seifert believes the game should "make sense" with this approach.

Hopefully not.

Jesus, this whole push on episode content they are doing is worrying. They really do want it to become the standard.

I hope it fails. I do not want this happening to any other game.

Me too. Worst business model ever.

ThunderPulse3016d ago

SE wants your money so so bad.

Lamboomington3016d ago

Why ?
They aren't getting any more money. They're losing it to the many people who will buy only a part of it, but not buy later episodes.

If there is a potential problem with this Hitman game it has to do with holding people's interest over an entire year, not the business model. ie, it might have the problem that most episodic games have.

If the game has enough content by the end of the year, then the business model is one that allows you to pay only for what you want, instead of the entire $60 dollars.

Lamboomington3016d ago (Edited 3016d ago )

Depends on how it turns out. If the game somehow manages to have enough content to keep players playing for that long, then it'll be good. If not (which is more likely) then it's going to suck.

That's the issue. I don't want games split up into content I can only play for a few hours, and then wait a whole freaking month for the next bit. Ruins the game experience.

Episodic content using this model is going to lead to less revenue, not more. This leads me to believe they're not doing this out of greed or anything, but genuinely trying something new. We'll see if they prove our negativity wrong.

From the episodic games that I have played is that a lot of times I end up waiting 2 to three months for the next episode. For example, "The Wolf Among US": episode one came out between October or November, the second episode came out in February.

bixxel3016d ago

I don't.
Master Yoda's opinion to Devs-"A shadow of greed that is."
Master Windu's opinion to Devs-"I sense a plot against the gamers"
Obi-Wan Kenobi's opinion to Devs-"Stretch out your feelings, publishers."

-Foxtrot3016d ago

I thought Master Windu's would be

"Y'all Mother F***** gotta relax"

bixxel3016d ago (Edited 3016d ago )

Master Yoda:" Patience, patience.... Aggression, hatred, these are the paths of the dark side of the force. "
But the only problem for me is that, Devs are not ones with the force and the grandmaster jedis' are all as force ghosts.

LOL best use of Star Wars dialogue 😁

chrisx3016d ago (Edited 3016d ago )

What a ridiculous statement made by this man. I have faith gamers will never accept this trash

Der_Kommandant3016d ago

It's in our hands, please my fellow gamers don't support this.

2pacalypsenow3016d ago

Great because having to wait a whole year to finish a game is good? SMH...

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

Super lacklustre

A Deep Dive On all Things Hitman With The Voices Behind Agent 47 And Diana Burnwood

From PSU: "Ten years ago, the Hitman franchise was in a transitory state. Blood Money had become something of a classic and with Hitman Absolution there was a clear decision to push IO Interactive’s assassination sim series to a whole new level. That experimental, often divisive, entry turned out to be pivotal in what would follow.

Elements of Absolution, such as its accessibility and player-created content, would be mixed with the more traditional Hitman games’ sense of murderous creativity to birth the Hitman Trilogy 0f 2016-2021. A series that would take its creators on a turbulent journey of publisher changes, independence, and the eventual triumph of being handed the tantalizing 007 license."
