Quantum Break Coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 on April 5

Quantum Break has been confirmed for Windows 10 PCs, while the contents of its Xbox One bundle have also been revealed.

Go with the Lunar white controller if you want a white one. It has gaudy gold accents, but also has the grips and the headphone jack. Good buy for only slightly more than a regular controller. Highly recommended.

The difference is you knew SFV was coming to PC from the jump. Can you tell me for certain that prior to today you knew QB was coming to PC never mind the same day as the XB1 version?

Had someone claimed that prior to today they would be labeled as a troll whom suddenly has a beefy PC at the ready at his/her convenience. If UC4 was suddenly announced as coming to PC people would be saying it's a massive blow too. Why? Because it was unexpected.

The problems is not that it happens. It is that it happens all the time. The "exclusives" are X1 and PC almost always, so it dims the reasons for owning a X1.

I'll sell mine and use the money on a PC, where I'll be able to run almost every big game on the X1 and also work. As said, having a console loses a big selling point if there are little to no exclusives.

Whether you knew SF was coming to PC from the start doesn't matter. NO one in the Comment section was saying that the PS4 release of the game now meant nothing since its coming to PC. They are saying that about this game as if no one will buy it for X1.

Whenever someone trys to say they are getting a game on PC over the PS4 people go crazy and say how no one cares about the "PC master race" and how much better it is to game on the couch.

NOW here we sit and everyone all of a sudden cares about PC! its the only way to game! When in truth it just allows people to take a dig at the X1

it really depends on how you think about it. As I said below, I was seriously thinking about getting an Xbox One to play this until about 25 minutes ago. I have a PC. You guys know that. So, why do I need to spend $350 when... so yeah I get that (R9 280 + FX8320), but what of the game itself. If the game is good on PC its will still be good on Xbox.

And what if the game reaches more hands because its on PC... isn't that a good thing. Whats good for Xbox may not always be good for developers but whats good for developers in this case is also good for Xbox.

With the direction MS is going I truly believe that if the next xbox is released it will be able to play the same games as the PC. Meaning 1 copy of a game is interchangeable between their PC OS and console OS. Creating a seamless echo system. One disc or download needed and you can play on both.

In fact, with the similarities of the hardware i am surprised someone hasnt come up with a game that you could pop into a PS4 AND XB1 and play. I mean they are virtually the same and the media is capable of holding the game content that can adapt to the slight differences in the architecture. Just like on a PC where a single game is designed to be accommodating to varying hardware.

It can't really be that difficult to do on a single disc in today's technology.

I did actually just buy a gaming PC. Got it just a couple weeks ago in fact. So cming from someone with my perspective (owning PS4, X1, PC, and Wii U) I can say that issue is that there are very few true X1 exclusives. If you already own a PC, not much reason to get an X1. You can grab a Wii U and get all the Mario's and Xenoblades and Bayonettas out there, or you can grab a PS4 and snag the Bloodbornes, Uncharteds and Infamous's out there but on X1 the pickins' are so slim, I wouldn't recommend picking one up if you already own a PC. Now if you don't, I'd recommend it in a heart beat if you looking to get one.
People can look at that as a massive blow to xbox if they like. But I remember Spencer talking about taking care of PC gamers to rebuild a relationship with them, and not locking them out of certain titles I feel is a part of keeping that promise.

He shouldn't be shying away from showing PC support. Its not as if they made QB for PC in a day; it must have been in development for it on day one.

I imagine this announcement was seen as a ticking time bomb at MS HQ in the grand scheme of things. The way they've announced it makes no sense.

Wow I bought a xbox because of this game. And I will still buy it for my xbox. But if I was a pc gamer I'd get the pc version of the game.
Man I really thought this would be xbox ones first AAA exclusive that was born on XB1. It's not super bad but are all XB1 exclusive not gunna be exclusive anymore?

The sudden news raises so many questions.
Like its looking more and more like xbox will become a pc thing. This may well be the last physical xbox. All its exclusive games coming to pc like this us pointing to this. Making xbox games also available on pc give people less reason to buy a xbox. Hope I'm wrong but this is just another coin in the bucket pointing to this.

Personally I don't have a gaming PC (not currently up to snuff anyway) nor do I have the XB1. Now I could go out and buy the parts to build (upgrade is not an option with my dinosaur) a new PC. And looking at the parts that would be in my budget I would say it's not worth it at this time.

Now shelling out $400 for an XB1 would yield me the opportunity to play the current set of games including this one as well as whatever else gets released for it. I may be in the minority but unless something like Half Life 3 gets announced then there really is no reason for me to go back down the PC road anytime soon.

Consoles (and their games) are more attainable to me so that's why I choose that road instead.

Phil's own comments are saying they are not happening as of yet only due to him starting work as head of XB during those games developments.

Soooooooo what do you guys REALLY think that means in regards to it coming to PC? I called this a mile away because of what Phil's statements have been along with the rest of MS. Many on here have made great comments regarding how much more money software makes then hardware and though I believed exclusives sold more consoles at one point, those comments with real numbers, logic etc showed otherwise by a massive amount.

I went from this will hurt MS, to this will HELP MS! I changed my mind based on many great users on this site that had nothing but logic to show how its helping them, not hurting them.

I dunno. I brought an X1 for Quantum Break. I already had a capable PC, but will still probably get it for the X1 because I just prefer playing on consoles.

I don't know if it's a console killing announcement, but I do think that if I were that interested, and had waited to buy an X1 for the game instead of getting it last year, I probably would just go for the PC version because there isn't enough other stuff other than QB to push me into wanting one, although there is enough with QB right now to have made me buy one on the prospect.

I can only speak for myself of course. If I were opting for a PC version with no X1 available to me, then I would probably just end up skipping it until it went on sale and I likely brought it on impulse.

Most are not buying it for those exclusives though. On N4G people have this idea that everyone is only play exclusives and many on here really need to look at the numbers to show otherwise.

Fallout 4 did like 12 million
Battlefront did like 13 million
COD Black Ops 3 don't have the numbers right now but read it did more then most games last year if not the best selling last year.

But that goes to show you....MOST do not buy consoles for exclusives.

Yet Forza did like 2 million, Bloodborne did like 2 million.

So its sorta showing you in the massive amount, not as much consoles are really selling for just exclusives, even if we want to pretend 1 gamer bought 1 exclusive game per console, it still wouldn't make sense.

This won't hurt MS, it will help them as any lost hardware sale will turn into software sales on PC anyway. Thus...win win.

I mean they definitely knew that this sudden announcement would cause controversy, something the xb1 doesn't need any more of so why do it like this? Why not announce the PC version until after the xb1 release 6 month down the line?

Not every digital copy comes with the free Win10 version. Only if you pre-order. If you buy it physically or digitally after release, no free Win10 vrsion for u.

This implies that you COULD buy it for PC... but are swayed to get the XBO version because it comes with a 360 version of AW. Wha? If you have a PC, you can pretty much always find AW for $3-$5. Also it'll actually run well. If you only have an XBO then nevermind, carry on. But if you have the PC, the 360 version of a AW seems a silly reason to go with the inferior version of QB.

My issue is that they announced the games as XB1 exclusive, marketed it as XB1 only for 3 years, only to announce it for PC 2 months from release. What games are next Scalebound, Gears 4, Crackdown ? A console should have true exclusives (not just Halo 5 and Forza)!

I think this is good for gamers.

Buy the devices you want but still be able to play all the games you like. That's a win-win. All games should ship on several platforms. Pure exclusives are bad for gamers and black mail you to buy a specific device.

I would love to play Uncharted 4, Bloodborne and many other Sony exclusives, but I am not going to buy a PS4 again. I have a consumer issue with Sony that they did not resolve to my satisfaction. So, I miss out on the games, Sony misses out revenue from me. It is a lose-lose.

I think people are missing MS big picture down the road. They are showing, by pushing for always online, and PC/X1 game releases that next gen console will be a hybrid like device. Something you buy a game digitally to your MS account and can launch it on whatever MS compatible device that has Windows 10, etc. They are building an ecosystem where one purchase will get you the experience eon whatever you own that supports to OS. Think about it, how many console gamers, like me and lot of people on here, have zero interest to buy a good gaming rig? Why not rope them all in under on OS and one ecosystem? It's brilliant if they are able to pull this off.

MS makes their money on the store fees they charge for Windows. I wouldn't expect to see cross buy for titles from Steam/Xbox titles. This not only helps push Win10 as a one platform, but also their own storefront, and it's actually a smart business move to help adoption of their Windows Store, because GFW was a complete bust for them that many gamers were not eager to support.

In the long run, should MS make this more a common thing, it provides added value for many gamers, and that could give them the edge they need, and it could bring in new ways to adopt digital content which MS actually wants..and what they should have done before trying to make it common practice.

I dunno how it will all play out here in the long run...no one does. Only MS knows their long term plans here. It could be the start of a new release model, or it could just be a flash in the pan that MS gives up due to publishers not being interested, or it not achieving the desired results. Just think of how exciting cross-buy was when announced for PlayStation, then remember how few big AAA games actually received such treatment.

Everyone also confirmed that the Brazil listing of QB on PC was an error. That's the main issue I have w/ the nature of the announcement. Great that QB is going to PC but MS has blatantly held that info back until 2 months from release in order to push console sales through the holidays by omitting the facts at best and outright lying at worst. At the end of the day, its a "Microsoft" Exclusive. Specifically, this is a Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusive. Microsoft isn't competing with their own products here. It's really a brilliant move to be honest, especially considering the amount of PC gamers. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future you unify your purchases and can play on both Xbox One and PC with a single purchase, or buy the full game on the console and pay a discounted price for the PC license and vice versa. At the end of the day, Microsoft still makes money with licensing and people get to enjoy their games.

I'm still getting them all on my XB1 and millions of other gamers will do the same. Been playing Fable Legends for several months on my XB1 already. Don't care if it's coming to the PC. In companies like these, the heads of divisions don't have unfettered freedom to make decisions on how things go, but have to work towards overall company objectives.

This means that MS proper sees Xbox as less important in their ecosystem than previously thought, and that they know that PC gaming is just too much of a market to ignore, or give lackluster support to.

Right now MS has a lot more riding on Windows 10 adoption, and they'd drop X1 in a heartbeat if it meant that they'd lock that down from the whole of the gaming community. Luckily, X1 plays a part in having a central eco-system, so they aren't likely to drop it.

Of course Xbox is a big part of MS overall plan. Even in Windows, it's considered Xbox gaming. They are doing everything they can to expand the brand recognition of Xbox.

However, that doesn't mean that the console itself is as important to MS as a whole as it originally started off as.

The console itself does serve a different market than the PC gamers, and it's important for MS to have it there so people have access to MS gaming in general. However, the PC market has expanded greatly over the last 10 years, and MS would be stupid to ignore it, and focus on Xbox as the primary source of revenue, all while undermining their own Windows platform, which they for the past 20 years have tried to make out as the best place to game on PC...all while doing very little to support that with their own gaming software.

At what point was I attacking MS? All my comments in here have been about my personal feelings on the subject. I have an X1, and brought it for QB. I don't regret my purchase, but at the same time, I wouldn't have gotten one if I could have played this game on PC, because it's about the only game which really pushed me to want one.

I criticize MS where I deem it necessary, and I don't think this news warrants criticism. Rather it warrants praise, as they are bringing more games to more people, and the fan boys can be damned if they have a problem with that.

Why would people pick a PC over a console? Could be any number of reasons. Price is obviously a factor, but in none of my comments did I say someone would opt to buy a high priced gaming PC over a console. But to humor you, I'll turn the argument more towards what I've hinted at in this thread, and say, why would people with a suitable computer buy an Xbox if they can just buy the game on PC?

Every suppose Xbox One exclusive that has interested me (excluding Forza) has also released on PC. Dead Rising, Ryse, Sea Of Thieves, Recore and now this. I think by offering them on both, MS makes the Xbox console a lower barrier of entry for those that want to get into gaming. This is a place the SteamBox got it wrong, because the barrier was still not that low in terms of price. At the same time, they get to push their Windows 10 ecosystem on the public, which is their current thing, and they have a lot of things riding on it's ubiquitous and quick adoption.

They will sacrifice some console sales for this of course, but I doubt it's going to be major numbers, because most people that are looking on entering this gen of gaming and don't have a PC may consider it a worthy way to get into it. Those that already have capable PC's are about the only ones who aren't going to jump on X1 for the games, but in the meantime, MS is still making money on the software sales, and pushing their brand as a whole.

The only unknown though is how much it will truly effect console sales, and if it doesn't spur them on, then the X1 could start to lose publisher support if Sony pulls further ahead and the publisher had no interest in a PC release(which is becoming rarer). Should that happen, it would likely make the Xbox brand as a whole less desirable, giving us another generation where one system dominates(as of now, XB is still holding it's own).

I think the Xbox division isn't going to feel the ramifications of this until the next Xbox is set to release, because fewer people will be apt to purchase the system if they have an alternative to play games. However, that may be made up by people who prefer the cross-buy initiative and find value in it...which would be odd since I don't see why most people would want to play across multiple systems, which is the same criticism things like remote play and PSNow receive.

Where's all the publisher support for WiiU this gen? Wii had plenty of publisher support. It was mostly crap, but it was there. Console install base plays directly into publisher support. Wii had crappy games because it wasn't as capable to play the more modern games which were being released. It still had decent support of games from high profile franchises in spin off type games. WiiU didn't get support because it's initial software sales were dismal for 3rd party stuff...mostly due to 3rd party releases...but the damage was done. Even more, where is all the Japanese support of games on the Xbox One? About all it gets is games that are targeted at the western audience. Where was all the support for the OGXbox? How about the Dreamcast after the 2nd year? TG-16, 3DO, ColecoVision, Vita, etc? Lower sales, less support. It's a fact. Care to address that, or just take one example which doesn't even support your argument when you actually look at it in terms of numbers and not the "If it's not AAA, it doesn't count" mentality?

I don't understand why they are those saying this will effect MS Xbox One sales. I believe it will not have a detrimental impact. I however believe it will just increase the awareness of the game. To the people who say that everyone has a computer capable of running this games is not true. If you check the statistics on steam you'll be surprised how many people have capable PCs. I have both Xbox One and a PS4 as well as a high end PC. Gamers like me are the minority as most people don't have high end PCs (5960x, 980ti sli, 3440*1440). This announcement entices someone like me to splurge on this game because I know I can get it on both platforms as opposed to getting it on one. The fact of the matter is MS needs to sell as many copies as possible and giving away a free digital PC copy definitely will aid to their cause.

Some people fail to understand a simple fact. XB1 'exclusives' are now dead in the water. As a xb1 player i want xb1 games to be digitally lowered to the same price pc players will play(for the better experience). I pay full console price and will be restricted to 30fps probably, yet pc players will have an option of paying less to play the same game with a better performance. It's not right, and i'll not be spending much more cash on my xb1. Xbox exclusives are not dead in the water. They're in fact very much alive. I think the problem here is the perception of how you view exclusives. 5 sales of QB where 3 are on Xbox One and 2 are on Windows store are still equating to five sales. I think what you wanted was for the game to remain exclusive to the console platform and the simply fact is that MS needs to push the game so it makes sense to include a free PC copy.
As I mentioned earlier; most people don't have a capable PC to run this and it won't make people go out and buy one. Those type of people are few and far between. I gather you were joking, but as far as lowering the price of console games; it's simply out of the question. PC is a different platform and profits are done differently opposed to consoles.
As technology and infrastructure gets further along I imagine consoles will become obsolete and the companies will simply offer a service. Something probably similar to PlayStation Now. Until then consoles will always perform underpowered compared to PCs as if they were on the same leveled playing field, prices of hardware would be outrageous, and how many parents would buy their child a $1000 console?

If a $60 game cost $30 on pc, this means you'd save $600 within 20 titles. Add that to the $300 -$400 cost of a console, you'd have a $900-$1000 pc for the same price as an xb1 if you buy 20 titles. I think that would out peform a xb1 comfortably. I see pirates smiling.

Actually PC games are usually $10 cheaper for certain titles. They're only half price when you use sites like greenmangaming or cdkeys and such.
As far as pirating goes. It appears many high profile games are coming out with denuvo drm, which has proven to be quite tough to crack. The thing is you can buy these games from the sites I mentioned it almost deters some from pirating. Of course you'll always have those who will no matter the price. For example I was able to purchase ROTTR for around $9.30 from the Xbox Windows Ukraine store. You can't really beat that unless you're talking about free 99.

Hell yeah, I knew it, I knew it. This game is coming to PC. It looks like Microsoft will turn xbox live into a brand after all. Soon, when someone turns their 4K smart tv there will be a xbox live app, also a roku like device will be the next xbox.

I see a lot of comments though of people saying "this will hurt Xbox One sales", and this is simply not true. Many people who buy consoles do so for console exclusives and to be able to play most of these third party games as well. They don't want to put up with the pain of having to spend a lot up front for PC gaming and then having to maintain a PC in the long run as well. I get the feeling now instead of saying "Exclusive to Xbox One", they will start seeing more of "Microsoft Exclusive" titles, specifically for Windows 10/DX12. That's not surprising at all as they are pushing Windows 10 out and people are adopting it quite fast. Both are Microsoft Products and they still make money on both items, and are targeting 2 sets of gamer audience (PC and Consoles). I don't see a problem with that.

Even if you had both a gaming PC and an X1 you would be a fool not to preorder it on X1 so that you can get the PC version for free along with all the Alan Wake bonuses.

Any person who would opt to just buy it on PC I would have to question their sanity or their idea of value for their dollar.

This is not coming to Steam. MS gets full profit whether you buy it on PC or Xbox.. This Windows app store exclusive just like K.I and Gears Ultimate. Plus not everyone can afford 600-800$ PC to play video games. $349 XO and PS4 are much better option for a budget gamer.

Sony gets no cut from Steam version of SFV,No mans sky and Witness coz Steam version are not published by Sony...

You will be surprised at what a $500 PC build can get you. For around $500 you can get a ever so slightly powerful desktop PC than the minimum specs Quantum Break requires. Plus over time you can upgrade the parts during sales ect.

The myth of needing a $2000 PC will not die. If people actually gave it a chance they'd see how much bang you can get for your buck these days. Agreed ElVeneno. People think that it is a must to upgrade PC hardware every year. It is not the case at all. Maybe if you want 4k 60FPS that with ultra settings. That maybe the case.

But for 1080p. With ultra/high settings it is not the case at all. A decent AMD GPU will be fine for some time. Even a AMD CPU will be fine. Sure there not as good for games as Intel. But there still pretty good. The FX 8350 has been around since 2013 and is still a decent choice today. Same as a older i7 2500K from 2011 is still pretty decent.

My friend already own a $500 PC with a EVGA GTX 780 gpu and it's struggling to run Arkham Knight and ROTR even on high @ 1080p30fps. He was so frustrated that he asked for refund on both games and bought ROTR on XO and AK on PS4..

You need atleast 600-800$ PC to play modern AAA games at high 1080p60fps settings. A minimum GTX 970 is absolute must to play modern games at respectable settings as most PC ports are not optimized properly for PC and rely more on brute power.

I have been playing PC games for long time..No need to give me lecture on it..I can't afford to spend more on PC.

Your friend must of played Batman when it was first released on a PC. This was when it had really big issues and would even run horrible on 980ti GPU's.

I was playing it on my PC a month ago. With a 970 max settings and a 8350 cpu. It was for most of the time 70+FPS. Dipping down to below 70 at times. Sometimes driving scenes lowered the FPS to 55. This was on a FX 8350 CPU. I now have a i7 4790k which improved the FPS slightly.

My friend has a 770 with a FX 8350. He has been enjoying The Witcher 3 on high settings 1080p with a near constant 50fps. You do not need a $600 - $800 PC to play modern games.

a FX 6300 and a GTX 960 or a R9 380 is fine for 1080p gaming with high settings for modern games. You may need to set the odd setting to medium such as shadows ect. But it will still look great and better than consoles.

It's really a win-win. X1 owners get the PC version free. The game continues to impress and I don't mind x1 exclusives coming to PC as it gives more people a chance to play.

I think Microsoft is smart for making it available to PC. It's still console exclusive, so why not make it accessible to as many people possible. Plus they will need a lot of people talking about this game or it will easily be lost in the Uncharted title wave coming right behind it.

MS owns the IP..They can releasing on their own platform and store not on some other system or store front.

QB is quite ambitious game and it's budget has also increased since it was announced, so they want to make maximum profit.. They are releasing on their own store and not sharing 30% profit with Steam.
