Prepare for space battles galore because Rising Star Games is pleased to announce it has signed the rights to bring retro-style shooter XG Blast! to Europe. Scheduled for release in November 2008, XG Blast! (short for eXtreme Gravity and refers to the main in-game weapon) will be available exclusively on the NintendoDS and in all PAL territories. Undergoing a secret experimental journey...
Along with the DS iteration of Geometry Wars: Galaxies, XG Blast! is a capable portable shooter which deserves consideration by any action-game aficionado. Ignore the game's lackluster box art, and minimal marketing efforts- this is one of those exceptional minor titles which rivals the efforts from major publishers.
This week, the trio welcomes Robert "Pennyman" Welkner who offers a behind-the-scenes peek at the creation of the latest installment in the Coin-Op.Tv DVD anthology. Impressions of Arc Rise Fantasia, XG Blast!, Gundemonium Collection, and the everlasting hunt for achievements/trophies are offered before we venture into a retro-themed trivia segment you won't want to miss!
Jeremy writes in his review: "Every once in a while, I like to try and review a Nintendo DS game that was released that no one has ever heard of. Sometimes you get lucky and find something that is actually good. Other times, not so much. In some cases, you find a game that is almost an exact clone of a game that is fairly well known. XG Blast is one of those clones."
