As the release of Dark Souls 3 draws ever nearer, speculation regarding the direction the series will take has become a big talking point. The smooth gameplay mechanics and enticing setting of Bloodborne has prompted many gamers to take on the challenge that is finishing a Souls-style game. Here we will have a look at what makes the Souls games so special, and what FromSoftware can learn from Bloodborne to include in Dark Souls 3.
The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?
Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.
Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."
Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne
"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.
Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.
Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.
It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch
Either way my controller will suffer the most pain. I will die so much that it will be crushed into dust!
I wish there was more variety in what FromSoftware made. I miss games like Lost Kingdoms, which was so unique, rather than Souls/Blood games that feel the same.
This article shpuld be what DS3 HAS learned from BB b/c almost everything listed is already in DS3, except chalice dungeons.
I'm not sure of I want chalice dungeons, but added endgame content would be nice. Maybe weapins that require multiple playthrough to acquire, or something akin to Dragons Dogma.
Not sure but I would definitely want the game to be harder.
I want Chalice Dungeons. I'm playing through The Old Hunters right now and I'm not getting anything good blood echoes wise. I may have 100,000 echoes that I have gained so far.
Which comes to my point, one Level 5 Chalice Dungeon gets me 900,000 to 1,000,000 blood echoes in 25 minutes of play. Chalice Dungeons are great when your level 206 and one click on stats cost you 350,000 echoes each.
