It's one of the unspoken rules of the industry that Valve don't make 3rd entries to any of their series. It started off as superstition after no Half Life 3, but as time goes by it seems more likely to be true.

It would be awesome if they did make it. However, this long without any glimmer of hope for another sequel, I think it's fair to say they are not going to do it. They just seem so disinterested in it. I stopped holding my breath for this a while ago...
