The Division Is At Its Best When You're Stabbing People In The Back - Kotaku

Kotaku:
The only technical testing I’ve done with the beta of Ubisoft’s upcoming game The Division is seeing whether I’ll like it. So far, it has passed that test.

This is one of those games players will have hard times in how to make this game fun to play cause the core gameplay mechanics is boring as hell.

Wallstreet373030d ago

Lol damn you read my mind. I put in the other post that im in the ps4 beta and i just felt like i was playing another prototype or infamous or some similar game in regards to gameplay. Missions were of the same boring type and the enemies all looked alike. Aiming also felt off.

Dont get me wrong graphics are good (not great imo) and the online aspect os cool but i dont think ill be buying.

Psychotica3030d ago

Another Prototype or Infamous? Awesome, I loved both of those games..

Wallstreet373030d ago

Psychotika.....

Yeah alot of people do. Especially prototype with its destruction which this game doesn't have, infamous with its super powers and jumping off high buildings (this game doesnt have) lol.

I probably used the wrong examples. It wasnt the gameplay per se but the missions that reminded me of those type of games and some aspects but then again that can fit under any open world game. It wasnt as fun though because those games had huge destruction, powers, etc bringing out the fun this doesnt have.

I'm loving the beta. The side missions and encounters are as bland as can be but I'm really enjoying teaming up with strangers and tackling the dark zone. It's really unique, however I'm not sure how long it would take for the novelty to wear off if that's where I'd end up spending most my gametime.

Unless there's a lot more variety in side missions and encounters I don't see myself doing much else apart from the Dark Zone.

Just don't play alone, it's crap. Surprising how many people use mics on this as it doesn't seem like people bother much on other games.

I completely agree. Mission design is tedious (Bunch of useless fetch quests). Maps are huge and pointless....deleted this game. Maybe the full version wont be so generic and boring to me.

camel_toad3030d ago

After spending some time in the dark zone with some friends I've decided it's just not for me. The whole DZ feels like a troll's wet dream. Everyone always standing around just waiting to see who will shoot first.

Stapleface3030d ago

I run with a group of anti rogue players. We just wipe out the people who attempt to do that. Control the dz with a good group and rogues don't stand a chance. You got in a bad instance. I saw some people trying to be griefers. It just doesn't work with that bounty on your head.

camel_toad3030d ago

@stapleface

Maybe it was just bad luck both times I played in the DZ but both times it was entire rogue groups (and not just a solo rogue) going after solo'ers and my own non-rogue group.

Maybe since it's beta the rogues arent worried about the risk of dropping ranks by dying so there's just a lot more of it right now.

I did like the coop stuff and would like to see the rest of the city and missions, but I'm just worried the endgame content will be all about the DZ.

Docknoss3030d ago

Someone's angree they didn't get a beta code..

I really enjoyed the Beta, and the Dark Zone was very fun and I didn't have too much trouble with other players. There was the occasional a-hole but what game doesn't have those.

Artemidorus3030d ago

This game has arrived too late. Would of been better as a launch title both consoles.

Too many games that are worth playing more than this.

SlavisH23030d ago

same. I'm going to pass on this

thekhurg3030d ago

Not really. This game is arriving at the perfect time. It's going to do amazingly well.

Docknoss3030d ago

Wrong! This game is amazing, this is the first console mmo on par with WOW.

KwietStorm_BLM3030d ago

LOL what? How can you.. I can't even comprehend that

Moe-Gunz3030d ago

I enjoyed the beta, it was just so limiting that it became repetitive. Can't wait for the full game.

TeamLeaptrade3030d ago

I downloaded the beta, but have not played it yet. It seems like most people think it's kind of boring or repetitive. I suppose I should give the beta a try tonight or sometime tomorrow before it's done.

Khaotic3030d ago

Imo its 1 of the top 3 games releasing in the next few months. Uncharted and Quantum break being the other 2. There are people who havnt enjoyed it and have been vocal about it. The people who do like it are probably playing it.

Khaotic3030d ago

Yes you definitely hear alot more negative than postive. It makes you wonder if some people like any games around here.

On topic

I have yet to just go rouge in dark zone. In there quite a bit tonight and worked with a couple of people and we extracted quite a bit of weapons, armor, and mods. It was super fun.

Moe-Gunz3030d ago

It's repetitive because the content is limited due to it being the beta. They tell you when you start it up that it contains very little from the final game.

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

shinoff2183405d ago

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

-Foxtrot405d ago

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno405d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic405d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

Hofstaderman405d ago

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon404d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
