Death of a Shooter: Halo 3's Xbox 360 Multiplayer Is a Ghost Town

Nine years later and almost all of the guns on Halo 3's battlefields are silent on the Xbox 360. The spirit of the game lives on in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Well, this shows that people who are playing Halo have understandably moved on to the Xbox One.

Unspoken3036d ago

Who approves these articles? That would be the telltale sign of why these moronic articles about Xbox/Halo keep popping up.

An Xbox 360 game that came out in 2007! Woohoo! Must be slow news day.

skratchy3035d ago

@Unspoken

It's not an official site or anything. Essentially anyone with an opinion can type up an article. Hence all the garbage and clickbait you see everyday.

Unspoken3035d ago (Edited 3035d ago )

Yeah, but certain folks in the community can also approve or find ways to disapprove certain articles leading to further bias. It's comical.

And that's not even getting into the one-sidedness of some moderators on here.

feraldrgn3036d ago

Or just that people aren't playing it anymore.

Erik73573036d ago

Na its halo, people still played this game after 5 years it came out..

jivah3036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

Lol there was a solid 350 people on the Halo 3 pc version last night. Such a fun game tho

Incase you had a "huh" moment

Halo 3 was all I played on 360 Thank you...downloading this right now!

sammarshall1023036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

Master Chief Collection, Halo 5: Guardians

Gazondaily3036d ago

Yeah lol its been a decade and TMCC and Halo 5 are out. What were you expecting?

sammarshall1023036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

Lol right. How many years has it been since it released. I can see if it came out this year

Ikonic3036d ago

I was actually surprised when I saw the headline because if I'm honest Halo 3 in the MCC is broken.

Now did halo 3 have its share of issues, sure, but the game still felt playable. In MCC though, it adds even more issues with aiming and latency, so much so that I find MCC Halo 3 unenjoyable, and I played Halo 3 for years even after reach had come out.

Paytaa3036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

By far my greatest gaming memories happened on this game. Never forget Halo 3. Never again will there be another game like it.

Halo 3 was the definitive peak of the series and it kept a strong population even after Reach came out 3 years later. Halo 3 was a cultural phenomenon and Halo will never be able to recreate that.

I'll miss you old friend.

ThunderPulse3036d ago

Playing Infection on the Custom map Trains was so much fun.

Paytaa3036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

Halo 3 offered literally the perfect mix of competitive and casual play. I could be playing MLG all day then once my friends came on we'd be playing Jenga, Duck Hunt, Zombie Defense, Left 4 Dead, Trash Compactor, etc.

It'll be something I'll always look back on as something I grew up with and was a game that was more than a game to me.

I'd still play Halo 3 over any other shooter including Halo 5 to this day.

ThunderPulse3036d ago

@Paytaa I totally forgot about Jenga lmao having random junk launched at you while trying not to fall off.

Codewow3036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

Indeed. I loved playing Jenga on Standoff. I loved playing dodge the junk on foundry, I loved making the elephant fly on sand trap. So many great memories and hundreds of hours of playtime with all things, infected, shotty snipes, Duck Hunt, Michael Jackson, and plenty more that I will miss dearly.

sammarshall1023036d ago

Halo 5 has the best multiplayer though

Paytaa3036d ago

Halo 5 has REALLY good multiplayer and it's arguably the best FPS I've played mechanically since Halo 3 but classic Halo is now a niche left untouched. That type of gameplay is now gone and it sucks because in my opinion that was the perfection of the FPS.

Halo 1-3 is still my benchmark for the FPS genre. Games are timeless to me.

81BX3036d ago

Is it me or does halo 5's overshields seem stronger than past halos?

mynd3036d ago

@81BX 2 Shot guns up close, or assassinate from behind and it may as well have no over-shield.

Paytaa3036d ago

@mynd Assassinating someone with OS is one of the few things 343 brought back from Halo CE where it was a one hit kill from behind.

I think it's more balanced in Halo 5 than past Halo games

LAWSON723036d ago (Edited 3036d ago )

@paytaa

Assassinating an OS guy has always been a one hitter, maybe Halo 2 but I know for a fact 3, 4, Reach all have back assassinations.

Also OS is OP as heck in 5 IMO especially compared to previous OS, whether that is bad I don't know considering power weapons are used for map domination if you look at it from that perspective it is just a tactical point to take advantage of

"Of course almost all of the content to be found in all 4 previous entries in the Halo franchise is accessible on the Xbox One via the Master Chief Collection, but at the time of writing I don’t own one of those."

sorry to hear you can't play it on the XBox One. One thing intrigues me, this article makes it seem like Halo is not popular anymore, when its far from the truth., It may not have the following it did when it was on the OG or 360, but for those that bought the X1, We all play Halo be it on the MCC collection or Halo 5 where the multiiplayer is fantastic.

Infinite is a dumpster fire and as much as I like ODST, in no universe it ranks above Halo 2. This list is trash.

Kaii130d ago

Just exclude Infinite>5>4

ChasterMies130d ago

Best to worst: Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 4, Halo ODST, Halo Infinite, Halo 5.

The 7 Best Xbox 360 Games - Console Exclusives Win the Day

The Xbox 360 was a fantastic console in its day with some truly classic titles, but what are the seven best games for the console?

DrDoomer168d ago

I'm pretty used to these lists being bad, but this one is particularly s#ite.

raWfodog167d ago

I think Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon should have been added to the list.

BrainSyphoned168d ago

I'll go with,
Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Culdcept Saga, Shadow Complex, Ace Combat 6 with the flight stick,A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings.
Bonus Kinect Games: Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street.
*Skyrim was so bad on PS3 that it almost deserves to be #1*

Husker42c168d ago

I really loved Shadow Complex.

P_Bomb167d ago

Ah yes, Shadow Complex! Good indies back in the day. Summer of Arcade. I enjoyed Trials Evolution as well.

ChasterMies168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Was this made by a.i.? No human being would put Shadowrun, Fable III, and Splinter Cell: Conviction into a list of the 7 best Xbox 360 games.

Abnor_Mal168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Would love to play Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but Xbox decided to buy exclusivity and keep it off a competing platform.

The only mainline game I never played except for one level at a friends place. Game sold less than any other in the series if I remember correctly.

darthv72167d ago

360 had Namco hitters AC6 and RR6... both quality titles. You should at least bust out the 360 for AC6 if you can score the flight stick. Its great.

Hofstaderman167d ago

When the current gen XBOX offering is so lacking people need to refer to games released two generations back....

Profchaos167d ago (Edited 167d ago )

It's a nostalgia peice same reason we get thousands of YouTube videos on sega genisis. Something people have fond memories for but the era is long gone.

It's xboxs golden year imo it was their genisis years the time where they stuck it to the market leaders Sony.

BehindTheRows167d ago

They stuck nothing. Sony screwed themselves giving Xbox an opening. They would have gotten the usual smack down if the PS3 had launched at $399 and was easier to develop for.

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

darthv72179d ago

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

isarai179d ago

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ179d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil179d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces
