Alan Wake Development Hasn't Gone Smoothly (But Is Still Going)

Kotaku reports: "Alan Wake! We miss you! You showed your face, got us all excited, then buggered off and haven't been seen for months. That kind of business normally leads to speculation that a game's been canned. Speculation Remedy want to dispel immediately, with a post on the game's official boards saying:"

As long as its still in development and not canned then its all good

Bnet3435753d ago

Agreed, they can take their time. Just make it go all smooth and it's all good.

I think we will find out soon enough that a game in development for too long will only hurt the final product (as in too many expectations and not living up to the hype), in most cases this has been proven true. Take Too Human for example.

HDDVD_ftw5753d ago

Yeah sure ! Look, Too Human is crap and it took 10 years, so let's wait 20 years and maybe Alan Wake will be ok. The console will be dead though... : /

I hope they dont show us anything about Alan Wake until its less than a year from release.

But since they had trouble with development then it means the game wasnt good enough , they should take their time and not show anything until they got everything right.

Well, 4 years definitely isn't too long for a game studio consisting of only 30 devs. Usually small and gifted team with lots of development time leads to great game. The smaller the team, the easier it is to manage a project.

I'm really interested in this game. Its going to be tough to live up to expectations at this stage though.

SixTwoTwo5753d ago (Edited 5753d ago )

Not really. Look at Killzone 2. People we're laughing at that game for years and look at it now. I'm hyped for Alan Wake too and can't wait to play it on my PC. It will probably be out next fall. It just seems like the perfect holiday horror title.

This is a game that looked good back then, but now,it's average [even though it would be the best looking title on the 360] lol

drdre745753d ago

its been so long since I seen anything on this I forgot all about it. I was thinking Alone in the Dark was the same game for second then it hit me that it wasn't.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran834d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto33d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia34d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie33d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos33d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie33d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh33d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
