Sony has such an expansive list of first party studios

maybelovehate3040d ago

Sony has awesome studios, but honestly none of their first party games so far for PS4 have been that great. Second Son, Killzone, Knack, Order, DriveClub were all kind of mediocre. Last of Us Remaster was amazing of course, but does that count? And Bloodborne was amazing so the second party is doing well.

Hopefully this is the year their first party studios get to work!

NotanotherReboot3040d ago

Second Son was pretty good, but the worst in the series. Killzone had fun online, which many overlooked. The others were meh though

Rimeskeem3040d ago

The Order is great for how much it is now. Knack is actually good, the people who judged it without playing it are the ones missing out. Driveclub is easily one of the best racers this gen. Killzone was fine, not bad, not great though.

@Rime. I got Knack on lauch and can say it's a 5 or 6/10 at best. Feels like bloated tech demo, that was desperately in need of actual platforming and variety

Knushwood Butt3040d ago

Currently on my third run through Knack.

It does have issues, but is fairly solid. Also packs a challenge if you up the difficulty. Also, I don't really find that punching stuff gets boring as you really need to time it well to succeed. You can't just scrub the game.

Driveclub is far from meh.

Curious if they will go into their 2nd party studios, as that is a long list as well, especially outside the US. Many have ties/assistance from first party studios and/or their xdev and ICE teams. Which are mentioned, but could confuse some people.

It's probably the main reason why I feel this gen has been a tad underwhelming so far.

There just hasn't been many standout games to me. I had all 3 console and PC, and there are some good games, and some great games, but there hasn't been a single game IMO, that just blows last-gen away and shows why the PS4 / XBO / Wii U are much better than last gen.

Looking at 2016, Uncharted 4 looks like it'll be the first game to attempt to fix that.

I think The Last of Us, really spoiled any game after it for me, and I also think I'm in a gaming rut, where I've played so many games that aren't at that level, that I'm starting to grow tired of it.

I think I need a break.

Really love to see what Sucker Punch, Santa Monica and Sony Bend are doing. Theyve been quiet for so long, it must be something substantial and I hope its not just predictable sequels, especially for Santa Monica. I dont think we need another GoW if its starring Kratos. Rather see a Heavenly Sword 2.

Also Evolution have to be doing something other than Driveclub DLC, and it surely must be Motorstorm.

Would not be surprised if Naughty Dog announce something else shortly after Uncharted 4 is out. Could be TLoU2 or a new IP announce at E3.

Exciting times ahead.

bradleejones3040d ago

I sure wish there was another Motor storm the first one rocked.

OB1Biker3040d ago (Edited 3040d ago )

I'm really one for announcing games early simply because I like to know what's going on but would be way to early for ND to announce a new game this year IMO and if anything we might hear more about Uncharted dlc.

Bathyj3040d ago

They have 2 teams. They're next game could be a year away for all we know.

Ruggadagod3040d ago

I'm still not sure how Naughty Dog got TLOU to run on the PS3. Simply amazing. Truly. Other developers just don't have that passion and talent.

VsAssassin3040d ago

I cannot wait for E3 2016. Sony Bend's game should be there or I will go nuts! Sony Santa Monica should also announce something of their own. I like they Xdev projects, but it has been a long time since they gave us something in-house. Sucker Punch could go also surprise us with a new IP!

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM123d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck123d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati123d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion
