There are games out there that do not need co-op, these are three of them.

Dead Space 3 problem was not only the Co-op.
1- The damn horde mode that is activated in the game where there are tons of enemies coming at you.
2- The locked content behind Co-op.
3- And there should have been offline Co-op if you are gonna lock content because of it.
4 - Microtransactions
5 - The resources in the game feels like it was build through out the MT system, there was never enough Tungsten to make a great weapon.
6- Human Enemies
7- The rolling move is useless
8- Dismembering was useless and the game was more about how many bullet you can put in an enemy and less about strategically dismembering enemies unlike Dead Space 1 and 2.
9- The game was designed for Co-op.
9- The game felt rushed.

Dead Space 3

But Resident Evil 5

Look what this game could have been without co-op, once co-op was added all these things of the original vision for the game were dropped.

It felt like a proper successor to Resident Evil 4

the crafting system connected to the MT's was decided half way through development, because EA wanted them to implement something like it. The interviews where this is revealed, is probably still somewhere on the internet.

Anyways, the rest of it is pretty much spot on. They already made Resident Evil's mistakes, but in less time. Hell, they even said Dead Space 2 was ''too scary'' as well.

Yeah a very scary game (DeadS 2)was scaring micro-transaction loving kids away. EA clearly had to step in and save the day...

Human enemies is a terrible point to be basing an argument on. If you even remotely liked the series and played the previous games (including the various spin-offs including the Wii game) before DS3, this is evident.

Look at the general progression of the series and you can obviously see it was bound to happen that sooner or later humans (Unitologists as well as EarthGov) were going to become a strong enemy for Isaac alongside the necromorphs and an other alien species that was hiding out there. "Human enemies" argument is a pointless stance and just a contrived scapegoat for why someone would hate the game when that's where it would have went anyway.

I actually really enjoyed RE5's co-op. Not a popular opinion, I know, but stil. It was a lot of fun.

DarkOcelet3041d ago

It was really good but being with an AI Partner in the SP campaign was not a good idea. But Co-op was excellent for Mercenaries. My favorite Co-op game last gen.

Nyxus3041d ago

Yeah I can understand it wouldn't be as fun if you're not playing in co-op. I only played it in singeplayer once and it was okay, but it really shines when playing with someone else.

I think Elder Scrolls Online shows you that online in ANY form will not work for a main Elder Scrolls game...even Fallout.

Halo4isTrash3040d ago

You're wrong there, if it had just been "Skyrim" - added co-op , it would of been perfect, it would have everything great about ES, & having the ability to play with friends.

-Foxtrot3040d ago

It wouldn't be perfect because coop would have wasted development time and some of the games features probably wouldn't have been made

man i hope the next deadspace goes back to its roots
