Escape from Tarkov will make no feature compromise for consoles, the developer confirmed. Graphics quality will also be lower.

Looks great, idk about lower graphics part, and VR support is good !

Neonridr3041d ago

they are just saying that the PC version will look better.

AizenSosuke3041d ago

@ neon

I know that but should of been more clear about it.

InactiveUser3041d ago (Edited 3041d ago )

Not 'will look better'.. has the potential to, depending on your hardware.

"Graphics will be lower" for ~95%+ of PC users also. Since promo shots and trailers will be on the highest possible settings.

But let's keep talking like "PC" is a singular product with universal capability.. /s

There was an article posted recently, in the past couple weeks or so that showed barely any PCs were capable of 4K (something like 1-3%, if that). I think it may have been Steam statistics, I don't remember exactly, but you'll constantly hear talk about how "PC" does this or that, when in reality barely any are fully capable or performing to whatever standard they're trying to claim "PC" does.

Here, I think I found it..
http://www.mweb.co.za/games...

"Only 10% of Steam users have the potential to run games at 1080p ultra-settings at 60 FPS looking at the VRAM statistics."

Lamboomington3041d ago

@EeJLP

The Steam Statistics thing is illogical. The majority of those people don't want to do dedicated gaming in the first place. The majority of them play games like Dota 2, which doesn't require a powerful PC at all and has only basic graphics. Counter Strike is another one. I play Dota 2 on a laptop with integrated graphics. So, for example, when you include me as part of those statistics, it paints the wrong picture. I had a powerful gaming PC a couple of years back, and will get another one when I can.

Ofcourse only 10% of steam userbase can run games at 1080p 60fps. That makes complete sense.

Needless to say, if you actually took the total numbers, the number of people using steam would be monumental. Much, much larger than console user bases combined.
10% out of that is... a really big number of people.

Neonridr3040d ago

@EeJLP - of course it has the potential to. I am merely stating that the comment was to indicate that the PS4 version will have to be toned down compared to what we are seeing here.

However if you have a PC that is even from the past 3 years you have the potential to run a better looking version of the game over the PS4 since the graphics card is about on par with a Radeon 7850 / 7870.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that the PS4 was an inferior product or anything, I own one and use it all the time.

I also own an i5-6600k with a GTX 970, so give me an option of where to run this game and I will choose PC due to the increased settings I can run it at.

Phunkydiabetic13040d ago

@EeJLP

Hahahaha why do you have so many disagrees? What you said is logical and......ohhhhhh wait. Wait it is because it is a comment directed towards neckbeard pc owners. I forgot. They are incredibly sensitive.

EeJLP- Um, no. Your entire argument is irrelevant. PC game developers tend to cater to the highest possible configuration, then make all of the settings scalable down from there. It doesn't take that much effort to allow your game to properly scale to the resolution of our choice. That's the beauty of PC gpus, we have options that console gamers can't even imagine. The last steam survey I did, I had three 1440 screens, and a 65" 4K connected at once. I wasn't the only one. It shows your statistics compared to other users. Most of my friends haven't even been given the survey.

The fact that you feel the need to expand upon their definition of "looking better" to try to inflate the quality that will be seen on consoles, by saying that most PC users won't have it looking better than the console crowd, is a MASSIVE stretch. Haha.

Even with PC gamers who only game at 1080, will not only have way more frames, they will have native 1080, with tons of graphical options that don't appear on consoles. Even the minimum spec systems, will typically vastly outperform the archaic tech of the consoles.

It's okay to not be hardcore enough to game at more than 900, sometimes 1080. Not all of us have deep enough pockets, or care about improved input response, no screen tearing, or 144 frames per second. Being more casual is totally fine. In fact, that's exactly the purpose of consoles, to cater to the casual crowd that just wants to press power, and pick up a controller.

InactiveUser3041d ago (Edited 3041d ago )

Define 'hardcore'. Advantages over other players? I prefer an even playing field, not everyone on different resolutions, frame rates, graphics, effects, input devices, etc. If you're talking single player, I'm with you, obviously better is better, but multiplayer-wise 4k144 ultra vs 720p60 low (as an example) wouldn't fit my definition of hardcore. It's just an uneven playing field and somewhat pay to win.

You say my 'argument' is irrelevant, yet my statement, was just a reminder that "PC" isn't a product that exists and talking like a high spec PC equals "PC" as a singular object and that anyone with any PC configuration will achieve better results is far from the truth.

I'm also clearly not attempting to inflate console quality, seeing as I didn't mention any consoles or console in general in my statement. I was doing the opposite.. deflating the false, inflated aura of "PC".

Your first paragraph talks about your own personal configuration and that of some friends, which does not address the ~9x% of PC gamers who do not have a setup like yours.

In your third paragraph you're stating assumptions as fact. What percentage will have more frames? Because you're stating it as though 100% will, when that's extremely unlikely to be true.

And again, I don't see how hardware advantages translate to "hardcore" unless your definition of hardcore is just how much money you spend. Skill vs skill, on an even playing field, would be closer to my definition of hardcore.

Lastly, how deep must our pockets be to be as cool as you? Just curious since you chose to get dopey about it and think because people prefer plug and play and an even playing field instead of an uneven playing field, constantly dicking around with hardware upgrades/BIOS or whatever, that somehow translates to being poor.

Spoonsx3040d ago (Edited 3040d ago )

@Eejlp That's a poor man's attitude. Stop being poor. The PC Master Race has spoken!

ccgr3041d ago

Looking forward to more VR titles!

Festano3041d ago

I am not. 4K gaming all the way!

_LarZen_3041d ago

Yeah watching a game on a screen is so much more fun then actually being inside it.....wait a sec....nvm that was a brain fart.

@Roadhouse

"Games in 4k on PC is just upscale so it looks fake compare to real 4k"

Prove it.

Salooh3040d ago (Edited 3040d ago )

Both are amazing tech but haven't reach a point where we are using them right, it's like youtube videos. Even if it provides 4k or vr or even 60fps option to the video doesn't mean that they are good because most of the time the content is not made for these things from ground and if it did only few are doing it right...

That's what he is saying :)...

Uh, @roadhouse, you are talking out of your rear. I have yet to run into a game that didn't run natively on my 4K screen. This isn't a console. We don't upscale unless it's by choice. It doesn't look "fake" compared to real 4K. The PC will display almost everything at the resolution you select, and it fills every pixel. Maybe I'm just in the "incredibly small" minority of gamers that cares about those things enough to have a powerful PC. And 4K is a breeze to run compared to 7776 x 1440. Stick to the console talk.

Imp0ssibl33041d ago

4K is a revelation, tried it at a friend's...

Now I'm jealous because I can't afford it :(

ShottyGibs3040d ago

@roadhouse

Lol someone has no idea what his talking about.. his name is Roadhouse

codelyoko3041d ago

Game looks very nice. Not so sure about VR support though, rather they focus the limited budget on making it good on a single screen.

Alexious3041d ago

I would definitely agree with that. This is a hardcore game, playing it in VR isn't going to be comfortable anyway.

Imp0ssibl33041d ago

Glad to hear one developer speaking the truth instead of catering to the weakest platform and telling us that all versions will be the same.
