IGN:
Oculus Rift creator, Palmer Luckey, talks about his vision for virtual reality and why the $600 price of the Rift is justified.
IGN Entertainment has acquired the Gamer Network family of digital brands for an undisclosed sum. As a result of the acquisition, some redundancies have been made across the UK-based organisation.
Well this can only mean one thing... more job layoffs even in the publication industry.
Probably Microsoft's fault!
They surely gave IGN the idea.
What's next IGN Pass?
But joke aside let's hope that this makes the news better compared to some of IGN branches
Oh boy! If we've learned one thing about recent news, corporate shrinkage of an industry via buyouts from those at top only leads to good things for employees and consumers!
Ummmm not sure that’s a good thing that all these review sites are under the same umbrella. There’s no guarantee that they will maintain a non-bias opinion not paid for by the highest bidder.
Ouch, that does not sounds good for Eurogamer.
With so much of the industry media that will more or less follow the same editorial line, it will be harder and harder to distinguish PR from actual journalism in a couple of years.
Thinking about it, may it explain their review score for Hellblade 2?
Nintendo Has Acquired Shiver Entertainment From Embracer Group
Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform
Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal
I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.
Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."
You can't make this crap up lol
2K Games will take the stage at Summer Game Fest, and it is about time we got some good news about the state of Mafia 4's development.
I hope it's Mafia 4. And I really hope it's set during the 70s or 80s, and not a prequel of the first game as was rumoured.
"With competitors like the PlayStation VR and HTC Vive, content will be spread across different platforms and you may want to see what content is available on which platform before you choose. “There’s always going to be content exclusives. With Oculus Studios, it’s not exclusive to the Rift, but exclusive to the store. We want to sell those games. It doesn’t make sense for us to sell our games through other people because the more money we can keep on our end, the bigger budgets we have for making games. In the case of Sony, they’re appealing to PlayStation owners. There’s not really fragmentation there because there was never going to be a unified market of PlayStation and Oculus. It’s a good thing we have so many people getting in[to VR]. It was hard to convince developers that VR was going to be real,” said Luckey."
This is a very good thing, it shows that the companies Making VR are looking to grow the VR market, not just run it as a slit or fragmented market.
Its a great market being built up to for gamers & Consumers that want to experience VR, and with plenty of options now for VR ranging from Gear VR & Dive VR and Google cardboard entry level etc VR to HTC : Vive, playstation VR & Oculus Rift.
I think as a growth market VR holds Quite a bit of promise moving forward.
but what games? need more than one to push the hardware.

If people are not paying attention one of the most played games ever is going to be in VR!

Good video review of Samsung + Oculus Gear VR.
Shows what even entry point level VR is like in a taste of things to try out with a smartphone VR.
