10 PS2 Games We Want on PS4 Emulation

GameRant:

With Sony vowing to regularly release PS2 games on PS4, upscaled and with trophy support, Game Rant looks at 10 games we’d like to see get the emulation treatment.

One of the biggest (and most popular) announcements of 2015 was Sony’s reveal that it would be bringing PS2 games to PS4, upscaled and with trophy support. The news was fantastic given just how many classic franchises and titles the PS2 introduced, but, with just a handful of games having been made available so far (such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and The Mark of Kri) there are still plenty of more that could get the emulation treatment.

I want proper remakes or even new entries. Emulation is boring.

I'm totally with you on new entries, man. I'm as interested in PS2 on PS4 as there are games I want to play. As it stands, there aren't any I want. I do hope that there are some games that appeal to me, personally, but it is certainly good for the people that enjoy having easier access to these games.

I don't entirely understand the point of these "emulated" experience to be frank. You have a bunch of games that get HD Remasters and cost $40 for usually 2 games in a series. They do all the same things - pretty up the resolution, add trophies, up the framerate, etc. They also generally pretty up the textures, tweak gameplay, fix existing bugs if necessary...things that don't happen in emulation.

But honestly, how much more expensive can the HD Remasters be to make then? On average, your PS2 HD Collections have the average game running you, what, $20 per title? If you did individual game remasters for smaller titles/non-franchise games and did PSN distribution (as to remove physical production costs), wouldn't you think that'd put the pricing pretty close to current "emulated" titles? The cheapest PS2 emulated games are like $10, with most running $15 right?

Obviously these games are much quicker to produce when they can pump out a dozen at once for launch. So production on these titles are close enough to remasters that they are only maybe $5 cheaper, at the most, on average? The math doesn't make sense to me. On the face of it, this just seems like Sony trying to find a way to get more money from older properties while investing far less money and effort in them.

TLDR: The line between "emulation" and Remaster are blurred by their features, but the pricing doesn't seem to reflect the differences in production costs.

Dino Crisis, God of War 1&2, Manhunt, Silent Hill 2&3, etc... There are too many to name. We're talking about the most expansive lineup in console history.

I mostly just want The Warriors and a few JRPG's

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

Skuletor24d ago

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.
