I wonder when we will here more on Below? That game seems like its been shrouded in media silence for a while now.

YinYangGaming3050d ago

IGN had some quite extensive gameplay with developer commentary recently and devs said it was on schedule so can't wait for this game, looks so interesting!

FlipSwitch3050d ago (Edited 3050d ago )

This article needs amending. Cuphead, Recore, Halo Wars 2, sea of thieves and Below are not xbox one exclusive.

Why is it everyone is always trying to make it sound like Xbone has more exclusives than it actually has?

The list of real exclusives for xbone is very small.

OC_MurphysLaw3050d ago

Coming to Windows 10 PC... yes we know. Un-ruffle the feathers and relax, they are console exclusive to xbox one but coming to PC. Do you feel better now?

FlipSwitch3050d ago

The article clearly says xbox one exclusives. If a game is coming to pc it is not exclusive. It becomes multiplatform. Thats the way it is

OC_MurphysLaw3050d ago

I get it... it should be better worded like "9 Xbox One Console Platform Exclusives to Watch for in 2016 that also will come to PC but not WiiU or PS4" It has a good ring to it.

poppinslops3050d ago

If they're not coming to Nintendo or Playstation then they might as well be exclusives - The Witness is launching on PC and iOS, No Man's Sky is launching on PC and so is Firewatch, yet they still feature in the 'best PS4 exclusives' lists... Most of the games we've listed will sell better on console - they'll have the best ports and the best post-release support.

FlipSwitch3050d ago (Edited 3050d ago )

They could have kept the title but actually listed xbox one exclusives of which there are 4 in this list instead of claiming otherwise.

@poppins. Those aren't exclusives either and I don't see them listed on PS4 exclusive lists. Ps4 doesn't need them to pad it's list.

PS4 real exclusives include.
Uncharted 4
Ratchet & clank
The Last guardian
Horizon.
Nier 2
Ni No Kuni 2
Dreams
GT Sport
Detroit

MrSec843050d ago

@DIacy13g: The title for this article should be "9 Microsoft to watch for in 2016"

Still has a nice ring to it, but it isn't a lie.

ArmrdChaos3050d ago

I guess the bigger question you should ask is why does this bother you and why should you care?

poppinslops3050d ago (Edited 3050d ago )

Because LIST WAAARS!!!!

Uncharted, the Last Guardian and Ratchet and Clank were delayed from last year (or last-gen), Nier and Ni No Kuni don't have release dates and I'd bet money on Horizon being the next big game to be delayed into 2017... that or Mass Effect.

Kiwi663050d ago

What is you're problem as they're still exclusive to the xbox one console much like when a ps4 game is also on pc its still called a ps4 exclusive yet you don't get upset over that but you do when its to do with xbox

SynestheticRoar3050d ago

Their coming to my PC, and why do I need a X-1 then.

christocolus3049d ago

@Flip

You sure do love Xbox or you wouldnt keep popping into every article that has Xbox in the title. The listed games are all console exclusive to Xbox One and without an Xbox One or a windows 10 PC there aint no way to play them. I dont even know why this bothers you so much? Go cool off or something..

Vegamyster3049d ago

@poppinslops

"If they're not coming to Nintendo or Playstation then they might as well be exclusives"

Why? You make it sound like PC games don't sell anything lol.

Most of the games we've listed will sell better on console - they'll have the best ports and the best post-release support."

Have anything to back that up?

http://www.dsogaming.com/ne...

icerob3049d ago

Dear Mr FlipSwitch.
There is not a single PS4 exclusive game that we would be excited about except maybe Uncharted 4. If we wanted a PS4 we would have bought the damn thing. Please take your comments to your respected PS4 related topics.

MrEnglish3049d ago

Maybe you would be happy if it said "Microsoft Exclusive" because at the end of the day that's what it is.....

Also xbo is now heavily embedded in Windows 10 for gamming so if we all want to split hairs we could say Xbox Exclusive...

Console exclusive
Microsoft Exclusive

Either of those will stop people with bizarre video game library insecurities on both sides getting all upset

poppinslops3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

@Vega - Every game listed in your article (with the exception of Lords of the Fallen) was a cross-gen title, most saw a delay between the old and new versions and were old news by the time the XO versions released... whoever made that comparison should have factored in sales of the 360 versions.

Regardless, I stand by my prior statement... my PC is more than capable of playing these console-exclusives, but I can't be arsed with the crashes, hotfixes and general bull$#!t it takes to get 'em running, so I'm getting the console versions - even if that means buying a PS4.

Vegamyster3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

@poppinslops

There is plenty of current gen only games that have outsold the Xone on PC if you wanna dig, don't see why 360 sales should count when they're two separate consoles.

"Regardless, I stand by my prior statement... my PC is more than capable of playing these console-exclusives, but I can't be arsed with the crashes, hotfixes and general bull$#!t it takes to get 'em running"

This isn't the XP era, those issues your talking about are far and few between, the only game last year with significant issues that i can name is Batman and lets not pretend like consoles run games perfectly either. What's your specs & Steam ID?

BlitzKing3049d ago

They're called "Microsoft Exclusives." That's more sufficient. And no, the list isn't small at all considering only Xbox One players can play them and Windows 10 users.

poppinslops3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

@Vega - Pretty sure my Steam ID is also Poppinslops... that said, it's been over a year since I logged in, so I don't see why you'd want to know that.

So far, the only game I've gotten from Steam was the Witcher (the first one) - it took me a week of screwing around in forums to find a fix (steam/valve were no help) and I was still forced to run it at min-settings... as to my PCs specs, it's got an i5 with 8gb RAM, a GTX970 and a big-arse fan.

Satisfied?

Vegamyster3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

@poppinslops

To be be blunt, it's kinda hard to believe you. You basically said PC games don't sell good enough, you think all these "console exclusives" have horrible issues on PC and consoles are always optimized better then PC<-- Go look at Digital Foundry using a GTX 750 Ti + i3. What do you play on this PC that requires a 970 & i5?

poppinslops3049d ago

Well, I pirated Fez last night (360 version is unfinished - Phil Fish can suck it), but it's the only PC game I've gotten since the Witcher... for a moment I thought it too was crashing, but that turned out to be a part of the game (again, Phil Fish can suck it)... Most of my PC was given to me by friends and workmates (I work in IT), but it probably won't be pushed until Star Citizen (by which point I'll have upgraded), though I will be getting XCom 2 (so long as Firaxis doesn't announce a console version).

guyman3049d ago

Lmao. the goal post moving is real with fanboys.. if it's coming to a console and pc, it's simply not an exclusive (even by definition)

Sea of Thieves has so much potential. I hope they include cross play (idk if it's been confirmed yet). MS have been giving PC players more attention which is good for all gamers.

Can people stop this "If they're coming to PC why get an X1"?
So they're suppose to ignore the millions that already have one?
Everyone has a budget so consoles are a far cheaper alt.
Casual players out number gamers (those who know the diff in specs/res/fps of PC/consoles).
Anything bought on PC (Windows) is a win for MS. They're also giving you an "option" to pick a different platform.
More sales, bigger audience and more players yet some try to spin this in a negative light.

Yet people still find a way to moan when given "choices" for gaming.

Edit: Sorry about all the editing. Just wanted to make sure my point came across clearly!

I agree. MS won't bring juggernauts like Gears 4 or Halo 5 (or should I say Halo 6 now?) but bringing new IP to both XB1 and PC means a bigger audience, more sales, more success and better chance of sequels so I'm not complaining at all! Giving gamers a choice where to play is a really good move on Microsoft's part and fact is console dudes will play console and pc dudes will play pc just like they always have but cross play on non-fps titles is a welcome feature too

Seafort3049d ago

"Anything bought on PC (Windows) is a win for MS." - That is not true. The only way Microsoft gain from PC sales is if they are the publisher.

Most of the time Microsoft isn't the publisher for PC releases unless the game's developer is owned by MS.

christocolus3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

But all the titles on that list also coming to PC are under the Xbox umbrella. They are all going to be published by MS and will be released on windows 10 in the windows store(same for any 3rd party title released on the windows store).... MS will definitely make money off that and even if some of the titles listed above end up on steam its still gonna be more money for MS.

christocolus3049d ago (Edited 3049d ago )

"Sea of Thieves has so much potential. I hope they include cross play "

There's definitely going to be cross play. KI will feature cross play and i think Gears ultimate edition too not so sure about that but sea of thieves is going to be a very big social game and cross play would make perfect sense, after all both games exist in the windows 10 ecosystem shouldnt be that hard to incorporate cross play.

@Lennoxb63

Thanks for clearing that up.

Lennoxb633049d ago

Gears Ultimate won't be cross play but it will be cross buy.

NeoGamer2323049d ago

Agreed. And further to your thoughts:

1) Why does anyone prefer to be able only to run a game on one specific console device? - The person is saying I prefer to only game on one device vs. being able to game on phone, tablet, PC, and console.

2) Many people complain when games like Tomb Raider and Street Fighter do exclusivity, but when it comes to first parties they encourage exclusivity. So which is it, do you want exclusives or not?

3) To me, exclusivity is black mail and does not sell devices on the merits and features of the device. I want to buy a device based on its merits and features. Not based on "If I don't buy that device I can't play XYZ". I personally prefer Windows devices. That's why I buy XB, Windows PCs, Windows Tablets, and (yes, one of the few that buy) Windows Phone. To me, it isn't me that loses out when I can't play a game on one of those devices, it is the game publisher choosing not to take my money.

Inside came to Xbox thanks to a phone call from Phil Spencer

The Xbox CEO's personal intervention led to a exclusivity deal with Microsoft, reveals Playdead co-founder Dino Patti.

You mean this guy that put one of his games on gamer pass and says it hurts sales:

https://videogames.si.com/f...

“We did a pretty good deal,” Patti says. “I also think it hurts sales. Because a lot of people just go in and try it and they don't invest. If they don't like the first 10 minutes? That’s it. Also, if you don't make the first 10 minutes amazing, maybe it's also a problem. I think [Game Pass] is okay. It's not my favorite. My favorite is the old premium model where I sell you on some video, on big images, and earn your $30. And then after that, I have to deliver. I don’t need to get money out of you later.”

He and his partner were smart in the fact to tell Sony shit no in owning the IP of Limbo. As for Inside, it's a great game. Music, atmosphere, everything is on point. Xbox got some time exclusivity. And Phil threw money at it. Luckily it wasn't permanent in that I wouldn't have been able to play it. Probably sold more on PlayStation though. But Play Dead sure knew how to make simple but fun side scroller games with puzzles in them. I would buy the next game like those. And knowing the guy, he would want me to buy his next game and earn his money that way.

coolbeans275d ago

You have an uncanny ability to turn little one-off stories into a tangential spiel with no ultimate purpose. What's anyone expected to get out of this?

"Did you know a developer who got a timed exclusivity deal with MS *ISN'T* a fan of a service that came out years later?"

I mean... okay? I guess the original story about Nice Guy Phil has been negated now or something?

PapaBop273d ago (Edited 273d ago )

"You have an uncanny ability to turn little one-off stories into a tangential spiel with no ultimate purpose."

He probably learned that from MS.

ChasterMies275d ago

“Not only was Microsoft responsible for much of the game's marketing at various trade shows and conventions, but the timed exclusivity was kept very brief, as the PS4 version of Inside was released just a few months after its debut on Xbox One.”

A lot of folks think these deals are all about cash payments, but often the consideration is marketing. My guess is that this will be less so on Xbox now that Microsoft has all those studios to market.

TricksterArrow274d ago

Plus, hasn't Inside sold more on PS than Xbox? Major win for the developers.

__SteakDeck__274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

So Phil did what he was complaining in court that Sony was doing. Lol

-Foxtrot274d ago

He’s one of the biggest hypocrites in the industry…of course

Outside_ofthe_Box274d ago

Phil is such an 'aggressive competitor'.

rippermcrip274d ago

Headline acts like this game was never coming to Xbox. Not true. It was going to be probably a 1 year exclusive to Sony. Spencer probably gave them the same money to make it 3 months for Microsoft instead.

Flakegriffin274d ago

So he did his job?

Congrats? 😂
