Is revisiting Excite Truck worth your time?
If the Nintendo Switch wants to avoid becoming the next Wii U, they should make sequels to these underrated Wii games immediately.
PixlBit | "Now that we’re just waiting around for our Wii U pre-orders to be fulfilled, we’ve started thinking back on our Wii experience. There were great games and there were stupid, gimmicky games. There was the much maligned 480p output and the long wait for external storage. There were also the channels."
TGC writes: With Wii U not too far away now, it’s time for us to get all nostalgic and look back over the last six years, during which the Wii went on to become a worldwide phenomenon against the expectations of many. It has had its share of troubles, a struggle to gain acceptance among the enthusiast community and largely shunned by third party developers. Nonetheless it did develop a tremendously diverse library, certainly a lot more diverse than anything Nintendo achieved with the Gamecube. And the efforts of Nintendo’s first party properties, Mario, Link and the like, by and large remained strong.
Excite Truck is a blast to play, I got it as a pack-in with my Wii on Launch day. I didn't expect much when I turned it on, but it was a heck of a lot of fun.
Red Steel 2 is an incredible game, and I encourage everyone to give the game a go. Totally underappreciated gem. It definitely removes the sour taste the first one left in my mouth.
Excite Truck remains the reason why I kept my Wii. Astonishing game that people ignored on the basis they thought they knew best. Gamers are a dumb bunch at times
