Ex-Bioshock Devs Introduce You To Perception

IGN:
Former BioShock Lead Designer Bill Gardner plays and explains his new first-person horror game, Perception.

This game have devs from both Bioshock and Dead Space team. I think its gonne be awesome.

Austin483051d ago

Agreed I love both them games especially dead space.

freshslicepizza3051d ago

i think so too but this teaser was poorly done. the lack of game sound to add to the immersion is lost and watching someone just walk around doesn't really translate well to the viewer. still visually and the concept has me interested. plus the people working on it of course

Roccetarius3051d ago

I wouldn't call this unique. I've seen a similar game at an indie event, which was made by someone wanting to get into game development.

Fusion_Ninja3051d ago

All due respect to the devs' pedigree...but this looks tedious as hell.

I like the idea but the blind woman has a smartphone? from wich she can read text? Im confused.

Also we se things move, but wouldnt things that move be a bit distorted and to percieve fluid motion wouldnt the woman need to emit the echo sound at a greater frequency than every 3 seconds?

The concept of perception by echolocation is cool, I imagine that things could pop up at you if you arent paying attention, keeping tabs on what happens around you will be a little difficult as you have a limited range to what you can percieve and probably a choppy or poppy and distorted image of things that move depending on its speed and how well developed her echo skills are.

Im keeping an eye up for this but I think I need the phone explained and the moving things deal kind of takes me out of it but if it has good mood Ill probably get into it.

Hard to tell, but it *looks* like the phone is being used as a text-to-speech converter.

The Many Mistakes Commited By Modern Horror Games

Give me hope. Give me fear. Don't give me another walking simulator...

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Sadly, we live in a day and age in which not many horror games are released, and among those the good are few and far between. Sure, we have some good exceptions such as Resident Evil VII, The Evil Within 2, and Detention, but we’re also getting a ton of games completely plagued with lots and lots of frustrating horror game clichés."

Ugh, too many walking sim jump scare games lately. Hence why I really didn't enjoy Until Dawn. Not only was it bad jump scares, but the butterfly effect thing was pointless. All that changes is who runs out the front door at the end.

lptmg2205d ago

what the hell does Until Dawn have to do with walking sims?

Jinger2204d ago

Because that's all it essentially is. There is barely any interaction

TricksterArrow2204d ago

Or who dies and how they die much before that... In other words, the system working properly.

Fist4achin2204d ago

How about turning them into action shooters with tons of ammo at your disposal and your character an unstoppable bullet magnet...
