Fall of the Tomb Raider

Matt from Gamers Sphere says: "I like to think I have a good intuition. On August 12, 2014, I predicted that Rise of the Tomb Raider would tank commercially. I’m here to tell you that it seems I was right, not to boast and brag, but to point out that console exclusivity can absolutely crush a game. What does Crystal Dynamics do from here?"

Lara will have to disagree with you 'cause she shall Rise oh well she shall Rise, again and again..

Seriously, I know a few are upset they can't play Rise of' for a whole year.

Don't forget there will be a PC release next month or so...

You will definitely being seeing more of Lara..

TFJWM3063d ago

Why is that if someone talks about how bad the sales are it is suddenly because they can't play it right now. The sales are terrible right now for a AAA game that had a high ad budget. People that enjoyed the series have a right to be pissed, the sales do nothing but hurt the chance of a third game anytime soon

3063d ago
bouzebbal3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

thank you! finally a mature post.

Dino Crisis, Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue...
All these series litterally disappeared because the latest instalments performed so badly. Who doesn't want these franchises to come back?? But that ain't happening... result of bad marketing and wrong exclusivity deals!

Shenmue has a massive aura and even despite that the sequel is only a kickstarter project. What a pity!

I was the biggest SEGA fan, and i have been hating them since they deliberately killed these franchises.. and MS by the same occasion

Godmars2903063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

@Hazardman79:
So pissed off TR fans = didn't buy a X1 to play the game?

Better to ask why current X1 owners didn't spend $60 as apposed to someone shelling out $359 for said experience. The answer becomes rather obvious.

UltraNova3063d ago

And here I am wondering why some people are online defending TR's sales instead of going out and buying the damn game...

Ezz20133063d ago

They like the idea that Ps4/PC owners are pissed that they can't play ROTR
Yet they don't explain why Xbox owners also can't play it even though it's on their system.

I will not buy ROTR on Ps4...not because i'm angry or pissed
but because i don't like the reboot at all
didn't even finish the PC version.

Then buy the bloody game, no one is holding your hand back from doing so.

Back on topic, The game is good, who cares if it broke records or not. Quality over Quantity. Glad the game got release. Its fantastic Looking forward to the sequel.

Game has sold 500m not including digital sales.

@Hazardman79

Us fans should stop? Here's my issue as a fan who has supported series through less stellar entries: I'm a customer who has supported the series through less stellar entries. SE rewarded that by being greedy and taking me for granted. Now, you want me to go buy the game, sending SE the message that they can do stuff like this and without worry because I'll still be there if it blows up in their face? Ha! Sorry. That's what happens when you're not only dumb enough to bite the hand that feeds you, but dumb enough to sellout to a console with half the fan-base and most of them dude-bro gamers.

So why isn't there a bunch of articles about the terrible sales of Dragon Quest and Disgaea 5?

These were considered the big PS4 exclusives for the holiday. And PS4 gamers talk about diversity all the time but according to these two games they don't buy diversity.

It is alright talking about poor sales on Xbox One, but, it seems there has been no articles about to substantial exclusives for the PS4 with an 80% larger install base had two exclusives. Disgaea 5 where it looks like sales are pathetic and Dragon Quest where sales are pretty much the same as Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Even Until Dawn has barely sold a million in 3 months. Where are the articles talking about that failure (Even though Sony said it exceeded expectations).

Microsoft said that Tomb Raider has done well and these articles pop up. Sony said Until Dawn exceeded expectations and no articles follow.

3063d ago
Kingthrash3603063d ago

I think it's less about the people who can't play it being bitter and more about the people who can play it and didn't buy it.
Honestly I think TR is a great game. I haven't bought it simply because there is so many games out now that I can wait for it to land on ps4 with most likly better performance and/or res...plus it will most likly come with all dlc free and a cheaper price.
So it's not really that people are bitter it's that with such a back log of games to be played why not wait? Main people who bought it are super fans of xbo only gamers...alot of gamers like myself has both consoles and would rather wait for the definitive verson and buy fallout cod halo battkefront this holiday season. Then next year we have horizon uncharted scalebound r&c deux ex quantum break tlg etc, etc to hold people over until it releases (for people with both consoles or only ps4)
Not to say TR shouldn't have made more sales....it just launched at the worst time of the year.

pompombrum3063d ago

@Neogamer I'm sorry but how on Earth can you compare Tomb Raider to Disgaea and DQ? Both are considered niche titles in the West with extremely limited marketing budgets. Tomb Raider has adverts for it on TV not to mention is an iconic series with an iconic strong female lead. I'm not going to join in on the doom and gloom rubbish for any of the games but that comparison is just stupid.

Volkama3063d ago

Premature celebration of his "intuition". It is only a commercial flop if/when the PC and PS4 versions release and don't sell.

I don't think the majority of people will be so petty as to pass up a good game because they don't like the marketing deal. And we are talking about a very good game.

BeefCurtains3063d ago

For me, I hardly saw any ads or commercials for the game. There was almost no hype. Definitely a contributing factor.

I don't mind that it was exclusive to X1. But the fact that it seems like Ms got exclusitivity just to lock out Ps4 owners, I don't agree with that at all. .

And it really looks like a dick move because in my opinion Microsoft didn't try very hard to sell this game.

Major_Glitch3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

All together now: "And this is why it's a DUMB idea to sign timed a exclusivity deal with anyone OTHER than Sony."
Go buy the game Xbox owners. You talked about it, now's your chance. Show us how much you care about Lara Croft. *Looks at Xbox One Software Sales Chart* Three shooters and Madden?! *facepalm*

Pixel_Enemy3062d ago

I bought an Xbox FOR this game and haven't beat it yet because I have been so invested in Fallout and it didn't grab my attention enough to play it to completion. Every time I pop it in I have to figure out the controls all over again and then a gap of time goes by that the next time I play it I have to do it again. This game was not really worth the hype and the only one's acting like it is something special are the Xbox fans who want to gloat about something and have nothing else to hold over anyone's head.

XanderZane3062d ago

I bought my copy of Tomb Raider and Fallout 4. Both games are great. Tomb Raider got great reviews all around. Silly that gamers haven't bought more copies of the game. Should sell over 1 million before the year is over. Sure it will sell well on the PC once it's released there.

s8anicslayer3062d ago

They betted on green but blue won.

rainslacker3062d ago (Edited 3062d ago )

The "you're a fan boy" argument exists solely for the purpose of dismissing any argument that is contrary to ones own. Some people don't like to think too much and just want to believe what they want, so they use that as an easy way to discredit anything they can't respond to with a reasoned argument, because that reasoned argument will more than likely refute their own bias.

The only time the "you're a fan boy" argument works is when the person actually is being a fan boy, and not making a rational argument in the first place.

I personally blame the nations school system. Coddling too much, and giving away praise for participation instead of achievement.

@Beef

OH MS advertised the game. It was featured in every commercial showing their awesome lineup since E3 2014. It remained there the whole time while MS kept saying best holiday lineup, and then suddenly, at E3 this year, when they announced the FO4 deal, TR was nowhere to be seen, except in the same old commercials, and some youtube trailers. MS had a conflict of interest IMO with taking on the FO4 deal and the TR deal. They had to know when both were releasing, and to do what they did is just not right. They knew FO4 would be the big seller this holiday, and they left TR out to dry because they didn't have to compete with UC4.

Pogmathoin3062d ago

In all fairness, the last Tomb Raider sold slowly, but eventually got to higher numbers.... So to say because its on Xbox that is ruining it is BS.... Even if it came out on PS4 at same time, judging by how well Fallout 4 sold on it, TR would still have done bad...... This story is nothing but what ifs.......

rainslacker3062d ago

I wouldn't say the original sold slowly off the bat. Probably not as well as it's marketing would support. It did pretty decent though early on, just that SE wanted it to do better.

What was interesting about the original reboot though was that it had long legs on last gen continuing to sell for quite a while as SE continued the marketing for it long after release...which is rare, and continued purchases through a remaster, which I feel was bolstered through a rather thin post launch release schedule from both companies

Cannot believe people are really this pissed that they cannot play Rise of the Tomb Raiderright now.

I wonder if XBox fans will make the same noise when SFV is released.

Also the person who wrote this article sounds really hurt.

barb_wire3063d ago

Big difference though is that Sony is funding the development of 'SFV' with Capcom and the PC version releases the same day as the PS4, S/E funded 'RotTR' only to take a deal that kept the game out of the hands of PC/PS4 gamers for amount of time and short term increase in money.

Sales wise, this game is a disaster.

JEECE3063d ago

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's such a big deal. The 2013 one was only okay, and this one isn't even selling where it's available. It's not like having to wait a year for Fallout or something.

kenwonobi3063d ago

It'll make no difference because PlayStation fans didn't effect Xbox gamers into not buying their own game. So if Street Fighter sells good it's not up to Xbox fans complaints.

DLConspiracy3063d ago

@barb

You are either for 3rd party exclusives of long standing franchises or you are not.

If either of these franchises (SFV or RotTR) were funded to get exclusivity by handing money over. Then there isn't a difference. Paying for developement costs or the costs of advertising still gets pulled from the developers pool of money to release the game. These are both long standing franchises that have been paid to keep their games from competing platforms for any length of time. Franchises that have been on all platforms and played everywhere. Seems pretty much the same to me. Both equally suck for fans who follow either. Neither gets a "well that's OK" pass in my book.

Regardless business happens. The surprising bit is that RotTR is a really great game and people are so quick to damn it.

Kribwalker3063d ago

Well said conspiracy. There is not grey area people telling themselves about. They both received money that went into the development pot, nothing else about it.

kayoss3063d ago

@TFJWM
I love the Tomb Raider reboot. I've not only bought the PS3 one but i've also but the definite version for the PS4. I was a little upset when i hear it will be a timed exclusive. But as a fan of the franchise, im not stupid enough to go out and buy a new console just for one game.
Xbox Fan been clamoring about how Tomb Raider is will be awesome and bragged about it before its released, but when it was released they did not support it.
When the game comes out to the PS4, i will definitely buy it for the ps4.

SouthernComfort3063d ago

But there IS a considerable difference between giving a company money to MAKE a game, and giving a company money to get a game FIRST.

If Tomb Raider was going to be released anyway, and if it were going to have marketing and publishing anyway- and this is Square Enix, who's in a much better financial position than Capcom, so these things were never going to be a problem- then it is NOT the same as Street Fighter, whose parent company would not have had the game made for YEARS.

There is also a difference as it pertains to WHERE the majority of each game's fans are. In both cases, the majority of fans are on PlayStation, which is backed up by the sales of every multiplat version of any game you want to use as an example from either franchise. Add to that the larger presence of one console in the world market, and you can see why one situation becomes a bigger deal than the other.

It really isn't as simple as "Both are third party exclusivity deals," no matter how much you'd like it to be seen that way.

shysun3062d ago

It's not that we can't play it, it's that so many chose not to play it. Xbox owners talked alot of crap about the game only being on thier console but no one bought it.smh

DLConspiracy3062d ago (Edited 3062d ago )

@Krib

Not many will agree with me but it's the truth. They can load me up with disagrees all they want. We know why they are disagreeing. 3rd party exclusives suck, but that's also why I own every console and PC.

The game is getting unjustified celebration of a supposed failure. Why else would an article like this reach TOP NEWS on N4G? It's because of the fanboys.

@shysun

"but no one bought it.smh"

What is the magic number over 500k that concludes people have actually bought the game? 501k? Can you answer that? Just curious. The people who were bragging about it being exclusive are the same type of idiots who a celebrating it not selling. "SMH"

When people say NOBODY BOUGHT IT. I Think to myself "man.. I wish I had 30 MILLION dollars (500k x $60 dollars) to blow" since 500k sold isn't a lot of money.

rainslacker3062d ago (Edited 3062d ago )

I'm not pissed I have to wait to play it. It will still be a good game when it comes out in the future.

I'm pissed that MS made a deal with FO4 as well, and shoved all their marketing into that despite the conflict of interest they had in relation to ROTTR.

I'm not pissed MS made multiple deals...I've came to the conclusion long ago these things were just a thing that weren't going to go away...but I am pissed they left ROTTR out to dry when they got the game to compete directly with Sony, but then jumped to greener pastures so the game didn't get the marketing it deserved.

I'm pissed that because of this deal, it could put the franchises future in jeopardy, because SE seems to have very high expectations for this series, and I have no doubt that if one installment doesn't live up to those expectations, they will leave it be until they decide to reboot it in 10 years, and in the meantime offer us cheap mobile versions, or crappy console versions which look like they come straight from the PS2.

Square screwed up with the deal, and I think they are getting a nice dose of medicine for their decision. But at the same time, I think MS really screwed this one up. Not because it was a brought timed exclusive, which is bad enough, but because they didn't even do their part to get the game sold. A game as well received as this one, with the presence of title that the IP affords, should not be struggling to get sales on any platform. The only logical explanation for that is a terrible marketing campaign, and FO4 would only be a marginal impact to sales.

BattleAxe3063d ago

Nobody knows the exact sales, which is why these articles are pretty stupid. Nobody knows how many digital copies of the game were sold. All estimates have been at retail only.

TFJWM3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

Umm considering most consoles games sell about 20% digital so even if you consider its 50% it would still not break a million. Also if you just consider retail to retail there is no reason to think a certain AAA game would sell so much more digital

LP-Eleven3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

The Order received the same articles claiming it flopped and hardly anyone batted an eye. All of a sudden, at least since Halo 5's release, it's all about digital vs retail. I find that interesting.

In regards to Tomb raider, I don't know if it "flopped" or not, but I can imagine it would have done much, MUCH better had it released on all three devices (or at least, X1/PS4 simultaneous release).

2pacalypsenow3063d ago

If sales were good they would be posted all over the place, why do you think MS stopped posting Xbox 1 sales figures?

YodaCracker3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

@LP-Eleven That would be because The Order was a huge failure critically, whereas the new Tomb Raider is highly rated and has already won a couple of GOTY awards. I'm not surprised more people would be willing to defend Tomb Raider.

LP-Eleven3063d ago

@ YodaCracker: The Order's reception is irrelevant to the point. No one questioned its digital sales, even though they may have been a contributing factor to its sales. It wasn't until Halo 5 didn't reach a "certain sales potential" that people started to question it.

Their Meta scores/reviews aren't relevant.

DigitalRaptor3063d ago

Retail sales make the lion's share out sales. Your argument is as silly as those trying to use potential digital sales to damage control Halo 5 being the lowest selling Halo game ever and underwhelming expectations.

https://twitter.com/ZhugeEX...

This tweet mocks those expecting some kind of overwhelming digital sales saviour. Nope. Based on all released figures, the game has barely cracked 250k globally. Digital sales are not going to fluff that failure for you, MS or Square Enix.

nitus103063d ago

Are you sure of that because it would not be difficult for the Microsoft or Sony for that matter to make digital sales figures available since all sales are recorded by computer.

Actually digital sale by their very nature are incredibly easy to track to the nearest one. Tracking physical sales is so much harder since more complex statistical analysis is needed which does result in uncertainties.

It could be argued that if digital sales are withheld for certain games then the company concerned would loose credibility and could easily be accused of fraud.

@TFJWM

I am not disputing what you said but were did you get those figures? As I have mentioned above digital sales are incredibly easy to track and accurate (the Tax Department demands this) to an almost insignificant percentage.

LeCreuset3063d ago

@nitus10

I don't see what you're getting at. Yes digital is easier to track. So, why hasn't MS given any stats from the digital sales to back up that the game sold "well." All you get is rhetoric from them. It sold "well." Even the language isn't that strong, from a PR perspective.

They wouldn't even have to give total digital sales if for whatever reason they didn't want to reveal sales. They could say something like 50% of RoTR sells were digital, if such were the case. It's not. But people will keep pointing to that grey area as if it's this big X-factor and only Xbox fans buy digital.

BeefCurtains3062d ago

I don't get why they don't include digital sales either. Seems pretty relevant, and easy to track. Very easy to track.

Sony doesn't release digital sales either, this isn't a "Microsoft" thing.

JEECE3063d ago

I think "a few" is right, and probably the point. People didn't care this year, and they certainly aren't going to care a year from now. Honestly, TR probably should have gone full Xbox One exclusive, as full exclusives seem more special to fans and there tends to be a perception of higher quality (which is sometimes deserved).

kenwonobi3063d ago

Xbox players can play it now and don't even want it. What makes you think others miss it if Xbox players don't?

nix3063d ago

True. If it had come out on PS4, i would have still ignored it or waited till the price dropped. The first reboot didn't actually impress me considering I'm a fan of TR. I really don't trust reviews. They just hand out 9s n 10s to big games. GTAIV. MGS5. Two perfectly scored games i just couldn't get into. They were so boring.

Anyways i feel sad for TR devs.

fiveby93063d ago

Had ROTR not been X1 exclusive this year I imagine SE would have delayed release of the title. MS wanted an answer to counter Uncharted 4 for the holiday season. In addition MS was marketing the best games lineup in XB history. So delaying the title's release was problematic. I think the exclusive arrangement cost MS money for no reason. MS would have had the same sales even without paying for exclusivity. Has Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection performed better sales wise than ROTR? As for as an owner of both consoles, I will play ROTR on PS4 next fall.

BeefCurtains3062d ago

It makes you wonder...

Are gamers finally waiting until well after the game release to determine if it's actually a playable game? Games have been so poorly released lately, everyone seems to wait longer, and at that point, why not wait until a price drop?

I'm tired of paying $60 for half ass games that require $30 DLC or season pass to get all the available content.

Waiting for the definitive edition seems to be a trend lately.

Thatguy-3103063d ago

A game that releases late on a platform won't perform as good if it were to release early. This game releasing on Ps4 and Pc won't help it. It will sell less than its predecessor. Watch.
Off topic but it would be hilarious if at the end of Uncharted 4 Drake and Elena have a baby girl that follows in her father's footsteps.

Ra30303063d ago

@dboyc310
I agree I don't think it'll sell well on the PC or next year on the PS4. There making PS4 owners wait a year to get it and in turn I think many PS4 owners will wait another year and get it for $20 or less and why not? They want to sell a game that's been on the market for a year as if it's a new title. I know many of my PS4 friends have said they'll wait to buy it used as to not give the game Dev their money and why not? The game Dev got in bed with Microsoft and in a way have punished The Tomb Raiders biggest fan base by making them wait a year to get what will be at the time a out dated game. I'm all for supporting game developers and the gaming community but when developers and publishers punish gamers, I'm all for gamers making a stand and I think PS4 Tomb Raider fans should make a stand and not buy a new copy of this game or pass on it and not get it at all. IMO it would have been better for the developer had they just made the game a Xbox Exclusive and been done with it. And in the end it may well become a Xbox Exclusive anyway and this delayed release was the first step. We'll see.

vegasgamerdawg3063d ago

kayoss3063d ago

You're the ignorant one. A highly touted AAA franchise that made millions on the first game. Then the developer decided to make it time exclusive and released it within the same time frame as other AAA games. to me it looked like they purposely trying to kill the franchise. You Xbox fanBOYS talk lots of crap but you cant even backup your exclusive.

kenshiro1003063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

Last year, it was about sales this, sales that. Now it's 'stop talking about sales!?'.

There's going to be a lot of articles about this game so get used to it.

showtimefolks3063d ago

Real question is how many people will be willing to spend full price on on a year old game? Fall 2016 will have some epic games too so will tomb raider get lost in the shuffle once more?

Square Enix pretty much admitted sales stink when they fired the head of crystal dynamic(he quit or resigned bit we all know what happened)

This guy was a pro Xbox and square Enix ended up paying the price. There was an article that said ms only paid 10 million dollars. So all the people who were saying ms can afford to write a big enough check were wrong

Imagine being in swayed Enix's position. The reboot sold 7 million I think on ps3 and Xbox 360 yet square said that wasn't good enough

So now I see this game seeking 5 million max on Xbox one,Xbox 360,pc and ps4.

Other publishers will not do anymore AAA timed exclusives with Ms this Gen. Unless they get a blank check

Ms and square can spin it anyway they want it but bottom line is the game didn't sell. Also this may have hurt the IP moving forward

Square spent big budget on development and if all they will get back is the money they spent on making it than they may just say future entries will have to wait

If I was running square I would release ps4 version at a budget price of 39.99 to entice people. I know I am not spending full price on this game. I know it's excellent but I am tired of 3rd party exclusives.

Whether that's sony or ms.

Exclusives shouldn't be bought. They should be developed by 1st or 2nd party studios

Certainly wasn't CD who did the PS3/PS4 or the PC version of the reboot back in 2013 (and those were where the majority of the sales came from, on the reboot).. that was Nixxes.. if fact CD hasn't worked on the PS platform or PC for that matter since at least 2007. Yet, they're the only ones you ever read about.

As for this.. well, if I was S/E i'd give 'Tomb Raider' to another developer and have CD (or see if they can) come up with something new, might be hard to do though, since CD has done NOTHING but 'Tomb Raider' since 2006.

The Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy's Take on Lara Croft Deserved More Recognition

The Survivor Trilogy was a drastic reimagining of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, and it provokes changes for the character that are truly fantastic.

gamerant.com
isarai482d ago (Edited 482d ago )

Deserves less IMO, i think the 1st in the new trilogy was a perfect 1st step for the new direction. The next 2 games were half steps at best. Not only that, every character in the series including Lara is just annoying and doesn't make sense in terms of motive, like yes they have a motive, but none of it seems proportional to the lengths they are willing to go through for it. The most annoying thing is every one of the games say "become the Tomb Raider" yet 3 games later and we're still not there? No thanks. Then there's the mess of the 3rd game, massive skill tree that serves almost no purpose as there's literally only like 3-4 short encounters in the whole game, and they took till the 3rd game to finally manage some decent puzzles even remotely close to previous games in the series. Nah, the trilogy infuriated me to no end as a long time fan of the series, i hope we get better going forward cause that crap sucked.

Army_of_Darkness481d ago

The first in the trilogy was my favorite. I thought they were going into the right direction with that one until the second one came out and seemed like a graphical downgrade but the gameplay was okay. As for the Third, Graphics were really nice but it was kinda boring me to death with its non-stop platforming and exploring with not enough action! Well, for me anyway...

DeathTouch481d ago

Graphics on the 3rd one were abysmal. It’s more colorful and has more variety, but everything else was a noticeable downgrade.

The more open world with NPC quests was also handled very poorly, to the point I missed Angel of Darkness.

thesoftware730481d ago

I know it is your opinion, but she did progress as a character in each game, she even got more muscular and seasoned.

That is the thing, people first complained that there was not enough platforming and actual tomb raiding in the first and second games. Shadow remedied that and kept the combat elements.

3-4 encounters? huh? did we play the same game? there was plenty of combat and, the skill tree did matter, like being able to hang enemies from trees, set explosives traps on bodies, being able to counter, and that are just a few of the combat skills. The skill tree also had things like being able to hold your breath underwater longer, crafting upgrades, zipline upgrade, and climbing upgrades that all changed how you can approach situations.

Not knocking your opinion, but we definitely had different experiences. I had 98% completion on the shadow.

SoulWarrior481d ago (Edited 481d ago )

Sorry but i'm with him about the low number of encounters, the game throws loads of weapons and skills you're way with a comparatively low amount of places to actually use them, so they felt under utilised.

-Foxtrot482d ago

Yeah...no

It was awful, for THREE GAMES it was "become the Tomb Raider" where she went back to square one after each game. Not to mention after a huge reaction of killing someone for the first time she then becomes Rambo straight after and goes on a slaughter spree without a single other reaction. Her development was all over the place.

She was whiney, weak and in later game a little arrogant and selfish

Oh and the voice actress compared to the previous ones was not as good

Lara Croft deserved better and while they are decent games as they are, we deserved actual Tomb Raider games, we could have had better survival games if they just stuck with the original Lara Crofts origin about her plane going down. Surviving 2 weeks in the Himalayas...I'd have liked to seen that, who knows what mystical threat she could have faced in the mountains or underground some secret concealed cave.

I thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider had better gameplay than Rise, but it annoyed me the most of the trilogy when I stopped to think about the story.

It's like they deliberately decided to make her unlikeable and did nothing to make the character you're playing as likeable or have even one sign of humility.

SoulWarrior482d ago

2013 I thought was a fine entry, but Rise and especially Shadow were painfully mediocre follow ups imo, I really didn't like how selfish and angry her character was in those two.

Terry_B481d ago

No. Please forget the crap completely.

First one was decent, played through it twice.
Second one was okay, played through it once.
Third one was really bad, tried twice a year apart, still can't get through the first two hours, it is just really bad.

thesoftware730481d ago

Honest question, what did you find bad about it? the opening 2 hrs of Shadow were fantastic imo.

The opening was very similar to the first 2, what did you find really bad?

Not looking for an argument, just an honest question.

3rd one just didn't feel like a tomb raider game. Possibly because the development was passed to another development team. Big mistake! Microsoft killed tomb raider making the first game a timed exclusive. Never recovered after that.

They're all solid games, but nothing quite matched the epicness of the first one for me. I think the 3rd one started off strong but once you got to that Peruvian area it took a massive nose dive for me.

lelo2play861d ago (Edited 861d ago )

You got to be kidding!
The first one was great at the time... but this latest trilogy of Tomb Raider games are also great.

LiViNgLeGaCY861d ago

I think he means the first one in the new trilogy.

CrimsonWing69861d ago

I meant the first of the new trilogy.

Furesis861d ago

yeah i remember liking the first one when it came out, so i tried the second one sometime after release and i just could not get into it, i couldn't finish it. So i might try the 3rd now that i got it for free but ehh. But i do remember enjoying the first one, i wonder if i'd feel the same way if i played it today? Better not taint those memories lol

ANIALATOR136861d ago

I was the same for some reason. Never finished the second one. I got like half way through maybe.

ActualWhiteMan860d ago (Edited 860d ago )

The first one of the latest trilogy is a masterpiece

Fishy Fingers861d ago

I'll take a copy of Shadow... Cheers.

Profchaos861d ago

Double_O_Revan861d ago

RedDevils861d ago
