Howell from GamersFTW writes: People have been clamouring for an improved remake of Final Fantasy VII ever since the old test demo on PS3 was shown, and now that it has finally been announced, and with more details coming out, many are very excited, even if some are apprehensive due to the game coming in multiple parts. Personally, the idea of a split-up Final Fantasy VII brings back memories of changing the discs on the original, which helps with nostalgia. But, as much as the shiny graphics are pretty jaw-dropping, looking back at the original, I’m not sure how well they’ll fit. Here’s a look back on parts of Final Fantasy VII that won’t work in HD seriousness.
The tiny green slasher villain returns in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and is as frightening as ever.
The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

I really hope that they don't try to remove the silliness from the game. I think if they embrace it, then it can still match the realism in the graphics, and could make it a special experience with really funny moments. It'll be such a shame if they take things out in order to fit with a more gritty vision.
There's the part when you're on the boat, hiding as Shinra guards, and you talk to one of the guards and he says "It's me, Red XIII" and he then turns around, and walks stiffly and you can see his tail.
Wonder how they'll pull that scene off.
Luckily, the majority of the game is pretty serious, but are they really going to omit the goofiness? It's hard to picture the characters shown in the new remake video doing the stuff they did in the original. Barret's attitude was hilarious at times, is he still going to be that way, or super serious?
I had no idea they'd released this already!!
Get the Mansion Key from the safe upstairs in the Shinra Mansion. The combination is RIGHT TO 36, LEFT TO 10, RIGHT TO 59, RIGHT TO 97. Enter the locked celler halfway to Sephiroth's Library in the basement. Enter the cellar using the gold key from the safe. Touch the foot of the purple coffin. The lid will fly off and Vincent will talk to you. Choose the bottom reply when he asks you a question. When the coffin closes, touch the coffin again. Choose the second (bottom) reply when Vincent poses another question, and you can name him. Leave the cavern and he'll join you.
Getting Vincent was so incredible.
One of the endearing aspects of FF7 was it's ability to laugh at itself. I am confident there will be light hearted moments just for the simple fact that it's a tool to relieve tension in the plot. Not to mention silly moments being part of the games DNA; Wu Tai quest anyone?
I am confident the story telling will be tight because unlike more recent games by Square, this story is already set. The universe it established and the character is in the world. They just need to capture that and expand it.
I'm mostly concerned about the battle system because these three games together probably amounts to 150-300 hours of game time. It has to be smooth, deep, rich, yet friendly to casual gamers. Difficulty settings will probably be in the game.
