Over the past eight years, Scandinavian indie developers Frictional Games have exerted a powerful influence on horror gaming, first with slow-burning phenomenon Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and now with the mind-bending and philosophical SOMA.
Co-founder Thomas Grip spoke to Mark Butler about what drives him, his mixed feelings on the legacy of Amnesia, and why SOMA might prove to be the end of an era for Frictional in gameplay terms.

Spooky season is here again at last and time of the horror game has arrived alongside it. This year has seen the return of some the genre's greatest entires, but both tended to focus more on thrills than they did chills.
