More interesting news! I can't wait to play this game!

LordMaim3082d ago

Google Translate really did a number on the original, so I'm glad that Dualshockers parsed the important points for us.

I'm really looking forward to the remake, even if it is presented in a more modern format than the original ATB system. Hopefully they take the time to flesh out the plot of the game, like they did with Crisis Core.

Bahamut3082d ago

Initially I was upset about the combat, but I've come to terms with it. But what I'm more worried about is this "episodic" approach... How will this work? Is the game going to be a true-rpg, allowing us to level up our characters traditionally... and if so, does the experience accrued carry over to the next installment? As long as they include all of this, and a proper world map and exploration, and they don't omit the majority of what made the game special, I guess I still look forward to it, but my hype has dropped considerably.

But if it's some linear garbage that allows the player to start on any episode they want, without having to worry about what their stats are, then I will storm the main Square-Enix headquarters myself... But I won't take the main gate, that would be foolish. I will instead ascend a countless, unimaginable amount of stairs to finally reach my destination. And then I will go from floor to floor, finding keycards to keep advancing to the top until I find the son of a #@$!& who crushed my hopes and dreams and shove a 9-foot long katana through his back.

Tapewurm3082d ago

About to go play the PS4 HD edition now just to run those stairs....well said Bahamut 8)

Bahamut3082d ago (Edited 3082d ago )

@Tapewurm

Since Square-Enix added 3X speed to the game, it doesn't take too long anymore...

I still don't know how I feel about that, I mean, it's great at times, but I'm only 15 hours in and I have all the limit breaks for most of my group, all characters, I mastered 5 ALL materias... Feel like I'm getting too much accomplished too quickly lol.

One thing for certain is the "battle booster" should NOT have been added at all... Unless it does something like ask you if you want to play sissy mode when you start the game, turning off all trophies. That, or once you beat the game, you unlock "battle booster". But with the click of my right joystick, I'm close to unstoppable. Kills the entire feeling of progression...

"Oh no! I'm about to die, I better use a megalix... or wait... ::right joystick click::"

skratchy3082d ago

I am hoping the whole reason it's episodic is simply because the game is so huge. It was originally three discs, after all.

Tapewurm3081d ago

I agree Bahamut....but, it sure looks pretty... I had initially hoped that they would just take the original CG Models from the Original game and just give them more polygons etc.....The Advent Children Style graphics will look great....but, for some reason I still wish they would use a more Anime-esque look for the characters... akin to the original CG models... Just my opinion though...I just remember thinking when I played the original when Cloud rolled down the stairs on that bike..."Man I wish the whole game looked like that!" hehehe good times...

O god it was bad enough noruma is on ffvii remake, don't have the team distracted too!!

VerdicLinwe3082d ago

But... Nomura was one of the original team members. Why shouldn't he be?

Bahamut3082d ago

He did costume and battle design. That's it. That's all he did with the original.

Convas3082d ago

Translation: Enjoy buying the complete version of this remake for your children in 2025!

The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.

Hofstaderman18d ago

Two words, one accessory....Safety Bit

MeteorPanda18d ago

Needing an accessory to keep a.i from dying and only one of them isnt great.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Expected to Release Around 2027, Says Square Enix

It's fairly common knowledge that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth enjoyed a relatively smooth development cycle, owing to the fact that Final Fantasy 7 Remake's team was largely kept intact, and the first game had obviously laid the foundations in terms of visuals and gameplay systems. It took Square Enix around three years to craft Rebirth, and it expects the same kind of timeline when it comes to the third (and final) title in the trilogy.

lucian22941d ago

Soooo long. Sigh lmao gonna be a long long wait.

Cacabunga41d ago

Yes but better they take their time with such game. A good argument to get PS5 Pro

Sonic188140d ago

The PS6 might be out by then

Cacabunga40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

In 2,5 years? No way .. Pro will be around for at least 2 years..

RaidenBlack40d ago

Might be an unpopular opinion here, but I wish the remake was a 2-parter not a 3-parter.
Die-hard fans will disagree and I get it but ... I think they're stretching the project abit too much imho.

lucian22940d ago

considering how much story is in the original, i think it's fine. Everything is very well elaborated and the connection to those characters are much greater thanks to it. Like, i like seeing tifa and aerith as best friends for example. the fact the first 2 games in this trilogy basically only covered the first disc of the original is kinda crazy tho lol

Becuzisaid40d ago

@lucian That first disc was a whopper though. I don't remember the second being as long, and the third is basically just the final dungeon.

I'm glad they did 3 games. The first 2 have been absolutely phenomenal. Looking forward to the Weapons (the real ones) waking up and attacking, the underwater exploration (they set that up pretty good with the lore of Under Junon), and finally Cloud's big reveal. It'll be real interesting to see how they handle the repercussions of Cloud's behavior from Rebirth and what he's going to do in Part 3. Like the party should realistically just abandon him for being such an a-hole, and after what he did to a Tifa. They really played up the whole Sephiroth mind control thing in Rebirth. They really need to nail the emotional payoff to that. Hope it's not just swept under the rug by the party and just move on post Lifestream.

-Foxtrot40d ago

Also 3 games and then a Crisis core remaster

Then god knows what else

It’s overkill

I’d under the trilogy if they lived up to their excuse about it being about expanding the lore. Like they said the first game would heavily expand the lore of Midgar through side missions but the side missions didn’t do that at all, they were all pretty generic. Felt like a bad excuse to justify 3 games.

-Foxtrot40d ago

Least we have a potential date

Although now I’m just thinking

“Damn 3-4 years to see if we’ll ever get a FFVIII remake next”

VersusDMC40d ago

Apparently there is a IX remake getting made. You need that to come out and be successful before a VIII remake is even possibly green lit.

But if you're thinking the FF7REMAKE team is making a FFVIII remake after part 3...that is not happening. They are definitely making a new FF after.

-Foxtrot40d ago

Well apparently IX is coming first because the VIII team are working on the VII remakes

So if they get finished then hopefully they will work on VIII next

You say it won’t but I’m hoping they will…just something less ambitious

TheEroica40d ago

Yikes.... Sales are already lower than expected for the sequel. Third game is gonna be lower....

GoodGuy0941d ago (Edited 41d ago )

I really think it should've been just one game or two at most, kept to the simple turn based combat, and no crazy changes to the story. But it's whatever. I liked rebirth but man was it bloated with so much unnecessary and repetitive stuff. Square is really betting their money on the remakes. I do admit the remakes have been the only mainline ff games Ive actually quite liked since probably 10 lol.

Lexreborn240d ago

I don’t feel like it’s bloated, it’s more or less all the same content that was in the original for mini games but they expanded everyone’s narrative better.

I am glad they expanded even on the characters that came in later games that wasn’t in the original. It’s a weird position we keep putting devs in when one moment we say give us a complete game with tons of content. They deliver said content and then we treat it like it’s overwhelming or to much.

Crazy part is you could just focus on the story and do none of the “bloat”. Gamers really seem to never be happy when you look online forums

rambot8940d ago

Wouldn’t make sense financially. 1 game would involve a mammoth amount of development time and a gamble to say the least. Making one part of the game and seeing if it makes $$$ gives reason to justify making a part 2 and 3 and make more money too.

OtterX41d ago

That's pretty crazy if you think about the 2005 PS3 tech demo that started this all! I'm not sure if they ever intended to remake the game at that time, but the fan outcry for it was so incredible that it eventually became a reality! Now imagine all of the fans who have died waiting for this. :\

GamerRN40d ago

That's how you turn an 80$ game into a $240 game

jambola40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Which game is 240?
You must've bought from a bad scalper because I got both games for normal price each

GamerRN40d ago

How much did each part cost?

Lionsguard41d ago

I mean not too surprised, they already have most of all the assets already made. I just hope it's UE5 and they crank it to 11 and finish strong. I also hope they go back and upgrade Remake and Rebirth to UE5 too. BUY THE DAMN GAME PEOPLE!!

franwex41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

For all the complaints about GAAS and same thing getting released every year. It’s almost dumb that gamers here don’t support a game like Rebirth.

MrNinosan40d ago

Rebirth is selling great and is supported. Don't worry.

MrNinosan40d ago

It won't be UE5.
If that wad the case, we wouldn't play it in 3 years.

Becuzisaid40d ago

And it would likely play like trash compared to the first 2, at least on PS5.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5245d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5244d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212144d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

MrNinosan44d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5244d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5244d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos45d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani44d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum45d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman45d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim44d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

I disagree Batman
