Michibiku's Jenni Lada writes, "Everyone is abuzz about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and rightfully so. New footage was released at the PlayStation Experience and Square Enix spoke out about what people could expect from the PlayStation 4 version of one of the most iconic JRPGs in history. But in all this talk about the game, a rather important figure has been forgotten: Genesis Rhapsodos."
The tiny green slasher villain returns in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and is as frightening as ever.
The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

He didn't die in Crisis Core so he could return. He was just badly injured by Zack. I remember he also appeared in Dirge of Cerberus in a secret ending.
How could we ever forget about GACKT....
What about the 3 villains from advent children?
Unfortunately, I'm a purist when it comes to remakes and feel any sort of added content should expand on already existing elements from the original source material--which leaves Genesis out in the cold. Since this is a multi-part remake, it's also easy to speculate there will be entire chunk of game dedicated to him.
Instead, rather than shoe-horning him into the original main plot, I'd rather see the expand upon the world itself and the characters from the original game. If you really want to give a nod to the spin off games, why not make an Easter egg area below Midgar featuring the character in stasis with a unique and powerful materia there as a reward for finding it?
Again, I'm kinda a purist. =P
