Capcom Made Street Fighter V's Fighter Less Sexy Not to Offend

In earlier versions of the beta of Street Fighter V, Rainbow Mika used to slap her butt during one of her special attacks. In the latest versions, that action was covered by rather awkward camera work, while certain angles were also changed in order to position Cammy's crotch less "in your face."

"We have made no change by external influences," Ono

I don't believe you, not one bit. The changes was clearly made because Social Justice Warrior.

Once again, completely unnecessary self-censorship. Such a shame.

I feel removing fun innocent little moves like Mika's butt-slapp basically removes/hides part of her personality.

There was absolutely NOTHING offensive about ANY of the mentioned stuff that has now been changed. It's just completely ridiculous.

Even Japan is starting to fear the SJW/Feminist crowd.

The future doesn't look too bright if things keep going like this.

bobtheimpaler3076d ago

Japan have a very specific reason for depicting male and female characters alike the way they do. They're meant to be exagerated. So this whole PC thing is already damaging culture and art.

divinealpha3076d ago

Soon we will get games were all the female Characters will be wearing jumpsuits

UserNameIsNotTaken3076d ago

Cam you blame them? These F*cks are annoying af.

reallyNow3075d ago

the only way to beat them is to ignore their existence entirely.

"These changes have arisen internally. We decided to remove it because we want as many people to play, and we do not want the game something that might make someone uncomfortable."

Translation:

"We've succumbed to pressure from certain aspects of western culture to tone down the sexual themes in our game so as to not annoy some female gamers and the men who fight their cause. We want more sales and believe if we kept the content in, many female gamers would be so offended they would boycott the game. Therefore it's better off without."

Hang about, so what if people are uncomfortable with other aspects of the game such as the gratuitous bouncing boobs and exposed flesh or overly manly looking male characters? Zangief should wear trousers and a shirt. Some might find his look uncomfortable and what about his Piledriver move, I see no one changing that.

Hypocrisy at its finest and lame excuses. Integrity zero respect tarnished.

A sad day.

It's funny though, because Japan has historically thrown it's own traditions out the window to adopt more Western culture.

Most of Japanese culture is in some way influenced by the West.

I wish they had just grown a bigger pair of balls and been a little bit more patriotic.

So slapping her own butt is where you draw the line... But not her outfit that barley covers her jiggling lady bits.

lol okay.

bobtheimpaler3076d ago

So pointless.

The whole premise of Street Fighter and it's cast of colourful, larger than life cartoony characters is ridiculous to begin with. I don't understand how a strong and confident character playfully slapping her bum before laying the smack down is harmful towards women.

I'm pretty progressive, but this whole PC thing is out of control.

Want to shoot some ruskies or arabs. Sure. Go nuts.

Wait a minute. There's swearing and sexy women enjoying themselves while kicking ass? Now your crossing the line, buddy!

Remember the South Park movie? Well holy crap. Kyle's mum won.

chrisx3076d ago

I'm loosing total hope and faith in humanity

MegaRay3076d ago

I was offended by the removal of that move :(

Then the goal is clear. We must all obtain vaginas.

reallyNow3075d ago

Thats what Jenner's plan was all along. Except he still has his penis. But it does appear that they crowned him king/queen of their cause, at least for a while.

Street Fighter 5: Analysing a Tarnished Legacy

Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.

Terry_B133d ago

Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.

SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.

SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.

kevco33132d ago

I've had every Street Fighter on launch since SFII on the SNES. SFV is definitely my least played of them all.

SF6 is very good. You should give it a second look.

Terry_B131d ago

Maybe in 2-3 years when there is a version that has characters I care for.

So far there is not one of the new characters I like..and my favourite 4 are not a part of it either. (Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega) + the whole hip hop style and the crappy music turned me totally off.

Looking forward a lot to Tekken 8.

Sano24131d ago

SF4 vanilla was loved by most and and not considered a misstep. It wasn't until they went revision crazy that people started turning on Capcom.

Terry_B131d ago

Don't remember the criticques it got for the big hands and feet, the sometimes weird looking faces, the lame boss (Seth) and that so many characters were shotos and yup..the many new versions. Just every SF got its haters no matter how good it was.

Nerdmaster131d ago

It was criticized for the first trailers having an interesting art style with those ink splashes, but the real game had none of that and people felt cheated. And Capcom decided to add some of those effects in the game later because of the backlash. But I don't remember any other big complaints about it.

EvertonFC131d ago

I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.

CrimsonWing69131d ago

I dunno, I like Street Fighter 5 quite a bit. 🤷‍♂️

Shiro173131d ago

Sf6 is the best sf since sf4ae lol
