I'm late to Mad Max, but I like the balloons

Eurogamer:

"When you play Mad Max, you're not really playing a single video game so much as you're playing a sort of cross-section: a geological sample of where many big-budget video games are at today. You're seeing the things big-budget developers like and you're seeing the things they think we like. Mad Max may seem scrappy, with all that rust and bent metal and all those insane, babbling NPCs, but this is game design as a sort of science - or game flow design as a science, at least. A huge map, constantly prodding you in a direction and then teasing you away again one gimmick at a time, with everything you find adding to a total somewhere, all of it taking you closer to completion."

this game made me feel like a part of this wasteland world like very few games can, very underrated game.

traumadisaster3084d ago

I really connected with this game. Btw 4kpc visuals are outstanding. I also dig the movies so I'm partial.

The game had only a few faults, all of which can and I hope will be addressed when/if a sequel arrives.

It had too small a roster of car bodies, defusing mines is boring as hell, the vehicle controls could have been better, cars haven't got a handbrake which would have been very, very useful and the characters could have been developed more as well as the story. But the biggest gripe I have with it is that it has no New Game +.

Also, the Interceptor isn't that useful and it should have been, considering how iconic it is. That was a missed opportunity.

6 Games That Genuinely Deserve A Current-Gen Upgrade

Games such as Mad Max, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Batman: Arkham Knight desperately deserve a modern-day revisit.

thorstein30d ago

Mad Max is underrated. Such a fun game.

Cacabunga30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

RDR2 still looks astounding on PS4 Pro. i cannot imagine how it could look with a next gen upgrade.

JonTheGod29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Probably not very different.

No idea why this article is highlighting recent beautiful graphically-advanced games and saying they need current gen makeovers. They already look better than most new releases; just compare Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad!

exputers29d ago

I see what you did there.

It's obviously never gonna happen since Sony killed the game and studio, but Driveclub. Even in its current state, 10 years after release, it still puts many competitors to shame ...

I'm not into racing games but yeah I even looked at gameplay of that sometimes

redrum062d ago

It's a shame they cancelled the game. Definitely the best racing game I've ever played on Playstation. Just got GT7, but it feels so slow and less arcade-y, which is to be expected of a sim racer of course, that I just enjoy it less.
Driveclub also graphically looked insanely good for its time. I wonder what a Driveclub 2 would look like for the PS5.

Mad max ikr! Far cry primal, it amuses me how ubisoft just left ac unity hanging, sadly most of the good staff left from rocksteady while being forced to make that abomination smh

I had a blast with a Bugs Bunny game on PS1 as a kid. It is probably trash now but at the time, it was awesome.

"50 Cent: Blood in the sand"

Ps3 scored 6/10 all round loads of review sites but was so much fun while not a technical masterpiece in any way has a worthwhile engaging story and script and of course an unbeatable soundtrack.

Honorable mention to Drive Clubs Ferrari Fxx-K. Should be there over Horizon.

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia489d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

dumahim489d ago

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno488d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
