Crash Bandicoot E3 2016 *nudge nudge*

Yeah, keep believing.

I suppose this too was wink wink nudge nudge? http://i.imgur.com/dVEXCks.... (this was 2 years ago btw.)

Ezz_Snake3097d ago (Edited 3097d ago )

At Least he could just say we bought back the crash IP right from activation.

Crash returns Home with no game announcement, with that T-shirt he was wearing

Oh man i cant imagine the happiness when i saw him entering the stage
and the sadness when he finish speaking without crash anouncement

Quatron3097d ago

I'm tellin ya Crash's 20th anniversary is next year.

breakpad3096d ago (Edited 3096d ago )

probably the IP has been bought back , there are ridiculously multiple and continuing references/ cameos from various official Sony branches (PS4 launch trailer, PS Access 20 anniversary ad, PS brazil twitter..now layden himself)..the thing is if the game will be Crash 4 or a remake of old titles ..and if the game would manage to reach the excellent levels of quality in gameplay, humor, and atmosphere of the first 4 games if it is a new installment ..its a difficult task and probably Sony is still cooking it to ensure sales and critic success

S2Killinit3096d ago

Its coming. Its a matter of time.

ThyMasterDebater3096d ago

I don't think it's a deep mystery really. He might just see it as simple as a symbol of PlayStation. It was almost a mascot figure in terms of the PS1 era. Either that or he just likes crash.

XanderZane3096d ago

Well we know it wasn't because they were going to announce it at the PSX, that's for sure. I think fans were hyped for it at the PSX though.

Probably going to toss the ps2 games on the ps4 store for download.

DarkOcelet3097d ago

Layden just trolled alot of people today.

Sciurus_vulgaris3097d ago

People seem to always forget that Sony doesn't own the Crash IP .

NukaCola3097d ago

True, but Sony and Activision have rebuilt their relationship so it's possible.

Sciurus_vulgaris3097d ago

@NukaCola A new crash game would likely be multiplatform unless Sony were to pay for exclusivity. I find Sony buying the Crash IP or paying for exclusivity unlikely since platformers don't generate revenue like they used to.

iceman063096d ago

With that same reasoning that you used to explain to NukaCola, that platformers don't generate revenue, you could also say that the IP wouldn't be worth as much and Sony could probably persuade Activision to let it go a bit more cheaply. Hell, it's not like it's a cash cow for Activision just sitting their doing nothing.

blackblades3097d ago

He didn't troll anyone , it's just a shirt him wearing it doesn't mean the game is going to be announced or whatever. He probably just like the shirt and a big fan of it. People always jumping into conclusions. Like people hyped psx and now some are disappointed.

DarkOcelet3096d ago

Just a shirt?

JUST A SHIRT?!

Its a Crash Bandicoot Shirt!

Fin_The_Human3096d ago

Well it is a tease.

Imagine your GF wearing a T-shirt for you that says ready to fudge but she has her period.

jb2273096d ago

Sony also trolled everyone last year w/ the FF7 port, only to reveal a proper remake at the following E3...Likely the same thing will happen here, or they will announce Crash ps2 coming to ps4 during E3 only to announce a proper new installment at next year's PSX...I bet there is a new Crash game come 2017.

And I'm over here just hoping that CD will give us a new Gex game. I honestly think that little lizard is primed for a comeback...considering he was all about making TV & movie references, and we are now in the midst of what everyone is calling the golden age of television, I could see him making Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead & The Wire references in a new game...zombie apocalypse themed levels, Empire themed levels, American Idol type reality competition levels. I think it'd be the perfect time for a new installment, and they certainly wouldn't have to reach very far for all kinds of inspiration & ideas.

Germany73097d ago

That's not funny anymore, we are waiting for years to Crash Bandicoot coming back to Sony.

At least stop trolling if you can't bring him back. -.-

Kalebninja3097d ago (Edited 3097d ago )

He wouldn't have worn it if he was actually going to announce it. That's like expecting Reggie to announce metroid when he wore that pin to the game awards, you'll be disappointed when he just announces cranky Kong.

Psychonaut8575d ago

If you actually read the article it’s really insightful as to the state of the industry. You might not like the way certain things are going, but it’s a good look as to why.

Tacoboto75d ago

"For single-player games it’s not the same exigency [as Live Service]. But if you’re spending $250 million, you want to be able to sell it to as many people as possible, even if it’s just 10% more."

The most I ever see is a shorter window from PS to PC. I never see Sony releasing on Xbox or Nintendo, even for their GaaS titles.

Abnor_Mal75d ago

As it is right now Sony might feel that the cost of making games is not yet so high that they have to expand beyond the platform they have already started expanding on meaning pc.

When the cost becomes beyond $300 million I’m sure more platforms will start to receive something.

rlow175d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Business is business at the end of the day. In the short term I agree with you. The long term???? If you go back just 4-5 years ago, some on here swore that Sony would never go pc or day one. Yet we now have Sony games on the PC and day one courtesy of Helldivers 2.

My point is never say never, because the way everything has been shifting. I don’t think anyone really knows where it’s going to end up.

Ironmike75d ago

I agree siny start releasing on pc a lot earlier the big exclusives are fortune to make

Former PlayStation boss gives the games industry a stern talking to about acquisitions

The former PlayStation CEO has now explained why he thinks games conglomerates getting bigger and bigger, as a result of buying smaller studios, is bad for the industry.

DaCajun213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

He currently works for Tencent, the worst offenders of what he's preaching against. That is some serious hypocrisy, Not to mention they are just lackeys for the Chinese government. Hard for me to trust him anymore, in my opinion.

"Nobody cares"

Yeah... says the guy who congratulates himself and pats himself on the back for Insomniac´s acquisition, calling it his "biggest achievement" ahead of Playstation.

Though competent, Layden is also narcissist, arrogant and a hypocrite, since his previous actions don´t reflect what he´s preaching now.

BrainSyphoned213d ago

Stop talking about yourself. Pot, kettle, rusted peice of hypocritical trash.

Lightning77213d ago

How so? He was instrumental to PS4 and part of PS5? He's the last good CEO. I have no clue what you're talking about. He had a ton to offer to PS and the industry.

Elda213d ago

Pot calling the kettle black? One should really think before one speaks.

RNTody213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

Delusional, blind fanboys like yourself will always use the false equivalence of trying to compare acquiring studios to acquiring publishers. But I'll exercise my own delusion in trying to get you to understand the following basic concept:

Sony acquires Insomniac and invests in them, Insomniac grows into one of the best developers in the industry right now with cutting edge tech, Sony's biggest IP in Spider-Man and more developers, more jobs, more games. Net win. Insomniac has a long history of developing PlayStation games and their partnerships with EA (Fuse) and Microsoft (Sunset Overdrive) were not remotely as successful as their PlayStation games.

Microsoft acquires Bethesda, an entire publisher, and so far all there is to show for it is less games on PlayStation. Microsoft then acquires Activision. Net result is major franchises leaving PlayStation and I'm willing to bet that not one single franchise will grow or studio will evolve, and instead these games will follow most of Microsoft's other IPs and diminish in quality and audience.

Let's see how it goes then. But the least you can do is activate some of your brain cells.

Also, if you read the quote he says he's concerned about smaller studios being absorbed into larger enterprises making a bigger game, thus losing the smaller studio. Insomniac has become bigger than ever, they didn't disappear into some subsect of another major Sony developer. His concern is about creativity lost.

Godmars290213d ago

Insomniac's rep became stronger under Playstation, versus what typically happens after MS buys someone.

MrDead213d ago

Leave him be guys, he told me Bethesda releasing a broken game and MS paying for selective positive reviews to make the game sound competent was somehow "poetic justice" to people like me expecting a working and fun game.

"narcissist, arrogant and a hypocrite"... Obsure, is this a cry for help?

KwietStorm_BLM213d ago

Insomniac has basically been a PlayStation studio for the entirety of their existence. Why would you use that as an example. The nonsense you say on literally every post has to be on purpose. There's no way all that irony is accidental.

A lot of people do care actually. They don't want to see the industry they love be destroyed by corporate greed

monkey602212d ago

I think I'm starting to go beyond caring. Watching Playstation and Xbox now are like watching the snake eat its own tail.
I cant help but feel like the old blood gamers like us are history and being left behind.

I think my days of buying dozens of games a year are over now. Let the big guys Shovel their games as a service shit and I'll enjoy the couple of good games released by studios that still have a passion.

FinalFantasyFanatic212d ago

@monkey602,

It's okay, there's still indies and some smaller games that are pretty damn good, there's that if anything.

Rockstar213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

Xbox fanboys don't care,

Fixed it for ya Sonyslave3

neutralgamer1992213d ago

Obscure

You have to know the history behind it. Sony tried for decade plus trying to acquire them and always being told no. Insomniac left Sony to go try EA and MS before coming back

That’s one studio at 256 million

MS bought many studios and no one complained because many of those studios could use better support and resources. As gamers MS got the heat for buying publishers when Phil himself said he was against keeping games away from others so please don’t compare Shawn buying insomniac who had a long relationship with Sony to MS buying activision and zenimax. Maybe you are forgetting that before buying zenimax MS bought 10 plus studios and didn’t get much backlash

Obscure_Observer213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

@neutralgamer1992

"You have to know the history behind it. Sony tried for decade plus trying to acquire them and always being told no. Insomniac left Sony to go try EA and MS before coming back"

Thank you for the recap, but I´m very familiar with Insomniac´s history with Sony.

I don´t think you got my point at all.

In no moment in the original story, Layden talks about big publishers acquiring big publishers.

He is now positing himself against big publishers acquisitions of smaller/independent studios, when it´s a well known fact that a few years ago he was congratulating and self-promoting himself, for doing the exact same thing.

It was fine and dandy since he were the one doing, right? Dude´s a hypocrite! Period!

Now, correct me if I wrong.

Didn´t Sony acquired TEN new freaking studios in the last 3 years or so?

Is Layden posting himself against Sony?

Yung-T213d ago
