Was excited for a moment but yoshida shattered some of the dream with his Twitter replies.

Gjallarhorn [RSTL] ‏@GjallarhornRL
@yosp hey, "I got Twisted Metal Black for free with twisted metal, will that digital version cross to ps4?"

Shuhei Yoshida ‏@yosp
@GjallarhornRL "no, sorry"

Shawn M. Williams ‏@stupidhass
@yosp "will we get a discount if we own the classics version of any of those games?"

Shuhei Yoshida ‏@yosp
@stupidhass "no, sorry about it"

Wow, so it look like it is just digital support only with no option to migrate the PS3's PS2 classic digital titles over and no discount. Bummer :/ , but still looking forward for the announcement.

Genuine-User3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

"Wow, so it look like it is just digital support only"

Why are you shocked? These are semi-remasters with trophy support.

Thank you for writing the comment though, it will no doubt start a fruitful conversation :|

On topic: The Mark of Kri is an underrated gem.

Genuine-User3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

These games are not upscaled from their original resolution. What we have here are games with HD resolution, double the framerate, superior AA and trophy support.

For they are by the very defintion a remaster.

Rookie_Monster3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

Why are you shocked? These are semi-remasters with trophy support."

Funny, I have been playing PS2 disc based games on my PC for awhileb now and the emulator up scale the resolution to 1080p as well without having to pay a dime...so are you telling me Sony can't make their emulator on PS4 the same and allow trophies download for those PS2 titles?

Also, it is not full true 1080p and are not remasters as it much or less up scaling according to the digital foundry articles with the emulator on PS4. Emulator for N64, Dreamcast and etc also were done this way as it it just using original assets of the game and let the emulator upscale and boost texture resolution.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
"Upscaling? Probably not what you wanted to hear bearing in mind that older titles haven't aged well visually, and a disappointing result bearing in mind that our initial information said that Sony would be emulating these titles in high definition. Well, there's both good and bad news here. All 2D artwork in every title gets the upscaling treatment - there's nothing that can be done about that, and it can look pretty ropey. However, the 3D elements are substantially improved and do get a resolution increase."

"PlayStation 2 titles ran at a range of pixel counts, but 512x448 and 640x448 were commonplace (God of War 2 even let you choose between the two). It's still early days in our analysis, but first impressions suggest that the emulator resolves a native resolution of 1292x896. Two black lines are added top and bottom to the image, before receiving a final upscale up to full 1080p."

Genuine-User3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Rookie

Here's the thing, Sony is a business; they will capitalize on this oppurtunity.

You want a free service? Continue playing your old games on their respective systems or play on a PC "without having to pay a dime".

You want a legitimate product with trophy support? You gotta pay.

Rookie_Monster3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Genuine-user, calm down, you sounded upset.

I am just giving people information and know more about the PS4 emulation before throwing down $15 to buy those PS2 titles. No need to get upset.

Also you said "Here's the thing, Sony is a business; they will capitalize on this oppurtunity."

Funny, MS is a business too and I not only get to play my disc versions of all the Gears X360 without a fee, but they gave out 4 free digital titles for Gears Ultimate. Why can't Sony at least allow disc based support when it can be easily done?

"You want a legitimate product with trophy support? You gotta pay."

I already paid for some of those PS2 disc titles like Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy and that is as legit as it gets. Also the thing about trophies, when Trophies was first announced for PS3, as I recalled, those older PS3 titles that were patched with trophies didn't cost a cent. Just some fact.

But hey, everyone have their meaning of value.

TitanUp3067d ago

You sound like a pirate. Disgusting

freshslicepizza3067d ago

$15 for games that are over 10 years old?

Genuine-User3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Rookie

Do you honestly believe that I'm furious and upset? lol

Continue your tirade against Sony.

"Funny, MS is a business too"

Really? Who would've thought. I saw this coming from a mile away.

"I already paid for those PS2 disc titles and that is as legit as it gets."

No one is forcing you to buy them on PS4. Why don't you continue playing them for free on your PC?

Older 'PS3' tiles got patched. PS4 is apparently using some sort of an algorithm for PS2 trophy support.

someOnecalled3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

I find it funny how gamers like me brought ps2 games on psn last gen and now can not even get access to the game unless paying again. And we see the sony faithfuls defending to the fullest. They could do no wrong.

And the they are a business card comes to play but it don't count for every other company its funny how that works. I doubt people really care if it had trophy support the just wanted the games they brought off of psn to be transferred like most services. If I brought a ps1 game on ps3 It damn sure gonna be playable on Vita. Watch the disagrees and excuses by the fanboys even tho they're loyal and gets nothing in return. They are going to continue capitalizing off this dumb fanbase.

Yahdaree3067d ago

No one should be surprised these are not the same games they have trophies, which is so cool!

Dabigsiebowski3067d ago

These are not remasters at all.

Aenea3067d ago

For it to be a remaster, semi or not, they need to have changed the source code, they did NOT do that. It's just an emulated game with some additional data for trophies...

Am sure this is the same stuff they did with PS1 on the PSP, just an emulation wrapper around the original game. Once the PSP was jailbroken one could convert any PS1 disc to a PSP compatible game...

Honestly, right now I'm kinda hoping someone is going to be able to hack this. I don't need the PS4 jailbroken, but a way to get the classics on there would be great. Sure, they won't have trophy support that way...

comebackkid98913067d ago

That's like saying a game is remastered cause it's running on pcsx2...

nix3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

i don't understand the psyche of some gamers. every time a classic retro game comes on the new media from their existing hardware people have been buying. if you look at Pacman - from their own handheld, to consoles to PC to phones. everywhere it moved people have bought it without complaining.

this PS2 to PS4 is same. it's a different architecture. it's not even from the last gen. this is from 2 gen before with a trophy support. though 10/12 dollars would have been just right.

plus this is like moving from VHS gen to Bluray gen with 7.1 surround system. asking for PS2 games to be free is like asking Sony for Bluray version of Ghost Busters because you used to watch the movie on Sony VHS player.

DarXyde3067d ago

Let's wait, like, 12 more hours.

We'll have the answers we seek then. The argument over speculation is honestly pretty ludicrous.

S2Killinit3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

The usual suspects are here. Only two of them are missing. Anything that can be viewed negatively on Playstation and they come rushing to explain how it sucks and why Sony is to blame. Thanks guys, another article derailed, good job.

On Topic: i really want to play San Andreas as it was one of my most loved games of all time.

ziggurcat3067d ago

@rookie:

"I am just giving people information..."

no, you are not doing that. what you *are* doing is taking a positive article(s) about PS2 titles launching on PS4, and literally doing everything you can to derail the intent of the article, as well as the discussion, by spreading FUD.

Phill-Spencer3067d ago

The only reason why ms is offeting this service for free is the fact that they are already in a weak position.

ShadowKnight3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Genuine If I were you I wouldn't worry about it since the console war is already over. All Xbox fanboys are still in denial. I'm in denial because of what Nintendo is doing. I would just ignore all the haters and just move on.

@Ziggurcat that's exactly what he's doing lol. Thank goodness that N4g install base is not that big lol.

ShadowKnight3067d ago

Actually PlayStation has been crushing Microsoft in the current iteration of the console wars; with Microsoft trying to get their old catalog onto the Xbox-1, PlayStation had to follow suit or suddenly lose a great deal of competitive ground.

The mechanics haven't been laid out yet; there is still hope they make an intelligent (and potentially Microsoft business killing) decision to redeem existing discs for maybe keycodes to get access to soft copies.

indyman77773067d ago

I see most of those games at the disc replays for WAY less ..... Not good Sony.

Revolver_X_3067d ago

And Rookie's alternative is pirating...lol. Think of a better solution next time.

Revolver_X_3067d ago

And Rookie's alternative solution is pirating on his PC with emulation. All you need to know about him.

Revolver_X_3067d ago

And Rookie's alternative solution is pirating on a PC. That's all you need to know about him to understand what he is.

Lordani663067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Rookie_Monster

Good job! You are doing something that is illegal! Not only the PS2 emulation is illegal if you don't have your own original bios file (so that makes you have to have a PS2 of your own), you probably download illegal isos from the internet, as you said you pay nothing for that emulation. Congratulations, thief!

But that's what PC platform is known for lol. And then you cry that you are getting tons of bad ports of console games. You get what you deserve in that matter. And yes, I'm a butthurt PC and console gamer, butthurt because freaking pirates destroyed this first platform.

Brotard3067d ago

Rogue galaxy and dark cloud tomorrow. Yeah I'm satisfied with that .

NatureOfLogic_3067d ago

Basically remasters with trophy support. The price makes sense. Although I was expecting $10 max.

Sevir3067d ago

Because they aren't just ports... These take complete advantage of the PS4 feature sets... Trophies, Shareplay, PS4-vita remote play, 1080p support, broadcasting and video editing...

They desired to make these game and add modern nuances, so while it's emulation, they is a hefty amount of reworking in the PS2 emulation that gives these games even more features than they had being classic PS2 games...

So while it's a bit disappointing that it isn't just pure software emulation, there are other benefits for the hardware enabled upgrades the PS4 provides and a better insensitive to charge the asking price of these classics...

Kind of a catch 22 deal, some will argue the reasoning some will deal, and others will bash.

3067d ago
2pacalypsenow3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@jgar11 because the xbox 360 games are not remastered. Ps2 games are running in 1080 and with full trophy support, its not BC its a full reworked remaster, alot different than some upscaling that has little difference. That's like me saying I bought tomb raider on Ps3 why do I have to pay for the Definitive edition

Ezz_Snake3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

its clear that SONY/developers uses PS4 success in market lead by make benefits from
(PS3 Remaster Titles/and Now PS2 Remaster)

but at least give the owner of the original titles (DVD/BD) the choice weather he want to use the original (DVD/BD) for free (No Remaster) or pay for (remaster service)

Sony reminds me of the (Joker):"if you are good at something never do it for free"

Kribwalker3067d ago

@2pac

The 360 games are also ups aped to 1080p like the ps2 games and in most cases they are running with better frame rates and look better as well. The ps2 games are upscaled with trophy support and the ability to use the Ps4 built in features as well. Just like the 360 backward compatible games. But the 360 ones are free if you own them

phallusitator3067d ago

@2pac

Why is there even a comparison to X1? Call me when you get original Xbox game backwards support. THAT would be comparable.

What many of you who say, just don't rebuy or just continue to play them on your old system, are forgetting or overlooking is that ps3 is almost 10 years old. Many individuals ps3 has or is starting to die out, yellow light etc.

Thus spending another 200-250 for another one when you already have a ps4 isn't worth it for many. And physical b/c MAY be asking for too much at this point, being they said no from the start, but to own the games digitally, verified with your psn account, and not have access to them or at least a good discount to get them upgraded to ps4 (Nintendo does this, charging 2 dollars or so to upgrade an Snes, N64, etc. purchase from wii to wii u) just seems like a slap to the face to their consumers. This is the 1st time I truely feel they're taking a step back in customer service, customer friendly decisions because they're winning in sales. I hate this and I hate I find myslef agreeing with these xbox / microsoft comments, but in this case its deserved

SegaGamer3067d ago

If they want to play their old PS2 games then they can get a PS2 for almost nothing now. If they want to play their PS2 games with new features then they have to pay a bit extra, there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I'm not sure i agree with how much they are charging though.

Bell Boy3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

damn my Sony vhs is failing what will I do with my old tapes..Sony why can't I play them on my 2015 Blu Ray player......no one ever asked!

Rookie_Monster3067d ago

Whoa...huge revelation there. So it is more or less, a digital purchase version of PS Now. Highly disappointed with that news. D:

UserNameIsNotTaken3067d ago

@Rookie
No it's not.
Ps Now doesn't have games running at 1080p and 60fps with better visuals.

DigitalRaptor3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@ Rookie

The writing was on the wall days ago dude, I even discussed that this likely WASN'T backwards compatibility and that emulation was a completely different thing. And that it was closer to classic PS2 games being ported to PS4 with extra performance and features.

But only NOW it's a huge revelation. How coincidental that this is a huge problem just a few hours before PSX. Dat hyperbole too. Like PS Now? In what conceivable way is this like PS Now? Embarrassingly desperate connection. Because I'm smart enough to look ahead, the only thing I'm disappointed with here is that if you own the classics already on PSN, you should be able to pay a small upgrade fee for each to get the extra featured versions. Other than that, games being boosted to 4x the resolution, enhanced performance, and trophies being custom built with the resources of the original devs shouldn't be free, and if you believe it should be free then you're just trying to stir controversy for the sake of making Sony look bad in favour of Xbone's BC.

But I hope you're having a good time at PSX with you boy Gangsta who both happen to live in SF. What were the chances, eh? Make sure to take lots of photos together dude. And don't forget to dropkick Shu and Boyes in the nuts for this news too. Can tell you want to.

jb2273067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@Rookie

Since you are so keen to point to Digital Foundry articles, why don't you grace us with the link where they showed the 360 BC running at a lower frame rate w/ more drops than their original versions? Or the Eurogamer video plainly stating that these games are running at 4x their original resolution from their original appearances on ps4? $15 dollars is the premium you pay for 4x the resolution, twice the fps in most instances, & brand new added trophy support. Of course the XBO BC couldn't charge because you are getting 1:1 versions of the same exact games.

"Funny, MS is a business too and I not only get to play my disc versions of all the Gears X360 without a fee"

Difference is, you are essentially playing lesser versions of those games 'without a fee' while PS2 emulation is in many instances doubling the framerate & bring a (non native) 1080p up scaling to the table, along w/ brand new trophy support for games that didn't originally have them, created in conjunction w/ Rockstar & the rest of the original developers themselves. Improvements cost money, lesser versions can only be offered for free. If you want to compare true BC, why aren't you comparing XBO's to the Wii U? That BC can play all of the original library, in the same original performance...XBOs can only play a fraction, in some instances at a lesser performance.

This isn't BC, this is a series of reworks achieved through emulation & partnership w/ the original devs. Can't really compare the two.

milohighclub3067d ago

Well this is disappointing :( i really wish it was disc based, i have a massive pile of ps2 games i've been waiting to bust out. now i need to buy them all again for 3-4x the price i bought them at...if they get a release.

Sony have gone a bit s#!£$y since taking the lead. last gen they were "for the players" this gen they are for the monies

m$ need to take lead so sony are forced to at least try please supporters again.

Think i'll go my part and pick up a xone soon. some great games coming out plus a ton of games i missed last gen. It's a shame sony didn't do bc, easily do able now they have psnow, just insert last gen disc and it allows you to stream it. hey presto BC of ps3 games...

Once again, really disappointed with sony this gen. the hardware is great but customer appreciation is right out the window. look at ps now, it's now mandatory and i haven't played any of the games for longer than 10 mins.

RiseofScorpio3067d ago

I have all the GTAs all the GTs. They are screwing us big time because they can get away with it. You saying my collection is useless and I have to pay $75 to play the games I mentioned? That's just 5 games.

Hold_It3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

So much for PS2 backwards compatibility being the same thing as 360 backwards compatibility. Hopefully people won't let Sony get away with this. I await the excuses for they don't owe me a damn thing, or the famous I think I know hardware and architecture and know nothing so let me spin some shit so I sound intelligent.

They aren't going to give us real backwards compatibility because you're going to pay for it, that's why they won't do it. You buy their remasters, you allow yourselves to get suckered into their schemes.

It's not my fault they were stupid and bought Onlive and turned it into PS Now and I should have to feel punished for that because I want to play older games that I already own on my new console so I don't have to own a ton of consoles to play the games I want to play rather than trying to beat Microsoft at their own game and allow you to transfer compatible purchases you made on the console(s) before it.

As much as a lot of you on here want Microsoft and Nintendo on here to drop out and Sony become the only console company, it would be an awful thing. They are slowly turning into the things that I didn't like about the announcement of the "New Microsoft" this gen, but I guess this is what happens when you are sitting at the top by yourself.

RiseofScorpio3067d ago

I'm guessing their cloud streaming isnt profitable otherwise they would have stuck these PS2 games on PS now. I haven't touched the service, its such a ripoff IMO.

3067d ago
WildArmed3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

While I understand their stance if this was for 3rd party games, but they should have shown some love for first party games that people have already bought via PS2 Classics.

I own about 10 PS2 classics myself =/

I'm not saying my 3-5$ purchase should = 15$ re-semi-master-emulation mumbo jumbo, but a discount would have been fine.

showtimefolks3067d ago

I personally don't mind paying because most of these gaming franchises are dome amd won't ge getting HD remasters

10 to 15 sign me up

Ominusha

Quick question

Are the controls also being updated or not?

MatrixxGT3067d ago

Prime reason I do not trust a all digital future. These games have been long gone from store shelves. If they really wanted brownie points they would offer them free for people who own the disc or had bought digitally on PS3.
For the people who wanted to play these old games again but no longer own them should be able to buy them ranging from $1-$5.

These games have had their time and made their money. This is a lame attempt to counter MS BC and it will rip off fans pockets in the meantime. It's almost and insult.

ThyMasterDebater3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

BC scratches my nostalgia itch but I feel this is more of reactionary move from Sony to cover their bases and would prefer they use the resources else where. As much as I enjoy reliving Final Fantasy Tactics among-st other games once or twice a year I found I bought a new console to play new games and my PS3 collects the majority of dust around my place so like an ex girlfriend it's nice to turn on once in a blue.. But not needed.

That said. Good on Microsoft for capitalizing on BC. I feel they need it more then Sony. If you look at the history of Consoles this is kinda Microsoft first step in creating that.. "Hey, Look at are past. We have made some epic games to" and as someone who has primarily has been on PlayStation it's nice to see them doing that for their fanbase.

One thing I feel they need to stop doing and I feel Phil Spencer is on this wavelength is to stop with the PR smut and just focus on games. It's been sonys arch from the start and I feel with the gap 2 to 1 they just really need to show love to the people that buy the Xbox One and continue this onslaught of features they presue. I probably won't buy the next Xbox either just cause it's not in the cards for me but again for the people that do love their xbox's. The future is bright and I look forward to the reactions on the PlayStation side and feature they give us over here :)

Fin_The_Human3067d ago

I wonder what percentage Sony gets and what percentage the developer of the game gets...maybe 50/50.

MRMagoo1233067d ago

WeAreLegion3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

Yetter3067d ago

..and don't play them either by your logic

WildArmed3067d ago

I actually just plan on buying JRPGs I missed in the PS2-era. So won't feel like I'm re-buying games... unless it's a game like DQ8 or Wild Arms franchise... as my avatar might suggest.

DOMination-3067d ago

The problem i have with this is that its now hrd to trist Sony in the future. Some people would have paid for the game originally on ps2 and the classic on ps3. Now they have to pay for it a third time. Whats stopping Sony from charging again on ps5. If its in your games library, you should NEVER have to pay for it again, regardless of if it has had a minor update. This is how it works on Steam, GOG Galaxy and Xbox, why not for Playstation?

So not being able to play a game I've purchased twice already because i don't buy it again is logical. Right. Yes i should totally keep my ps3 out so i can play a game my ps4 can play but won't because i haven't paid for it again is also really logical.

The same people defendimg this are the same people moaning about Xbox One DRM (initial launch). Hypocrisy at its finest.

TripleCs3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

I'm assuming Sony wouldn't be able to implement emulation for every game due to licensing issues. Same reason every 360 game Isn't backward compatible on the Xbox One and must get approved. I'm sure Sony doesn't want to put themselves at risk of developers and publishers suing them but still, Sony could at the very least give people the option to use their PS2 discs for whatever PS2 titles that are in the store that they might own psychically like Microsoft is doing instead of making them buy games they already own. You'd think Sony would at least do that for their fans but of course pay, pay, pay. Sony is nickel and diming people now.. I'm sorry but they are

This is pretty dissapointing news for people that were expecting to be able to put their PS2 discs in and play these games.

PhucSeeker3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

To be fair, they're not marketing this as BC but as in you can buy Ps2 games to play. If it, is indeed, runs the games at a much better framerate then 10-15$ is a fair price for me. Otherwise, no thanks. (unless there're some crazy deals)

I've been coming here for 8 years. I'm a "N4g veteran" and I've seen many of your kind come and go. I can spot a corporate apologist from a mile away. Want me to give you lessons on how to spot them? Well, "you gotta pay."

Imalwaysright3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

The only twisted logic I see here, is a consumer defending and making excuses for the cash grab that Sony is cooking up here.

The only twisted thing here, is seeing a consumer defending having to pay to play games he already owns and already paid for.

The only twisted thing I see here is a gamer being ok to have Sony charging gamers for BC (a first in this industry)

the only twisted thing I see here is seing a gamer siding with a multi billion $ company instead of siding with his fellow gamers that are expressing their concerns over Sony's cash grab.

The only thing that is not twisted here is seeing you bending over to your master. Something that I don't do because I'm a proud PC nut.

Genuine-User3067d ago

I'm neither defending or making excuses.

I'm not suggesting that you should pay for something that you already own. I said if you want a better version, you better bet you'll have to pay for it.

It's not straight up BC. They are offering additional enhancement and trophy support.

I'm not siding with either.

Your last sentence is downright pathetic. Proud PC nut? lol

aconnellan3067d ago

Funny enough, I saw a particular Microsoft exec reply with this statement when people whined about Xbox One not launching with backwards compatibility, and nobody liked hearing it then.

Imalwaysright3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

It's BC through emulation. I can play PS2 games with 6 times native resolution on my PC using an emulator for FREE.

When I bought Uncharted 1 and MGS4 they had no trophies. All it took was a FREE patch for those 2 games to have trophies.

Why are you making up weak excuses to defend this obvious cash gra... Oh I forgot for a moment that I was talking to a corporate apologist.

Yes, I'm a PC gamer. Yes, it's my preferred platform and what's happening here makes me appreciate PC gaming even more.

Remember when Valve tried to monetize mods? All it took was 2 or 3 days for us, PC gamers to make them change their minds. I love the FREEdom that PC gaming gives me from obvious cash grabs. Hopefully PS fans, not corporate apologists, will make Sony remember that they're supposed to be for the players.

Rookie_Monster3067d ago

You are right iamalwaysright. Well said and all your points are so true to how Sony is trying to rip off its fanbase and the reason why they can is because people will asked "how high" when they are told to jump.

We deserved better as gamers.

Gazondaily3067d ago

Genuine, you just did a Mattrick. Come on bro.

(whats your GT again btw, I need to team up on Halo)

Genuine-User3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@imalways

These are enhanced versions with trophy support. I'll say it again, carry on playing them for free with "quadriple" the resolution on your PC.

PS2 never had trophy support. And they were never patched for PS2 classics.

You're talking to a "corporate apologist" that has yet to defend or make an excuse. I say it how it is; Sony is in the business to make money, and that they will at given the opportunity.

You're not just a PC gamer. You're a self appointed "proud PC nut". Sad indeed.

I love the digital "freedom" on PC as well. Lol
Valve's monopoly on PC gaming is quite evident.

Valve tried to monetize mods but failed, mainly because the implementation had to many loopholes to abuse the system.

Similarly, Steam is littered with showelware.

@Septic

Maybe it came across a bit blunt but it is how it is. Expecting anything different especially when the same thing happend on PS3 as well is a bit ridiculous.

Naivety at its finest.

Have you played the beta yet

@Genuine Fanboy

Wow your like Anakin at the end of EpIII such a shill for the emperor (Sony).

You saying I have to pay 150$ to play 10 classics is ok. Wow.

if you already own it, you don't need to rebuy it - what's the big deal?

Masterchief_thegoat3067d ago

When I wrote like that, I got disagree like crazy. but then I realize I got a pic of master chief ^_^

RosweeSon3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

I sort of agree but only got 10-12 ps2 classics on my PS3 as long as these aren't crazily overpriced and I'm sure they crop up in the sales with the up rendering to 1080 trophy support and remote play for Vita its a nice little remake for some classics games would have been nice to be able to just cross buy or at least get a discount but these aren't the same as the ps2 classics, same games sure but they've obviously done some extra work on these, sure trophys aren't all that but up rendering them and remote play is pretty cool although I'm sure I'll be playing full screen at home.
Just hope I don't have to re buy all my ps1 classics as well as I'd love them on ps4 but not sure about re buying them all again depends how much magic they work on those and how much they all cost otherwise I'll be waiting for various sales and sure most will start rocking up in ps+ as they seem adamant not to put and proper ps4 games in their yet not even Killzone for Christmas, hey ho can't wait to see what they've got coming up tomorrow.

JamesBroski3067d ago

So if I already own the physical copies of those games I have to buy them again? PS2 games are so cheap that buying the physical copies and finding an old PS2 (20-30$) will be cheaper than starting to build yourself a PS2 collection on PS4.

Really wish it would be to the Vita though. I would totally pay 15$ to play games on the go.

ocelot073067d ago

I would imagine they would get this PS2 emulation up and running on Vita/PS TV soon enough.

2pacalypsenow3067d ago

They are full 1080p and with trophies

XxExacutionerxX3067d ago

Hey PS Fanboys, DO NOT DEFEND that. Sony is making you pay for games that you already own. I'm pissed off, because I own about 30 ps1/ps2 games and that is a slap in the face just like PsNow is a big slap in my face. 19.99 a month when GeForce charges 7.99 a month to stream games from its service. Sony just shouldn't have done this. (At least give a discount for the lazy port) I love how Microsoft gets the whole "no one cares about backwards compatibility crap from you Sony fanboys". But hey I'm not paying for games I own, and Microsoft is still giving away Xbox 360 games that belong to me.
Wow I'm seeing a big 180 with this company.
PsVue, tv on PlayStation 4 (Didn't Microsoft take crap for having Tv in the console)
That is the biggest slap in the face to all you Sony fanboys that buy into the Sony crap and will pay for the games you already own.
Why doesn't Sony just charge me every month for the system I've already bought, or I have to pay monthly to play my games.

Masterchief_thegoat3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

Don't support this bs. this is like ps now without ps2 games with trophy

djplonker3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@xxexacutionerxx

Xbox: halo

Xbox 360: halo in 1080p with achievements full price and no discount for original owners

Xbox one: halo mcc which includes the halo which people are forced to buy for a third time with no discount for previous owners.

It's funny watching desperate fanboys desperately scramble to any ps4 article they can shed in a bad light yet they cry like the victims whenever anyone posts in an xbox article with any criticism (see halo 5 reviews).

PhucSeeker3067d ago (Edited 3067d ago )

@djplonker:

Halo: Normal halo + Local multiplayer

Halo 360: Normal halo + Better graphics + Halo Reach Multiplayers and it is 40$ like any remaster out there.

Halo MCC : Normal Halo + Better Graphics + 1080p/60fps + online multiplayers.

Not sure what you're getting at but sure, fanboys away.

It isn't just emulation going here, these games support broadcasting, share play, remote play, trophies the video and screenshot sharing to YouTube, and other social media...

Not trying to down MS's methods, but I don't think their version of software emulation allows these features or even similar features per XBO design.

I mean these are trophies and shareplay such, these games are being 're worked to support the PS4...

Kribwalker3067d ago

You sir are incorrect. All features of Xbox one are available while using 360 backwards comparability. You could even be in a party chat with you Xbox one friends while playing xbox 360 games online with 360 players while using backwards compatibility

DragonbornZ3067d ago

@Kribwalker
Lol how'd you get disagrees? What you stated is true.

Sevir3067d ago

Well then I happily stand corrected and concede that MS's solution is better.

RosweeSon3067d ago

Yeah that would be ideal and I'm sure the Vita would appreciate the amazing library of ps2 games there are.

UserNameIsNotTaken3067d ago

I own some discs but they don't really work lol

Where are These Missing VR Games?

As is they're coins down a sofa, some announced games seem to just disappear. So just where are these missing VR games?

There wont be enough demand until the tech gets better and more affordable.

ApocalypseShadow54d ago

The article is more concerned with where the announced games are. Not about VR demand.

Even with my thoughts on Facebook, they did supposedly sell over 20 million headsets. Not that I think that many are still using their Quest headsets. But even if it's only 10 million users and 5 million are interested and able to play GTA SA, that's still a lot of consumers and a lot of sales.

It just comes down to why these developers are taking so long. Is something like GTA canceled? Is it being held back for a future event? It's not like there's competition in the stand alone space. And now that I have a Quest 3 myself, I'm wondering as well what's the hold up.

Profchaos54d ago

For GTA SA
Meta made a lot of budget cuts and cancelled a fair few exclusive game contracts we don't know if this was cancelled but it's possible and this was announced prior to the release of GTA definitive edition which was slammed and eventually moved to be supported in house by Rockstar.

Since then we have just gotten the mobile versions a d they are actually the best way to play the definitive edition unfortunately the consoles never got a retrospective patch to implement the improvements they made in the mobile games.

But for VR we know a VR mode was found in the definitive editions game files thanks to data miners so seeming it was meant to be using the definitive edition as a base given its ue4 that makes sense. And the mode is there right now (some Polish may be required still) I would assume this is ready to go but meta got cold feet and cancelled it given the games reputation.

I do hope Rockstar forge ahead and still just launch it anyway on psvr2 as it's a game I've loved since day 1 on PS2 I'll even tolerate the de version to get it in VR
