So, Konami have announced a freemium version of PES 2016 for the PS4. It’s an ‘entry level’ version of the game and so it’s quite light on content but you can try it for free and if you like it and want more you can add to it with micro transactions. The usual thing really, almost like a kind of demo with added expansion via microtransactions.
This got the Sparks thinking, no one can deny that Star Wars Battlefront is a little on the light side content wise (to say the least) and we all know that EA will be doing their best to suckle from the cash cow for as long and as much as they can with extra content…
However, if Star Wars Battlefront had been released as a freemium title, including either all the content just released (or slightly less perhaps) and adopted an upfront typical freemium model of charging extra for more content, would this have put the game in a better light? Would the fans have embraced this? Or would this approach simply have trivialised the release and lessened audience perception of its stature as a top end blockbuster title?
Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid publisher Konami has reported record profits this year, driven largely by its video games and amusements.
Hanzala from eXputer: "Contra: Operation Galuga is a classic revival done right, but why hasn't Konami done the same yet for the bigger and more popular Castlevania?"
Slowdown. Let them get these suikoden games done first. Alot of us are still waiting for those
well, the new C ontra was made by Wayforward, who have been taking sooooo many of these classic franchises and making new iterations of them. Imo they aren't very good at it. And I don't see operation galuga being a large enough success to possibly give them Castlevania.
Aspyr Media Inc allegedly used a fan-made PC mod to add previously Xbox exclusive content to Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.
Aspyr if we sell hotcakes get that code from radical or something and create battlefield 3 please
I thought that was kind of obvious they were incorporating mods to piece this game together. Maybe not, but that's made me worried about one thing:
They also planned on adding the modded ending to KOTOR 2 but were legally blocked from doing so, even after they advertised that to help sell preorders for the game on Switch. Could the same happen with this? Any opponents have 3 weeks to bring down the hammer.
What makes me upset about Battlefront is that it touts no micro-transactions, yet it segments a ton of content off via DLC/Season Pass. What is bad about EA's pricing model is that they already charge you $60 for the base game/privilege to buy DLC.
When does this Pes F2P release ?
I'm surprised at EA - via Battlefront - is shelling (pun intended) a shell of a game in which DLC after DLC bombards the player...NOT. Let's be square, EA is synonymous with EXACTLY this sype of tactic. And people i.e trolls STILL stick it to Nintendo...
Probably not...because they would be smart enough to keep the best content behind the paywall. Much like we suspect of the DLC. It might work for those who want to shop for Heroes, Villains, and guns a la carte. But, IMO, it needs to be an all or none thing. We'll see how segmented the community gets (if it's still there) when the season pass content releases. (also, how DICE deals with that)
