Just Cause 3 developer committed to fixing “technical issues”

Since launching yesterday, Just Cause 3 has suffered a number of different performance and technical issues across PS4, Xbox One and PC. However those on PC appear to have been hit the hardest. Avalanche have now spoken and are working on fixing Just Cause 3.

I trust avalanche to fix the problems, there pretty good devs when it comes to fixing shit jc2 was fine mad max was good to

TheCommentator3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Unfortunately, all they seem to be talking about fixing in the article is the PC. The console versions aren't mentioned at all in the article.

Edit:

Jump 2 Gamer, I hear you, but the article talks only about the issues with PC. It even concludes by reiterating the point of PC issues. The only time consoles are mentioned is at the beginning. I can only assume that Avalanche is working to patch all versions from reading the article.

JumpToGamer3071d ago

I would be very surprised if they didn't patch the console versions as well as the PC, considering the consoles are far from perfect anyway.

-Foxtrot3071d ago

Loading screens are the worst.

Even when restarting a challenge.

JumpToGamer3071d ago

How about the time it takes to get to the main menu to actually play? It seems to take forever before it even attempts to sign-in...

-Foxtrot3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

I was playing offline one day as the game needed to update and it actually loaded a little faster. Not much but faster then it was

Kind of reminds me of MGSV, if you had that connected to the internet some of the things took a while to get onto like your iDroid

Plagasx3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Yea wtf is that crap?? Takes like a good 30 secs to even do anything...horrible.

Also the camera angles when driving on the PC version is terrible.

GR-kane3071d ago

This trend of fixing games after they have launched has grown very tiresome.

Snookies123071d ago

It blows my mind when developers ship their games with framerate issues and things like that. It's like, did that really slip past them? How the heck can you miss something as noticeable as framerate when it starts dipping? Of course, in most cases I'm sure it's just the publisher breathing down developers necks for release dates.

Double_O_Revan3071d ago

One of a couple reasons why I stopped buying games at launch. It's not worth the hassle or the price. I've been buying games 3-6 months after launch, and by then most of the issues have been resolved and the game is down to $40 or even less.

What a time we live in where Devs push like hell to ship the physical disc on time, then work like hell to patch it in an insane race to the release date.

I remember when games just worked.

WeAreLegion3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

You mean publishers, right?

Things are a LOT more technical than they used to be. It's hard to fix everything. At least we CAN fix issues now. We used to have to put up with bugs for good.

SteamPowered3071d ago

You may be right legion. The pressure would come from the Publishers. I wonder what kind of pull the Devs have in delaying projects.

WeAreLegion3071d ago

I can't imagine they have much, unfortunately. Some publishers are probably more lenient though. Like...how many publishers would have kept pumping money into The Last Guardian? They would have canceled it years ago.

Kingdomcome2473070d ago (Edited 3070d ago )

@Legion- Not nearly for the same duration as TLG, but I've also appreciated the lenience and time that Remedy has been afforded on their projects.

TheColbertinator3071d ago

@SteamPowered

Recently saw Xenoblade X on WiiU in action and I was genuinely impressed. No slowdown, frame stutters, tearing etc

SteamPowered3071d ago

You got me there. I have never encountered a launch problem on a nintendo game ever. I havent tried Xenoblade myself mind you.

VJGenova3071d ago

Anyone who's seen my posts about Nintendo in the past, knows I'm no fan of anything they've done since Gamecube, but I have to agree their games work well at launch every time. Got to give them that!

Bathyj3071d ago

Its great in theory but we may be viewing that through rose tinted glasses. The reality is games release now and we call them incomplete because they are not perfect, but games before patches were not perfect either. The difference is they never got any better and todays game can be improved.

One of my favourite shooters of all time Perfect Dark 64, a masterpiece beyond doubt. But there were times in that game where the framerate would drop to about 5fps. It was a slideshow. I loved the game anyway but there was no way to improve it beyond the state it released in and they worked on that game forever and they might have been the best devs in the world at the time. But I'd hate to think what it would be like if I didnt have the RAM pack.

I'm not defending buggy games. I believe online gaming has brought more harm than good to gaming and buggy games is one of the reasons. I'm just saying dont think gaming of yesteryear was some sort of utopia because perfect games never have and never will exist. Maybe the problem is partly our unrealistic expectations and seance of entitlement. As one who grew up with Atari Graphics and Commodore64 tape deck load times ( Load"*",8,1 ) perhaps Im a little more greatful than some others for what we have now.

iceman063070d ago

So, you remember when you would spend 30 min. to load a game from tape and it failed???? Thought I was the only one!!! LOL
What you said is true. There is this level of expectations that comes with the higher level of technology. What people don't keep in mind is that more complex tech comes with more complex problems. Listening to many of these devs speak, most of them DON'T want to or PLAN to release buggy games. However, with pressures from the publishers and money constraints, there's only so much time they have to get the game in as stable a state as possible.
I, also, am not excusing buggy, messy games. But, I also understand that it's better now that they can be patched than to be stuck with a broken game forever. I just wish that the patch wouldn't be so heavily relied on to "fix" games. I can just hear the big-wig, money-men pushing to "GO" button on a game just because..."meh...we'l l just give them a patch in a couple of months. We KNOW they'll buy it anyway!!!"

Who decides if a games story is average idefinitely ain't listening to no reviewers. I don't agree with most of then anyway. I think alot of them are to harsh on games so they can get clicks

banger88380d ago

Every Soulslike game ever made.

refocusedman380d ago

zelda has a story line? Actually do any nintendo 1st party games have decent (not even good) storylines?

NotoriousWhiz380d ago

Does Xenoblade count as 1st party? That's the only one I can think of.

NotoriousWhiz380d ago

Also, Ocarina of time definitely had a decent (but not great) story.

Brazz380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

Zelda average story line!? Zelda Story sucks, most time It comes to "save the princess", Nintendo sucks at story outside Fire Emblem and perhaps 1-2 other IPs.

DOMination-380d ago

Actually the Souls games and Zelda games share something in common, which is that they reward gamers for seeking out the story rather than thrusting it in their faces. Not saying this is better or worse, but it's unfair to say they don't have them.

People will be surprised to learn that if you dig a bit deeper into Zelda games, there's a whole lot of really dark and crazy stuff happening.

RaiderNation380d ago

@DOMination

Thrust in your face??? I assume by that you mean basic story-telling 101? Lol.

I platinumed both Niohs but for the life of me, couldn’t tell you what happened in the story lol! I can namedrop Nobunaga, but that’s about it.

ChasterMies380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

The pinnacle of bad story but great gameplay is Destiny and Destiny 2. What is the Traveler? What is the Darkness? What the heck is happening? No one knew. But shooting the aliens and robots felt so good.

Brazz380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

Article os about "average" story. But If you wanna talk about bad story but great gameplay you need to look at Nintendo, they are the masters at making poor shirt story on great gameplay.

HeliosHex380d ago

@deus. If you want more of the story fleshed out in detail I'd recommend the destiny grimoire anthology 1-6 25 bucks each. It's really good I loved the backstory on the guns.

Relientk77380d ago

"I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."

Is my favorite line from Destiny's "story" lol

GotGame818380d ago

Sorry, but the princess is in another castle.
