Fallout 4 Review | Meodia

As the year is coming to an end and the Game of the Year discussion is now upon us, an old familiar series has returned and is throwing its name into the conversation. That game is of course the eagerly awaited juggernaut, Fallout 4 from Bethesda Game Studios. Unless you’ve been living under a giant, irradiated rock straight from the wasteland itself, it’s safe to say that you have felt the presence of this super mutant of a video game. The vault door has opened and my eyes have adjusted to my apocalyptic surroundings, so let’s get started. Welcome To The Wasteland

thugtrio3086d ago

Wouldn't score it that high, but still a good game!

Eidolon3086d ago (Edited 3086d ago )

Yeah, 10/10 would mean it's like the best game ever or at least in it's category.

FrostXVenom3086d ago

I would give it 8.5 to 9 even after its patched.
Most of the fetch quests are unnecessarily lengthy and you will hardly get any good rewards for the amount of time you spend there.

NSG3086d ago

Haha to each his own! Personally it's one of my favorites this year

user99502793086d ago

I think that score is pretty close to what I would give the game. Its just so damn good and fun and systemically deep. Been playing it way too much with no signs of stopping. Would have to give it GOTY, myself.

Chiefs3086d ago

I agree. I am pretty addicted to the game myself. Its such an expansive world and there aren't many games like it. GOTY is a tall order, but it's definitely a competitor

ZaWarudo3086d ago

A 10/10 for me as well. Most fun i had in years.

Adexus3086d ago

I'd personally give it an 8/10, it's awesome but it feels shallow and not as immersive as Fallout 3 or New Vegas, the new conversation system is quite rubbish and your main character having a voice takes away even more immersion for me which is strange as I've always preferred talkative protagonists over silent ones.

Not to mention the side quests feel really generic this time around, I haven't come across any really meaningful ones comparable to Harold's quest in F3.

BlackTar1873086d ago

new vegas is the best for sure i like this as much as fallout 3 not anymore or any less

Dario_DC3086d ago

My personal experience so far is less than a 7.. Actually stopped playing until it gets patched. Already lost npcs in Santuary due to various bugs, like when I built the old ladys chair both teleported to the roof and never saw them again!
Too bad because I'm such a Skyrim fan and was hoping this was as good...
I'm actually thinking about trading it for Just Cause 3.

BlackTar1873086d ago

i feel like im the luckiest Fallout player . I have almost 0 issue with the game no gltiches of worth no nothing just flawless for the entire game. Im pretty damn far too im lvl 45 and have probably like 100 hrs into it already.

MONOLITHICIDE3086d ago

Agreed all ive seen is yao guais floating in mid air, falling through roofs and some over little glitches. More funny than anything. Occasional frame drops. Dont see why it couldnt be a 10. This and bloodbourne for my GOTY.

Dario_DC3086d ago

I'm glad you have no issues.
To me these type of things keep happening too often..
Between bugs and really boring /lenghty side quests, kinda killed the mood for me.

BlackTar1873086d ago

can you better explain the bugs you're having?

Are there any game breaking bugs? I'm asking becasue if you're so upset over some small time bug then maybe just never play Bethesda games anymore and save yourself some DOUGH.

It's too bad about your experience though but my experience is consistent over the 4 people i play with while in party chat.

Dario_DC3086d ago

As I already said, lost npcs and one companion (dogmeat) for start. Teleporting npcs that lead to a quests no being done and me not having my "reward".
Hit detection/combat is messed up too, head shots only hit when the game decides to.
Broken dialogue, they start talking, for no reason stop and that's it, don't know what to respond after.
DUMBEST AI companions I've EVER seen! Can't do stealth at ALL unless I'm alone! This to me is a GAME BREAKING! It literally BREAKS the stealth part of the game!
I know Bethesda games all too well, loved Skyrim even with bugs (played on PC).
Not bugs but the side quest are BORING and take WAY too long, specially when compared to Skyrim.
This game is such a let down to me. I hope patching will help me go back to it.
For example the Witcher 3 has really slow/clunky/boring combat but everything else is spot on, with Fallout 4, besides the main story, it's just too boring and the bugs just made me stop playing it for now.

BlackTar1873086d ago

Fair enough im not sure what you're playing on but man that sounds crappy.

IMO if your goal is to stealth you shouldn't be using a companion anyways. Stealth is usually not defined as a group effort in VGs

NSG3086d ago

Bugs can ruin a gaming experience so that I understand. Thankfully once been fortunate in that area to not have experienced many. Only npcs vanishing on rare occasion but that's it

user99502793086d ago

you're better off. Mama murphy is a psychotic skankazoid. I drug her blow her up with Mininukes in my spare time. Waiting for mod support so that I can tweak her parameters a tad...

MEGA MURPHY!!!

I Think It's About Time We Realize Fallout 4 Wasn't That Bad

Ahmed from eXputer: "2015's Fallout 4 received harsh criticism upon launching, but I think it was unwarranted and the game deserves more praise than it got."

helicoptergirl4d ago

It was totally that bad. I couldn't finish the campaign it was so bland and boring as I recall. Got so sick of it. 1000 stimpaks on hard. It is very rare that I play half a game and then just quit. I usually always finish it. But i was so bored with this game I just stopped and never went back and never regretted it. Just thinking about that game makes me shudder

Furesis4d ago

That's exactly what happened to me too lmao
Fallout 4 is not a fallout game period it's a bethesda game

Vits4d ago

The comparison with Skyrim is mind-boggling. Yes, Skyrim has streamlined many of the systems that Morrowind introduced. However, it did not tamper with the core of the Elder Scrolls franchise; it did not diminish the freedom and sense of exploration that made Bethesda RPGs famous. Fallout 4, on the other hand, did exactly that to the Fallout series. It eliminated what made Fallout such a beloved series to play. There are no consequences for your choices, no reason to explore, and barely any interesting set pieces in the game.

It's not terrible, but it's a painfully mediocre game in a franchise that typically doesn't produce such mediocrity. So that is why people see it as bad, the bar is just much higher.

anast4d ago

They both feel the same because they are, it's just that one has swords and magic and the other has swords and guns.

anast4d ago

I'm replaying it now. It sucks. I'm about 30 hours in and thinking about quitting again. I am so tired of the dialogue I just spam a random button because it doesn't matter. The upgrade just feels like a graphical mod, everything else is not good.

Good-Smurf4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I couldn't play the game as-is it was insanely boring and grindy and the grind itself are not fun at all.
Mods helped me stomach the game a bit better but after a while I just stopped playing and uninstalled it because the game did nothing after the first few hours to give me any motivation to keep playing it, it just became a mindless looter shooter with obsession in settlement building and defending.
Compared to F3 and FNV, F4 was barely a mediocre game it wasn't bad but it's also very forgettable entry.

MrDead4d ago

It's not that bad after 300+ mods that fix it's issues and make the game fun... but lets not talk about mods right now as they are f****d.

They really need to get rid of weapon mods and bring back more unique weapons that are hard to get / find

anast5d ago

They won't improve it other than a slight graphical upgrade. They have always been better at live action than making games.

MocBistro5d ago

Only way it could improve is taking it away from Bethesda and regroup Classic Fallout (1&2) devs with decent budget and time to make it.
