“VR is not really the direction that we’re headed”: Naughty Dog

The biggest developer under the PlayStation umbrella is not looking to embrace the fancy VR tech any time soon.

It'll be interesting to see which studios take the risk with VR projects

mushroomwig3091d ago

I can see David Cage and his studio doing something with VR for sure.

SlappingOysters3091d ago

totally agree on that, but it will be years away. Polyphony Digital is, but racing makes a lot of sense. Media Molecule is. Maybe it will be some of the third-parties or indies who push it into interesting places?

freshslicepizza3091d ago

uncharted 4 will be coming before psvr comes out, so of course they will not talk about any direction they are headed. but beleive me, there will be pressure from sony and i don't care who thinks naughty dog is untouchable and do what they want. they will do something with psvr to help promote it. naughty dog got caught up in the whole 3d tv stuff last generation and they will with psvr. that is what first party studios do, help sell hardware.

Spotie3091d ago

No one believes you with anything Playstation oriented. And why should they?

WeAreLegion3091d ago

That's fine. Do whatever you want. A good game is a good game. I just want to see what some of these bigger studios CAN do with VR. I'm excited for the technology and want to see it used to its full potential.

That's cool, not everybody will buy a PSVR after all, and the last thing I want is people missing out on grand experiences because they failed to buy a (let's face it) very expensive peripheral. I know I'll be counting my pennies when PSVR comes out.

They should let some other devs test the waters first.. Im sure something will inspire them to create an amazing title later.

someOnecalled3090d ago

So basically like last and this gen. Let small and indie devs take risk and innovate then big studios copy and act like its something revolutionary. Well i guess that's how it always was in every industry, no need to want big devs to take risks.

DivineAssault 3090d ago

Not true, theres big publishers on board with it already.. ND said they make 3rd person games and want it o be great whenever they get around to it.. Theyre going to be busy with TLOU 2 for the time being..

someOnecalled3090d ago

Theirs a vr 3rd person game for ORift. I guess theyre gonna make one after ORift devs show them how its done.

ND is overrated. I love their games but they just take popular movies and TV shows and put it in a game formula.

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts54d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos54d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts54d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
