Sounds good! The map really didn't need to get any bigger than Just Cause 2. Happy to hear it's roughly the same size.

danowat3080d ago

Lot more empty space (water) than JC2 though?

Null3079d ago

Why don't people learn from these mistakes? A big world of buildings, spaced out jungle and a bunch of water does it mean anything if you can't really do anything with it. If you cannot take a Bethesda approach to the open world or a CD project red.. Don't announce your open world because most the time it will be like a Rockstar/ far cry/just cause 2, where is a bunch of space but nothing to do with it
(aside from going point a to point B)

subtenko3079d ago

dont kno y u have disagrees.....i wish gta had more interior building...doesnt have to be all....i'd just trade it for some of the map i never go to...

Ehh... half right. JC2 had a very big map, a lot of land area, but there were many places where not much was going on. But in some ways it was realistic, in that villages and military bases aren't always on top of each other.

On the other hand, while I enjoyed Shadow of Mordor very much, its map is a bit too crowded, and the Orcs have a tiny 'area of awareness'. There's a lot going on, but it's so close together it takes me out of the experience a little. I mean, I fight a pack of Orcs, and what seems like 50 feet away some slavers don't notice the screams and explosions.

JC3 looks like (a) a good size, but (b) more packed with stuff, yet (c) easier to get around in with the wingsuit and fast travel. Seems like a good balance.

A different approach than Bethesda, sure, but not everything has to be the same.

This is a stupid comment, one of the most stupid I've seen on this site.
What is a "CDPR approach to open world?"
Funny that you bring up water when almost half of Fallout 4, a Bethesda game, is filled with water.
CDPR open world is aping R* open world and Gothic open world.

There is no reason to even enter the majority of buildings in GTA's world because there wouldn't be much content behind it. It would be just like a Bethesda open world, enter people's house for the sake of it just to find their bed and crap in there.

sullynathan3079d ago (Edited 3079d ago )

@null Yes, your "opinion" is null and void like your name.

It's a fact that CDPR apes R* style open world. Most of the industry that makes open world games were influenced by R*, even Bethesda were.

Fallout 4 being almost half water isn't an opinion either.

Witcher 3 took Gothic 2 style of rpg.

Who decides if a games story is average idefinitely ain't listening to no reviewers. I don't agree with most of then anyway. I think alot of them are to harsh on games so they can get clicks

banger88381d ago

Every Soulslike game ever made.

refocusedman381d ago

zelda has a story line? Actually do any nintendo 1st party games have decent (not even good) storylines?

NotoriousWhiz381d ago

Does Xenoblade count as 1st party? That's the only one I can think of.

NotoriousWhiz381d ago

Also, Ocarina of time definitely had a decent (but not great) story.

Brazz380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

Zelda average story line!? Zelda Story sucks, most time It comes to "save the princess", Nintendo sucks at story outside Fire Emblem and perhaps 1-2 other IPs.

DOMination-380d ago

Actually the Souls games and Zelda games share something in common, which is that they reward gamers for seeking out the story rather than thrusting it in their faces. Not saying this is better or worse, but it's unfair to say they don't have them.

People will be surprised to learn that if you dig a bit deeper into Zelda games, there's a whole lot of really dark and crazy stuff happening.

RaiderNation380d ago

@DOMination

Thrust in your face??? I assume by that you mean basic story-telling 101? Lol.

I platinumed both Niohs but for the life of me, couldn’t tell you what happened in the story lol! I can namedrop Nobunaga, but that’s about it.

ChasterMies380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

The pinnacle of bad story but great gameplay is Destiny and Destiny 2. What is the Traveler? What is the Darkness? What the heck is happening? No one knew. But shooting the aliens and robots felt so good.

Brazz380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

Article os about "average" story. But If you wanna talk about bad story but great gameplay you need to look at Nintendo, they are the masters at making poor shirt story on great gameplay.

HeliosHex380d ago

@deus. If you want more of the story fleshed out in detail I'd recommend the destiny grimoire anthology 1-6 25 bucks each. It's really good I loved the backstory on the guns.

Relientk77380d ago

"I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."

Is my favorite line from Destiny's "story" lol
