Super Star Wars Will Release on PS Vita as Well as PS4, Cross-Buy Wins Again

Here's something we didn't expect: Super Star Wars will release on the PS Vita as well as the PS4. Wicked, right? The game has been reworked to include trophy support, something that just didn't exist when it first released back in the days of the SNES.

Cant wait for these, especially Bounty Hunter, played that to death on my PS2.

This is actually one of the coolest things I've seen or heard of in about a decade. God, the modern day direction of gaming and the entire economic model of it seems to completely suck. Fun for the Win.

SNES games on Vita with trophy support, that's cool. Now if Sony would reduce the price of the Vita to $130 and the 64GB cards to $30 and I would gladly buy it and this game.

JustGamin853103d ago

would be nice to see a holiday Vita sale for $99.99, i would def buy one at that price point.

DragoonsScaleLegends3103d ago (Edited 3103d ago )

I'm hoping we will see one under $150 within the next couple of months. Of course if the 64GB cards weren't so expensive ($85-$130 while MicroSD 64GB cards are $20-$30) I would have already had a PS Vita.

Seriously though look at these prices GameStop are charging for it:

GameStop - http://www.gamestop.com/ps-...

Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0...

MicroSD Card - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0...

Sony must have been smoking really good grass when they were designing the PS Vita. I mean of course you don't want piracy to hurt your console sales but like Nintendo has shown you can still make plenty of money without a proprietary memory card. Hurting your customers pockets is not the correct way for combating piracy.

JustGamin853103d ago (Edited 3103d ago )

drpepperdude ~ Yeah those prices are way to high i'm surprise Sony hasnt lowered the price on their vita to $99.99 and keep the mircosd card at the same price, visa versa lower the mircosd card and keep the vita at the same price point. Pretty much $150-175 would get you the vita and a 64gb mircosd card.
Its only a matter of time before playstation vr comes out and really makes the vita sales even lower what they are, seeing how i rather drop $150 towards new tech (i know vr will be more than $150) rather than one that hasnt gotten alot of love in a long time.

sonarus3103d ago

Definitely getting this on PS4. This was one of my all time favorite games on SNES

Mr_Writer853103d ago (Edited 3103d ago )

They make a loss on the Vita so need to make their money back, they do so on the memory cards and software.

The more the Vita sells the less of a loss they make, that then allows them to lower the price, they are a business not a charity.

Look at the Dualshock 4, £50 for a controller is very expensive, but it's because they probably don't make a profit on the actual PS4 (I believe they do but it's not a huge one) and it's the software and other things like controllers etc that makes them more money.

I wish we were getting Jedi Force Battles. Loved that game.

Majin-vegeta3103d ago

I rather have the two original SWBF ;_;.But alas I'll be buying these games

ab5olut10n3102d ago

Jedi Power Battles? Yeah that game was pretty rad, good challenge, cool combos.

I am not a big Star Wars guy but I enjoyed Shadows of the Empire on the N64 I found it at a pawnshop one day for $20. I bought it and I still enjoy it from time to time I only own three Star Wars games in my collection Shadows of the Empire and both Force Unleashed games. I remember my grandmother would rent a game console during Xmas she grabbed the N64 and Shadows of the Empire I sat in front of the tv all the time with that game.

JonDiskonected740d ago

Even though I enjoyed it a lot when I was young. That game got destroyed in reviews.

Isn't that what "underRated" means.

jznrpg865d ago (Edited 865d ago )

I really enjoyed Commando as a kid and it’s not listed . I bet it’s cheap maybe? Beat all 99 levels just to find out you start all over again .

You must be talking about Captain Commando and no it's not cheap...going for about $130.

Jiub865d ago

I'm surprised Illusion of Gaia doesn't cost more

Any retro console is still worth buying in 2022 whether a Genesis, NES, SMS, TG16. Some systems command a higher price then others but a SNES is still reasonably priced and worth grabbing you can mod the NA SNES to play Japanese games throw in an Everdrive and you're set. I feel sorry for some of the consoles I see on Ebay that have holes in them, yellowed to death, modified with shitty mods that barely work. The SNES might need a little work great way to learn if yellowed just use peroxide and UV light and it will turn white again. If you have a hobby of repairing older consoles that are listed as untested broken for parts some of the repairs are basic you can save money that way when buying a retro console. I just bought a $20 NES listed as broken on Ebay disable the lock out chip and new 72pin connector and it works.

Jiub864d ago

I imagine restoration work on retro consoles is going to become much more important as the years wear on. Sure, hundreds of thousands of certain consoles were made, but fewer exist every year.

Knightofelemia864d ago (Edited 864d ago )

Depends on the console a SNES for sure needs retrobrite the plastic grows brittle and literally falls apart same with the NES. A White Dreamcast also needs retrobrite if I remember right the TG16 needs new capacitors it suffers the same issue as the Game Gear. Most of the old handhelds need new screens since they fail with age my Game Gear had new capacitors put in and a McWill mod done to it. The NES needs the lock out chip disabled when the power light turns on and off maybe throw in a new 72pin as well. Sega Master System has an issue blowing out the 7805 voltage regulator. OG Xbox depending on the board revision needs a clock capacitor removed or it leaks and fries the board. N64 controller needs a new thumbstick Sega Genesis model 2 suffers from the solder around the power supply is prone to cracking hence the system will not power up. Sega CD model 1 the laser dies fast model 2 the rubber feet supporting the drive fail and the model is know to throw the pico fuse so it dies fast as well.

It also depends how you treat the system also I baby my shit. I don't throw it around like a football the systems I see that might need the most help going through the years are the ones that use lasers and discs. I know some systems have problems due to how they were built as well like again certain board revisions of an OG Xbox and the Game Gear. I have bought broken systems and picked them for parts. I actually enjoy fixing older systems it's relaxing and a great way to teach yourself new skills.

I know the Super Star Wars games weren't "technically" great (loads of slow-down, imprecise controls) and were super difficult, but I loved these games growing up and still enjoy playing them from time to time.

Neonridr1208d ago

I have cartridge copies of 1 & 3. Will eventually track down a Super Empire Strikes Back, but agree with you. They were frustrating and annoying at times, but loved them to death.
