Michael Crisman writes, "I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the team tasked with designing the follow-up to Resident Evil 2. RE2 improved upon every facet of what made the original so memorable; the end result is a title still hailed as one of the best survival horror experiences even now, nearly twenty years later. Since I don’t work for Capcom, that’s something I’ve never had to worry about. Nevertheless, this is where new director Kazuhiro Aoyama found himself with regards to said follow-up: Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, released today back in 1999."
The modern entertainment industry has witnessed the rise of the Resident Evil franchise as one of its most renowned and celebrated multimedia phenomena. With numerous video games released across multiple platforms, it can be daunting for newcomers to determine where to commence their journey. So here is every main mainline Resident Evil Games ranked.
In preparation for the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake, let’s take the liberty to rank each of the mainline story instalments, providing players with a fundamental comprehension of the Resident Evil universe.
You'll need to own a copy of the original of course but the mod is free.
From Xfire: "The Resident Evil franchise is back, perhaps better than ever, with critics and audiences alike singing nothing but praises for the latest mainline installment, Resident Evil Village. Naturally, the latest Resident Evil game brings even more nightmare-inducing moments to the tally, adding werewolves and nine-foot-six tall vampires to the mix."
RE1's first zombie encounter was definitely creepy in its own right, but it was the Cerberuses that jump through the hallway windows that gave most people a fright. You didn't know what to expect at that point, as nowhere felt safe. Furthermore, not only does the back of the game box mention (let alone show) zombies, but the official strategy guide prominently featured a zombie on the cover as well. It wasn't a secret.
Everything else is on point though.
I still think RE3 is much better than RE2. Both are excellent games but the Nemesis was just on class of his own.
He is one of the best Villains in gaming history.
Nemesis never fails to raise my heart rate, intense chases!
I loved this game when it came out.. It didnt have the impact like RE2 but it was still great
Such a great game. Badly needs a remake.
I am a huge fan of Resident Evil Nemesis (actually playing through the game currently) and I am very surprised alot of the design choices hasn't carried over in other games (such as the dodge mechanic and counter attack.) The game gave more ways to escape the clutches of the infected but balanced it out by significantly increasing the number, lethality (it's not a word but should be lol) and types of enemies to deal with. Also the dodge mechanic required very precise timing juxtaposition with attention to the topography of the area requiring a great degree of skill to master in execution.
I could go on with praises for the monster design, decision system and the big guy, Nemesis, himself but don't want to change my post into a thesis. Ill just end with Biohazard III and REmake are still the very best that the series have to offer by far.
