I'm leaving Android for iOS, and I blame late games

Polygon:
The release of The Room 3 finally broke me. Last night I went to my local AT&T store, suffered through the inevitable awful wait, and traded in my Galaxy Note 4 for an iPhone 6S Plus.

It's not that I dislike Android devices, or the hardware. The phones are only getting better, and Samsung's line of phones does many things that Apple either can't or won't match. I have a SIM-less, Samsung-provided S6 Edge for use in the Gear VR, and it's a wonderful device. Android is more flexible and, if you're willing to spend the time getting everything just so, Android is a much more personable, able mobile operating system.

dear lord.. you couldn't wait a few more weeks for a game on your phone?

bloop3106d ago

Do people actually think that strongly about games when buying a phone? Besides, he has a galaxy s6. He'd be lucky to get 15 minutes out of a full charge with the thing playing games on it. If anyone here is thinking of getting one, I'd strongly recommend going for something else. One of the worst products I have ever spent money on.

Neonridr3106d ago

really? I have an S6. Works fine for me. My battery lasts all day. I guess if I am doing marathon gaming on it maybe the battery won't hold up.

Maybe you have a defective one. Ever think about having someone look at it?

My "worst product to ever spend money on" actually was an iPhone 5. iOS is so much worse than Android that I will never, ever pay for an overpriced Apple product again.

@Article: I knew it was Polygon just by reading the title, no other outlet in this industry could be as hipster hyperbolic as these morons.

boing13106d ago

Same here. Zero problems with battery.

uth113106d ago

Periodically wipe your cache partition on Android devices from the service menu. It works wonders for the battery life. Every time I do it on my S5, I start getting 2 days or more off a single charge. After a couple months I'll get less than a day and its time to do it again.

It's quick and easy to do and Google can find you the exact instructions for your model

bloop3105d ago (Edited 3105d ago )

I've had nothing but trouble with the s6. Battery barely gets me through the day. I don't play any games on it, average about an hour call time a day and check a bit of social media and browse a bit on it. Stock sms app just stopped working out of the blue. Bluetooth has a mind of its own. Never have any coverage on the f*cking thing!!!! And loads of other anomalies going wrong with it. On my second one and planning to bring this one back as all the same problems starting to happen. Maybe I'm just very unlucky!!

@uth: Trust me man, I've been pulling my hair out since I've got this phone and have been trying everything to prolong life.

nix3105d ago

Woah.. When i got Sony Xperia Play i was so into mobile gaming. Now i don't use that phone anymore and i now don't have a single mobile game on my phone.

But this guy looks like is really into mobile gaming. If i was still using my Xperia Play, i would have been little bothered to know about mobile gaming but i would have never moved to ios. That phone was awesome. When i slid the phone, the comptroller would show up.. That surprised lots of other people.

First time I heard of games being a deciding factor for a phone purchase.

KwietStorm_BLM3106d ago

Literally the first time lol I don't understand life.

NeckBeardBSMTDweller3106d ago

IOS>ANDROID, atleast when you buy a phone its not obsolete and worthless in 3 months.

KwietStorm_BLM3106d ago

I guess that's really saying something when current Android phones outperform the iPhone, that won't be refreshed for a year.

emad-E-three3106d ago

Yep a restricted locked OS is much much better than an open source OS! Its not you its just us who fail to see the wonders Apple is providing /s

emad-E-three3106d ago

Oh and btw my first IOS was an iPhone 4 and my first and Android is Xperia Z Ultra, I'll let you guess which is obsolete with its OS and home button on its first MONTH!

HammadTheBeast3106d ago

Nah it's just obsolete in 6 months, when they release the S version. Meanwhile, you can root your Android phone to run any custom rom, most of which drastically improve performance and battery life.

Specswise, even $500 Android phones have higher or equivalent specs to the $1200 iPhone.

paul-p19883105d ago

Buy a top-of-the-range Android phone for £400, or buy an iphone with lesser specs and features for £700 because a guy in a turtleneck told you to...

Yup, I see your logic there /s

NeckBeardBSMTDweller3105d ago

All i hear is crying from people who hate it because they cant afford it.

I definitely have an iPhone due to game releases. Some of the more daring developers out there publish on iOS first, because a portion of their people are still willing to actually pay for premium games.

For example, it took forever for Vlambeer (Super Crate Box, Nuclear Throne, etc.) to move Ridiculous Fishing over to Android, and that's one of my favorite games. Downwell is a wonderful experience on both PC and phone, and the one dev is targeting Android next, but again, a late release.

Hey, every so often you've gotta spend like five hours at the DMV, and good, compelling games on your phone are a life-saver at that point.

Throw a console emulator on your 'droid and play some real games while you wait for the port.

DarkOcelet3106d ago

Best answer right here.

Download PS1 emu and playing Silent Hill 1 and Resident Evil 3 on the mobile is actually pretty awesome and A million time better than all the crappy mobile games.

HammadTheBeast3106d ago

Yeah I'm playing Legend of Dragoon and FF IV with the PSX and PSP emulators.

MoveTheGlow3106d ago

I used to when I had a fold-out keyboard on my Android phone, but oh man, virtual buttons can be hideous on those emulators, and while I'd love to just be able to whip out a controller at any point in the day, that's not in the cards. It's a problem across the board, but especially a problem for games where mobile would never have been taken into account.

HammadTheBeast3106d ago

If you have a phone with bluetooth, you can connect a PS4 controller to it. Works with most emulators as well.

freshslicepizza3105d ago

and this also supports the argument that apple users spend more money on apps and games than android users. this is also a reason why apple gets more support.

u4one3106d ago (Edited 3106d ago )

get used to it. theres a record rate of android users switching to iOS lately.

"We believe that iPhone will grow in Q1, and we base that on what we're seeing from a switcher point of view. We recorded the highest rate on record for Android switchers last quarter at 30 percent."

You guys can disagree, but as people on here always say - facts are facts and they are different from opinions... and opinions on mobile OS of choiceare irrelevant to said facts... nor do i or most people care who thinks what is better.

To each their own when it comes to ios vs android , I was just referring to the fact that this person is switching due to mobile games.

lol where did you pull those facts from? I wouldn't take the word of the CEO of Apple too seriously when he's talking about competition.

Fallout Shelter's Lack Of Ending Makes Perfect Sense

DualShockers writes "Has infinity got you feeling down? From the Penrose Stairs to the π symbol itself, some things just have no end in sight, which can ultimately lead to apathy, or even full-out rage. Human brains aren’t designed to naturally think too far outside a book-ended reality of beginnings and endings. Case in point: the spinoff stepchild of the beloved Fallout series, Fallout Shelter."
