amiga-man3106d ago

Thats a lot of games, Looks like I will have plenty of options for my new PSVR when I buy it day 1.

Game4Next3106d ago

Summer Lesson day 1 !!!

Matpan3106d ago

I mean, I get the excitement and all. I am hyped. But do you actually read yourself after writing?

Looks like I will have plenty of options for my new PSVR when I buy it day one!! Yeah! Batteries not included...

really, it sounds right out of a commercial. Is this a human writing?

trust me, if you buy it DAY 1. it is gonna be new.

nosferatuzodd3105d ago

Well said brother lots of games indeed the future is so bright I need VR glasses lol

N4g_null3105d ago

Matpan your are not suppose to see the bots man. It's just good marketing, to make or hire fans.

Im am curious to see if this is support the full gen. Sony has a way of dropping support for things.

amiga-man3105d ago

Matpan, i'm sorry if you are somehow offended, I added the day one part after typing the first bit as I wanted to point out that I will be jumping straight into VR, and yes I'm excited.

No the word new wasn't needed in the end, but hardly a reason to shoot me down bud.

zeee3105d ago

Would love to play bf4 on this!

Matpan3105d ago

Hahahahaha, all cool amiga-man (by the way... amiga, what an awesome platform) I am just sometimes baffled by the level of company or product "loyalty" or praise I read arround here. People take all too much to heart and it´s just... stuff.

:) no offense whatsoever, I just made an observation in a very cynical way, I meant no offense to no one, nor had I taken any.

The real deal maker is what games are coming out on launch day with the PSVR. I'm crossing my fingers for No Mans Sky, Rigs, and Alien Isolation.

fr0sty3106d ago

There's also the games already out that will get VR with a mere update, like War Thunder, which has had VR in the works for a long time now and will very likely be ready on launch day.

S2Killinit3106d ago

Well, they've already said that it will launch with 10 games, just like any console launch. But i agree that it would be wise to include at least one compelling game for those on the border. As for me, im in it for the long haul. I know that launch games are usually not great games, but its always exciting to own them for the novelty factor. Im a day one purchaser myself.

kaizokuspy3106d ago

I held off on jumping next gen until this Feb 2015. Bought a ps4, over 100 games later, back logged like you wouldn't believe, and will be buying PSVR day one. I'll be there with you man. Long haul indeed.

ginsunuva3106d ago

"can't believe they can manage graphics like that in PSVR"

What does VR have to do with graphics?

MRMagoo1233106d ago

Well the better the graphics the lower the frame rate usually. The head set needs a high framerate to work properly.

ArchangelMike3106d ago

Considering that the game has to run at 120fps (even if the frames are reprojected) it is impressive that the games look so good and run so fliudly. The last thing you want in a VR game is lag, or framrate drops - two things that can be casued by graphically demanding games.

Matpan3106d ago

proper VR means you do two sets of rendering per "frame" one for each eye... that is what makes the trick. Than tiny dinstance between the "eyes" that gives the depth perception illusion. So it has a LOT to do with graphics and processing power. So for a game to run at 30 FPS you need to actually render 60 frames per second.

Tapani3105d ago

Most likely the multiplat games displayed here are the PC versions. PSVR cannot put out stronger than PS3-era graphics, it's too taxing to the system otherwise. But the immersion and new gameplay ideas will help to push the system. Day one for me with RIGS.

Taero3105d ago

I don't know how much it will affect it but the PSVR has it's own processor as well, though I don't believe they've said what it's used for.

S2Killinit3105d ago

Its said that PSVR will have an external chip (as you mentioned). Its unclear exactely what tasks can be offloaded to it, but this much is confirmed that it can basically take a 60fps feed from the PS4 and boost it to 120fps which is needed for smooth VR. Having said that, the PS4 would be free to render games in VR without having that extra burden. Its definitely exciting. I really look forward to what they can do with VR.

Ps: since you mentioned PS3 graphics, i would LOVE to play a game like Skyrim in PSVR. (:

they got over two hundred games are coming on psvr. i can tell this thing is taking seriously. no wonder Facebook and google are spending billions of dollar investment on vr right now. 2016 will be the biggest tech of the 21 century. not just for games but even multimedia contents on vr will be huge. architecture, army squad training, virtual movie theater, pay per view VR for UFC or NFL live stadium first person view with actual size of the stadium size. porn industry is excited too but i rather have my lady becasue its 4d(i can touch it too)

Tapani3105d ago (Edited 3105d ago )

I'd say quantum computing, nanotechnology (not the nanotubes, but arranging individual atoms and later subatomic particles), synthetic biology and fusion energy are far "bigger" than head-mounted displays.

ApocalypseShadow3106d ago

Games upon games and the headset is not even out yet.the last article talked about if Sony can sell it. What the detractors can't seem to put their finger on is that the technology WORKS. It ***WORKS***

Comparing the upcoming vr headsets and their games to Virtuaboy when Virtuaboy was 20 years ago and NOT even vr makes you look dumb.it's like comparing a brick phone to a modern Samsung Edge phone on capability.just no comparison.

Vr is real and is coming if you like it or not.it's beyond what the wiimote could do.beyond what kinect could do.and only adds to what PS move can do as it was already ACCURATE. But even then, its only an OPTION. There's still Horizon,Uncharted,Detroit, etc for those who don't want it.so don't complain that it will interfere with core development.obviously it hasn't.

Even if Sony only sells 20-25 million psvrs over ps4's lifetime, that is a great start. And even if only 300 games are released for it,you telling me that that's not enough games to choose from?PS move has over 150 games.

http://hubpages.com/games-h...

Did you play them all?that wasn't enough to choose from?and that was just an OPTIONAL controller.

This video alone shows that vr can change your view on things.and that's just a cheap google cardboard that I also enjoy. Psvr will blow it away.games is just a small part of what's coming.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
These kids get it.

AgentSmithPS43106d ago

Day one for me. Sad that some people are so boxed in by their beliefs that they can't even see the (already existing) potential of the little 'box' right in front of their face.

SniperControl3106d ago

Well said Agent.

I've said this already, i'll say it again, most of the people who are condemning VR have never even tried it, that's the thing that grates me the most.

DigitalRaptor3106d ago (Edited 3106d ago )

Spot on, as usual.

I see people continually bringing up Sony's past peripherals to use as some kind of argument as to not buy it, or why they won't support it, or why it will fail. Yet, PSVR is more supported than any PlayStation peripheral in history. Way more. Sony is doing good on this. The focus is strong from first and third party.

GT Sport, for heaven's sake.

And you're right, the tech works. It's as immersive as we're ever going to get at this point in time, and even early prototype demo software on unfinished hardware has blown minds across the world with its levels of presence. There is a vast community of technologists and developers working out solutions to common VR problems and having support from such a sea of minds from across all the VR platforms will make the learning curve even easier for these devs making new experiences. Thus, more games and more support.

UserNameIsNotTaken3106d ago

On the bright side, you're famous! Yay....

Rumored PlayStation May 2024 showcase could happen this week per industry insider

A renowned industry insider has suggested the rumored PlayStation May 2024 showcase featuring Silent Hill 2 could happen this week.

Bogus!
Why would Sony do that and how would this benefit them?
1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event.
2) Risk of not having great coverage or proper coverage from the various source
3) It could give the impression that they are not confident in their own stuff.
4) They would miss the chance to hype the event losing viewers and losing free marketing time.

Again I'm calling it bogus unless it's a small showcase before the big one or because they want to announce that Hellbalde 2 is also coming on PS5.

SlothLordPootus9h ago

As far as I can remember, they typically give a week heads up for these sorts of things.

Lightning778h ago

I was about to say Sony always gives a week in advance for their show.

VersusDMC8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Last year it was a weeks notice.

https://blog.playstation.co...

May 17th announcement for may 24th show.

VersusDMC8h ago

Nintendo always tweets that a direct is happening tomorrow but no one cares.

Sony gives a week or days of notice and we get anti sony type fake outrage like this.

But good luck trying trying to get some Sony hate going...

Petebloodyonion7h ago

You just mention it!
Sony gives a week in advance NOT just a couple of days.
So I fail to see what Sony's hate movement I'm trying to start when it's a basic business strategy to not piss off your partners (ask Sega).
And I doubt it's hate to ask how it would benefit Sony in doing so.

thesoftware7307h ago(Edited 7h ago)

@Versus
Huh? What?

Bro you really should relax, if what you read was some kinda negative against Sony.... seriously, is that what you got from the comments?

Bro, he was debunking the rumor, and gave perfectly good reasons why it would be unlikely, and your Nintendo Direct comparison is different, as this is supposed to be a BIG Sony showcase, not a surprise 20 min direct, and Sony 's pattern has been one week.

Slow down warmonger.

VersusDMC6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

@thesoftware730

"1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event."

That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind?

And it's not like they need that many resources to cover the stream. They just need 3 people to react to the stream live and make some easy articles made up mostly of summaries of Sony provided press releases. They would have enough time to "prepare" if it was announced with one days notice.

Petebloodyonion5h ago

@Versus
" That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind"

No, it simply implies that some media all over the world might (keyword MIGHT) not properly cover the event like having proper articles for each game announced, or having a proper preshow. maybe some popular YouTubers won't have time to prepare or simply your local newspaper doing an article on tech and game.

So why would Sony take a chance?
What benefit would that give them?

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 5h ago
Petebloodyonion7h ago

Before I get tons of replies for Sony given a week in advance, my initial comments are related to the notion that the Show could happen this week as the title mentions.
Now to be fair the complete article mentions that Jeff said the Show could happen later in May giving time for Sony to give the normal 7-day notice.

Again not trying to start a negative thing here just thinking that it's bogus that Sony will have a show this week

notachance6h ago

Yeah as much as I’d like to hear what sony’s 1st parties have cooked, it’s not their style to shadow drop a showcase.

Still waiting for ghost of tsushima 2, I’m ready whenever man..

You're assuming media outlets don't know about it.

What Will The PlayStation 6 Look Like?

While we haven't even begun to tap into the full potential of the PS5, fans are already beginning to talk about what Sony's next console, the PlayStation 6, will look like and what features it will have.

“While we haven't even begun to tap into the full potential of the PS5“

We always here this statement yet we have plenty of games that struggle to run at solid frame rates or decent resolutions.

Skuletor4d ago

The developers should know the limits of these consoles, especially this far into the gen. I'd blame them and possibly the publishers, pushing to make games as visually appealing as possible at the cost of resolution and frame rate, which is nothing new in the industry.

franwex3d ago

I may skip next gen altogether probably. We will see.

Diablo IV is Available on PlayStation Cloud Gaming - Beats Xbox to the Punch

Diablo IV is now available to play via PlayStation Cloud Gaming! Still not available to Play on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Not for me, I'm 100% physical media all of the time.

jwillj2k47d ago

I hate that I have to keep calling this out, but your physical disks mean nothing if the game code attempts to connect to a server prior to playing.

Hugodastrevas7d ago

And that happens when? I'm playing completely offline here, stellar Blade to be more precise.
I'm sorry but I've never run into that imaginary problem you're talking about, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it has never happened to me.

jwillj2k47d ago

You not running into the problem yet has no bearing on my argument. You’re acting like the medium is the shield for you being able to always play your games when it effectively is not. The game code itself can try to connect to a server or the console you’re playing on may receive an update that requires that game to connect to a server. Just because you haven’t ran into it doesn’t mean anything lol you don’t own your games no matter how you try.

Hugodastrevas7d ago

So I have never run into the problem you're talking about and your answer is an hypothetical? Look I can play any game of my library offline right now without issue.
That issue is in your mouth and alone.

Crows907d ago

Actually...there's an easy way...don't connect. If it doesn't require a connection and you don't connect...the code can't update...obviously....confused why you don't get what he's saying.

outsider16247d ago

Hold on..lets say i dnt have an online connection, can i atleast play the game offline though. Was thinking of getting this

jwillj2k47d ago

None of you use your brains.

OK, let’s explore this playing offline. not talking about Diablo specifically just gaming in general.

Are you going to buy two PlayStations? One offline one online? If not, moment you want to play something that requires a connection you’re cooked.

Does game experience you love so much stay the same offline?

Is the game even playable offline?

The whole point of my argument is that we don’t hold the keys anymore. The gatekeepers are the developers and console makers regardless of whether it’s digital or physical. You altering your play style for a lesser experience is not a workaround, it doesn’t solve the overall problem.

None of this matters since the move to the cloud is inevitable.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 7d ago
spicelicka7d ago

So you have to buy the game and can only stream to the PS5 devices using PS plus premium? What is the point of that. Much more useful when you can stream to other devices.

MrNinosan7d ago

Works great on my Portal while at work 👍

spicelicka7d ago

That's streaming off your PS5, not from the cloud. This is specifically referring to cloud gaming.

CrimsonWing697d ago

Can’t you, uh, do this on your phone?

Tacoboto7d ago

Sony doesn't yet have a web or app-based solution to stream games off their cloud service, the closest you may be able to get would be Remote Play if they allow cloud streaming during a Remote session.

And yes this applies to the Portal too.

Einhander19726d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Tacoboto

Please stop talking about PlayStation Streaming, you don't know what you're talking about.

I just explained this to you the other day where you were telling people that remote play was their only cloud solution, because apparently you didn't understand how PlayStation Premium works even though PS Now was a thing since shortly after the launch PS4..

You can stream to PC and Mac, and they had mobile clients for it in the past but probably for the same reason Microsoft is fighting Apple and Google PS Now wasn't allowed on App stores. Which is why it's not on iPhone and Android still.

And to be honest, I am glad they are trying to keep it on the console, all their moves away from the console seem like a step in the wrong direction, which isn't working so great for Microsoft...

anast7d ago

Blizzard is shoving this game everywhere. Diablo 4 is going to take an even bigger hit soon. Path of exile 2 is coming out and it looks insane.

Crows907d ago

Well they're about to release the next season...I think that might be way they're pushing the game again.

anast6d ago

I mean I get what you are saying, but D4 isn't doing that well either.

UnbreakableAlex7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

I completed it on gamepass. Thanks God I dint pay it full price. It plays like a lazy mobile game. I am not a pro diablo gamer (Diablo 1 was the only one I completed) but D4 has no atmosphere, no creepy feeling and soundtrack like the first one and its so easy, I managed to not buy any weapon and had 4 Million Credits on level 55. I always used the same 4 attacks from the beginning and died maybe 10-15 times. It's so easy, wtf. I remember D1 to be pretty hard.
WTF happened? Is Diablo 3 also that bad?

jwillj2k47d ago

Diablo 3 was my first Diablo game. I had to use the mailbox cheats to keep it interesting.

Crows907d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Diablo 3 was really hard at launch....then they made it easy.

They love scaling difficulty though.

anast6d ago

D2 is the pinnacle. I still fire it up from time to time.

GrmpyolGamer 7d ago

Considering that the PS cloud steaming is garbage compared to XCloud and is limited to certain devices this isn't something to brag about. Wake me up when Diablo is on PS plus
