DF:
Four years on from its predecessor, Bethesda emerges from the vault with the hugely anticipated Fallout 4 - adding new technologies to its Creation Engine on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Equipped with an improved physically-based lighting model, it's confirmed the game's development process began with the team porting its earlier work to Xbox One first. However, optimising for both platforms has evidently proven tricky since, and on analysing the reality of each console's frame-rate at launch, the results are something of a mixed bag.
First up though, we can confirm PS4 and Xbox One render at a native 1080p resolution, with no compromise in either case. It gives us a sharp base image, and in presenting a post-apocalyptic world that sprawls out for virtual miles in each direction, it pays off hugely in keeping the image sharp on views across the wasteland. It's a surprise for Microsoft's machine too, with its previous history of cutting back on resolution in similar open...
Despite being verified for the Steam Deck, Fallout 4 has issues running on the OLED version of Valve's handheld device. Here's how it works.
Isn't this a better and easier work around?...
There is a partial workaround that adds the Fallout 4 launcher back ;to the Steam Deck version of the game. Players need to add “SteamDeck=0 %command%” to Fallout 4’s launch options in the game’s settings on Steam Deck. But it’s wild and not great that players have to do this just to change visual settings while playing on Valve’s portable PC.
Some PS Plus subscribers can now access the next-gen version of Fallout 4 after Bethesda addressed concerns on Thursday, but others have still been left in the cold.
This update on PC kills mods, they still didn't improve or fix the draw calls and if you have an RTX card the game still crashes unless you turn off debris.
So if you mod the game it now looks worse, plays worse, all of your saves are broken and the game breaking bugs are still present.
Yeah I've had friends rebuy the game because the ps plus didn't work and they used to own the last gen version sold off the physical after the PS plus pack included fallout when they got the ps5.
So overall I know ms has likely warned quote a bit from this error.
This game hasn't aged well. I was really looking forward to the update, but I'm just not enjoying it. I never did get on with the settlement building and raiders, and I still don't. I won't be going back to this now.
They aren't really missing much. I've been playing it for awhile and it's just a polished turd. Low effort, hyped up like a full release.
The next-gen update for Bethesda Game Studios' Fallout 4 currently has a bugged out Quality mode on Xbox Series X|S.
They have and they haven't just download 60fps and ultra setting mod and gane looks great
I noticed that performance mode on or off both 60fps which is best mode to use then?
been waiting on this from digital foundry!!
Good work guys!!
Once again you prove you're the go to source for performance analysis!
nice to see the Xbox One version hold up for a change without major sacrifices.
