Electronic Super Joy isn't a game for everyone, far from it. It's extremely difficult, prompting this reviewer to swear more than in recent memory and battle with the urge to fling the controller across the room in a rage. Yet it's brilliant and addictive, with a unique blend of visual trickery and clever design - along with a pumping soundtrack - to keep us coming back. There's plenty of content which should take most players a number of hours to clear, too, making it a relatively rare example of both quality and quantity on the eShop.
If you bemoan the lack of challenging platformers in the modern gaming scene, it's time to put your money where you're mouth is with this one - it'll make you work for your joy.
Electronic Super Joy is simply too little too late to make it a worthwhile purchase on Nintendo Switch - especially when you consider its higher price tag than even its Wii U counterpart. It does include a few extra level packs, but It's ultimately bettered by games which came almost a decade before it, so it's a hard recommendation unless you have the patience of a saint and absolutely adore the genre.
I love this game plus finished it, including both Dlc's.. 9/10 from me..a proper hardcore platformer
Wow, 9/10 is high! If you played VVVVVV, Super Meat Boy, BIT.TRIP Runner & Runner2, I'd be intrigued to hear how you think those compare?
I am a fan of Super Meat Boy, and the whole Bit.trip series in general. I wasnt big fan of VVVVV.. Electronic super joy for me is better than all of those you have mentioned, but that doesnt mean I dont love Bit.trip stuff, which I really adore
