New Details And Screenshots On Quantum Break's Frozen Reality

In Quantum Break, time is just as much an ally as it is a foe. The player has some special abilities when it comes to time manipulation, but occasionally time stutters will freeze the action and shift time in dangerous, uncontrollable ways. It's up to the player to survive.

PFFT3112d ago

Ahhh yeah! I cant wait to get my hands on both games!

Kingthrash3603112d ago

This is why a Xbox is sitting next to my ps4, I've been on this since it was revealed 2 years ago. I just hope the do away with the real people cut scenes, Too corny and would take me out of the game. So even 8f it dosent look as good as these shots it's a day one buy for me...

Bansai3111d ago

the first 3 comments are awesome, good job guys, keepin' it about gaming, such a rare thing...

StifflerK3112d ago

Totally agree, those time effects look stunning!

This game looks stunning. Remedy always delivers on gameplay with awesome stories to match.

VforVideogames3111d ago (Edited 3111d ago )

Microsoft should release this game the same day that Uncharted 4 comes out so both can go head to head on a next gen battle. Disagrees are for Quantum Break and agrees goes to Uncharted lets se who wins!!

DeToX4203111d ago

You realize you are on n4g right sony fanboys outweigh pc xbox and wii combined so there would be no point in your sill game.

The games looks amazing but in my humble ""Opinion Warning"" folks I think UnCharted 4 looks better QB even though it's a great looking game with great gameplay.

d_g3112d ago (Edited 3112d ago )

i think it’s kinda not fair to compare them because Quantum Break is totally different game graphically ,Uncharted 4 don’t have those insane physics and time breaking

Uncharted 4 more Comparable to rise of the tomb raider IMO

Genuine-User3112d ago

That's not true.

Digital Foundry:

"Uncharted 4 goes much further than any PS4 or Xbox One game we've seen in its use of physics, and the layering of world detail with shaders."

i’m not saying uncharted physics are not great but Quantum Break is just a different type of game

Rowco1473112d ago

First link you posted water doesn't do anything at all from that explosion

mark_parch3112d ago (Edited 3112d ago )

@rowco147

I don't think it's an explosion, I think it's a time bubble. the bullets slow down when they reach the edge and when the bubble disappears the bullets finally kill the man. his powers are all related to time, I don't think he can just make an explosion unless he shoots something explosive lol

Flash813111d ago (Edited 3111d ago )

That's the way I feel about Horizon Zero Dawn. The Physics looks so great!! Quantum looks like Alan Wake Physics and I think their using the Northlight Engine which is Similar to Alan Wake. You should compare Quantum Break with a different game like Infamous or something. I'm sure this game will release on PC later just like most Remedy games and that's what Microsoft and Phil wants to do anyway.

I personally think this blows Uncharted 4 out the water. The particle effects, lighting and anything else we have seen so far from the little shown of both games.

Sparta073112d ago

@ red, no just no. Qb is a good looking game but not better then uncharted. I'm hoping to have an xo by the time this comes out.

gangsta_red3112d ago

Yes Sparta, very yes. QB is looking much better than Uncharted.

You should definitely get one, this will be just one of the hottest games to get next year.

Genuine-User3112d ago (Edited 3112d ago )

Hyperbole detected.

Blow Uncharted 4 out of the water? Tell us more.

LiViNgLeGaCY3112d ago

*Looks at comment history*

Of course you think this blows Uncharted 4 out of the water. It looks great, but no. Uncharted is definitely the better looking game. Sorry.

Sparta073112d ago

Red says " personally think this blows Uncharted 4 out the water" lol, really
Then he says "QB is looking much better then uncharted" LMFAO!!!
Why red? Cause one is an Xbox exclusive and the other is on a console you desperately hate...!? Sorry man but uncharted looks amazing, every little detail that is put in that game like when Nathan is walking through the crowd or the chase scene you can't even tell the difference between cut scenes and game play.
I respect if you prefer to play one over the other but when you say things like "Qb blows uncharted out the water" well I'm sorry, your just being silly.
Can't take you seriously.

DigitalRaptor3111d ago (Edited 3111d ago )

Yes Genuine-User.

Hyperbole indeed. I had the Condescending Wonka meme in my head as soon as I read it. This is the same guy who has a go at me for supposedly "overselling PlayStation games", yet here we have the same behaviour, and the only reason anyone would possibly be saying this is because well.... fanboyism. A desire to make it seem that a game releasing close to Uncharted 4 is better than it, for no reason other than, well... the aforementioned. He won't go into specifics though... "particle effects and lighting" is pretty much all he can muster (which is bogus), but he won't be able to explain what it is about those though - they never do. Seems too dazzled by the pretty lights to pay proper focus.

Gangsta, when are you going to stop pretending you're balanced, as if your comment history doesn't tell a clear story from pretty much your first day on this site.

jb2273111d ago (Edited 3111d ago )

Regardless of the final graphical fidelity of either game, art direction is VERY important & NDs art team is head & shoulders above all others.

QB looks amazing & it's by far the best looking game for my tastes on the XBO, it'll no doubt be the first game I play whenever I grab one, but if we are doing comparisons (not sure why we feel the need to), Uncharted just has a better & more unique visual style & level design. If I'm being honest, the environments & graphics for QB look like a mashup of Infamous:SS & Watch Dogs...the gameplay mechanics will most definitely be fun & unique but the art style is fairly derivative. Look at the groundbreaking work ND did w/ the dilapidated cityscapes reclaimed by nature in TLOU, or the Himalayan section of UC2...they made a template w/ their representation of the Tibetan peace flags that has been utilized across many games, Far Cry 4 included. Their physics work w/ water for UC1 was unanimously praised, their work w/ snow for UC2 was revolutionary, their work w/ the physics of sand in UC3 was masterful (sharing assets helping to create Journey, another highly acclaimed title), & their work w/ mud physics for UC4 is already turning heads.

You can't simply look at prerelease materials & demo footage for games & claim unanimous victories when it comes to visual art...a gamer would need to sit down & play through both titles, then they could give a subjective opinion. Very much looking forward to both games but if track records are anything to go by in these instances, Naughty Dog's is simply longer & higher quality, end of story. Not many would argue that the work done in Alan Wake would rival the entire Uncharted series along w/ TLOU.

BallsEye3111d ago

@LiViNgLeGaCY

THe thing is while Uncharted looks great, technically it's way behind Quantum Break. You simply have no idea how much processing power it takes to be able to pull off mesh deformations of every single object in the game world. There is so much going on in QB that it makes Uncharted look very static. Same thing with people comparing The Order ( a more hardcore comparison). The order looks great, but all of that processing power went exactly into that, with nothing left to any kind of interactions, AI, increased number of moving objects etc. QB is a league of it's own.

bladesofagony3111d ago (Edited 3111d ago )

Agreed, nothing like I have ever seen before on any consoles till date, QB is just on a whole 'nother level

gangsta_red3109d ago (Edited 3109d ago )

Wow...all this because I think QB looks better...where to begin.

@Genuine
"Blow Uncharted 4 out of the water? Tell us more."

No need to, it's my opinion and it's obvious that no matter what I think you will defend Uncharted to death. So why bother?

@LiViNgLeGaCY

*Looks at comment history*

Of course you would think Uncharted is a better looking game.

See how that works?

@Sparta07
"Cause one is an Xbox exclusive and the other is on a console you desperately hate...!"

Please show me one comment where I have stated i DESPERATELY hate the PS4?

"I respect if you prefer to play one over the other but when you say things like "Qb blows uncharted out the water" well I'm sorry, your just being silly."

Why, would I be less silly and better respected if I bent the knee to Uncharted?

@Digital
"Gangsta, when are you going to stop pretending you're balanced,"

So is this about the game or a focus on me personally. Interesting, you would think this would be against N4G rules.

But I guess not soooo, Digital once again piggy backing off of others. First you claim I'm over selling but then say "He won't go into specifics though...". So which is it Digital, could it be that you are just upset because many including myself have called you out, caught you on your extreme Sony fanboy-ism, your constant PR sale for anything Sony, your ALT account you use to push your Sony agenda and your concern type trolling in every Xbox article?

It must kill you Digital that a person can actually be balanced and not have to cater to one system like you do. A person who has admitted to being a Sony fanboy and hating Xbox. A trip through your first page of comments can truly and honestly reveal that.

Keep trying though.

@jb227
I think QB looks better, why are you trying to sell me the history of ND and the Uncharted series?

Are you people so defensive that you can't accept anyone who doesn't share your opinion?

cartoonx13112d ago

well i think both looks great for the consoles they releasing for, ofc since ps4 has better GPU power it has to be better. But still QB looks great.

Love games that allow me to manipulate time. Always end up screwing around and trying to find new wacky ways to kill enemies.

Also maybe Im just a crazy but is it entirely possible that the both Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break look amazing?? I'll definitely be getting Quantum Break since I have a X1 but whenever I get a PS4. Uncharted 4 will be one of the 1st games I purchase. You fanboys need to relax and just enjoy the games.

gangsta_red3112d ago

Yes, it currently has a Must Play mode.

Outthink_The_Room3112d ago

I pray it has Horde Mode.

The idea of a map breaking down, caught in a violent loop, WHILE having waves of enemies attack would be so crazy.

Buildings collapsing back and forth while you're running. It's not just enemies you need to avoid, it'd be the environment.

Imagine taking cover behind something, then watching it float into the air and leaving you exposed for a moment.

QB could literally have the greatest Horde Mode, ever. It's not even an opinion. The idea that an environment would play a huge role in the Horde Mode itself would be redefining.

I really hope Remedy has Horde. It would give the game so much more value.

15 Xbox Games That Should Make the Multiplatform Jump

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit60d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead59d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica59d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL59d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Friendlygamer60d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit60d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer60d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit59d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff218359d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer59d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

  Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff218359d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper59d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal59d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood59d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff218359d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde59d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer75d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion75d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning7775d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai75d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.
