@PC- Not really the issue, the developers are not making a game that is made to run that. Pretty sure if they wanted 60fps, they would lower and remove effects to get 60fps.

It has nothing to do with the console, it has more to do with the developer. They are not aiming for that and it doesn't fit the concept of the game to them.

Consider any game can be 60fps, you merely need to remove many graphical effects.

That has a lot to do with personal design and not console limitations. No one is forcing them to have a graphically demanding game, they want to and will lower frames to get it.

Could they not just use the last game's engine if they wanted that setting?

Clearly they have a new engine for a reason. They don't have 60fps because they can't, they don't have it because they don't want the trade off, it isn't worth it to them clearly. That has nothing to do with consoles. Consider if consoles where more powerful, could they not just make the game MORE demanding and still seek 30fps? LMFAO!

I'm sure the game will allow 60+ on PC.
Developers tend to aim for a high fps, if possible.
It's a little disingenuous to say they designed the game with 30 in mind. If the power was there, the game would be 60.
It certainly has to do with power. But people are so obsessed with graphics, it's easier to market a pretty game, than a smooth one.
But they damn well wish they could do both.

Well personally I would rather have the additional graphical effects and detail over the extra responsiveness. This is not a twitch shooter.

Consider the different factors before you say it sucks.

That's what I say. Incredible atmosphere, detail, lighting and effects locked at a solid 1080/30fps. You wouldn't get a lot of that at 60fps.

Most dvelopers will go for visuals over frame rate, as it's a way easier sell.

Pretty much anything to get that 1080p. But not really the last few gens though, 60fps was more prevalent in the sixth gen if memory serves.

Well as long as it's actually locked, 60fps would obviously be better especially for a FPS but a locked 30 is solid

There's a big difference between 30fps with lots of fluctuations and a rock-solid consistent 30fps. So yes, 30fps with no dips is indeed solid.

This gen is so annoying. We've been playing games at 30fps all this time and nobody has complained. NTSC tvs were even 50hz back in the day so wouldn't have even been possible to do 60fps. Not to mention, DEHR was 30fps and i didn't hear a single person moan about it at the time.

They'd have to sacrifice too much to do so. I get it. If you don't like it, build a rig that can handle it. That's what i did.

Also, you didn't hear anyone complaining about Blodborne's FPS, well besides me of course ;-). Still that game looked really good and ran, pretty well. If definitely dipped to 20 FPS here or there, but nothing like other games, AC Unity and the like.

I played Bloodborne and liked it but it would have been a hell of a lot better at 60fps or a locked framerate.

Most aren't, due to it costing a lot of time, work and pretty effects, whilst being a harder sell to the average consumer.

This is why i play all multi-plats on pc. 30 FPS doesn't bother me per se, but dips below 30 drive me crazy. Blightown, yes, i'm talking to you. That was the last game i bought on console that was also available on pc. Never again, i said.

Same here. I am SO used to 60 FPS from PC that 30 doesn't feel right anymore when i play on consoles. No matter what game it is. I literally have to turn on 240 HZ on my TV to better enjoy my console gaming.

Makes me wonder if the console cycle after this one will have 60FPS as a standard. I've seen two console cycles pass by with 60FPS sprinkled here and there.

Maybe when we hit a brick wall, and they can't push the visual fidelity and effects any further we might, but that's probably still a long way off.

Nope. It will never be standard. You have to understand that a graphical scarfed will be made regardless of how powerful you make the system.

They are using near max on graphics...

They do so because they want to, they don't need to. They could seek 60fps...they don't by choice, that is by design, not due to power limitation.

Did Wipeout HD not run 1080p 60fps?

Soooooooo why did every game not run that? It has to do with every game isn't also looking to look a limited as Wipeout looked in terms of effects.

Give a developer 5TFLOPS of power, they will max it out and choose to ignore 60fps.

The games that want that setting, will seek that setting, it will never be standard as no developer simply sees 60fps that way.

Gamers love making it sound as if its some standard...that isn't what developers think as they are making it really, really clear that the don't want that above graphical settings and effects.

At the end of the day, they still need to compete with other publishers, developers etc. Why should they make a lessor looking game for setting many won't even notice?

I'm pretty sure many will notice a brand new engine, vs 60fps.

Did GTAV at lessor not outsell GTASA even though GTASA on 360 was 1080p, 60fps etc?

Next gen, you'll once again see....they will choose better graphics over numbers.., they will not lower graphical effects for numbers if it doesn't fit the concept of the game.

To go 60fps next gen, just like this gen...will mean to not be as graphically impressive as they actually can be, thus...other games will use more power for better effects. I don't think many really, really know why they are seeing this setting.

Its not due to power, its do to developer choice.

They don't need to use the power given for 60fps if they don't want to, once again....give them MORE POWER, they will merely make a more graphically demanding title.

They will use 60fps if they want 60fps, if they don't want it....no powerful system will make them change their minds.

They again are not using 60fps due to lack of power, they make their game as demanding as THEY WANT TO, could they again not just use the same engine as last gen if they indeed really wanted 60fps? Could they not turn off many effects to get 60fps?

Consider Wipeout HD on PS3....ran 60fps. I don't think many of you really get how easy it is to really run that setting.

Not really surprised. Just hope it's a solid 30 for the people who will be playing on console. Though I'll be playing it on PC, Deus Ex is one of my favorite franchises and so I want the devs to release a title that plays great for everyone. I have faith that both versions will be great
