Shaz Mohsin writes: "Before the days of massive explosions, high octane action, incredible set-pieces, zombies, remarkable narrative style, and emotion filled characters; Naughty Dog was known for their talking animals, weird elf-ish creatures, and creative, colourful, and cartoony platforming games.
Nostalgia plays a massive role when coming to entertainment. It’s that word alone that keeps a company like Nintendo afloat. And with the constant ‘remasters’ and ‘remakes’ and ‘reboots’ and ‘re-whaterverthehell’ this generation of gaming has had, it begs the question of, “Do we really need another reboot?” Jak’s smaller cousin, ‘Ratchet & Clank’ is already getting a remaster– heck those guys are even getting a movie alongside a remaster of their original game (which, by the way, looks incredible). So is it just all too much? Should Naughty Dog really invest their time and efforts into rebooting a franchise that already has 5+ games to it's name?"
The WellPlayed team has come together to share which video games they’d like to see turned into a TV show.
The PS2 birthed various notable PlayStation mascots, but Ratchet and Clank appear to be the only ones that made it on every later console generation.
We needed remakes of Jak and Daxter more than pumping out an unnecessary "remake" of Last of Us.
Then again, we're hilariously now getting a "remake" of Horizon Zero Dawn, so Sony is already outdoing themselves.
Nahh we don’t need these kind’s of games we need more walking slimulators like Naughty Dog games and remakes of games that aren’t even 10 years old because they make money right Sony. The fact that R&C is still around AND still good is a goddamn miracle that i’m very grateful for.
the last R+C (rift apart) was definitely way better than I wanted to give it credit for before playing. still one of the best, most impressive ps5 games imo.
Even though it's been 13 years since the last brand-new Jak and Daxter game, several factors have allowed Naughty Dog's franchise to survive.
I know naughty dog has no interest in this, but man I love to see this series return, or at the very least get blue point onto remaking the original 3 games please!!!
They have moved on from the series, they have said so many times. I'd much rather that Sony builds a new studio for continuing the Jak and Daxter series
They should let sanzaru games do it.They did a good job with Sly"Thieves in time
""Make it darker, make it massive, make it completely different while still holding the same characters and that same wonder we got from playing the original titles""
"Make it darker".
My reaction:
- What? FUCK OFF!
I am a big fan of J&D series and platform games in general, and didn't like the darker style of ND's binned attempts from a few years ago, which we can see in the article. Why the hell EVERYTHING has to be dark nowadays? Why everything needs to have serious story and lots of emotions? It's a platform game for fucks sake, it should be enjoyable, have good balance of relaxing and challenging, with more focus on the relaxing part (that's where this genre shines) and it should allow to visit great looking, weird and never seen before worlds. At 60fps, with good music and controls, with good jokes and overal AAAAAAA quality. Just as all three J&D games on PS2.
They should. I'm sick of Nathan Drake, i hate him. Jak & Daxter were so much charismatic, iconic and fun characters. Nathan is just an empty shell.
Besides Ratchet & Clank are coming back so it would be the right time to slap them off.
I love Jak and Daxter. If ND is on board (with most of the original team), I am all for them making a sequel. However if they aren't, personally I would rather a studio create a new IP/game in the style of Jak and Daxter than to see another company make a sequel. As much as I love Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, they were played out to a pulp and the last few games for both series left a bad taste in my mouth. I would hate for that same thing to happen to Jak and Daxter.
