SEGA to Delist Sonic The Hedgehog from Xbox and Wii

Hardcore Gamer: Get it while it's available folks, the Blue Blur is leaving Xbox Live Arcade and Wii Virtual Console in the blink of an eye. SEGA has announced they will be delisting both Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2 from the online marketplaces.

It released on the 3DS, and still remains there but it will most likely move to the NX in some form.

They still have a working relationship with Nintendo so it's probably more so that wii won't be around too much longer either.

They arent even making a use of some of their own older IPS, what would make them use any of Segas? Other than some of the more recent games.

Breaking News: All games will be delisted from the Playstation 3, Wii, XB360 Marketplaces somewhen down the road. Its just a matter of time.

It's the problem with digital downloading. It's a scary thought and people only stand up and take notice when it actually happens.

Yeah.

I like digital downloading and all that but a lot of laws that defend consumers and also those that make it possible to treat digital software like everything else are needed sooner or later.

Digital software should be able to sell as example and if you bought a game for the wii online and it works also on the wii U or the NX it should be possible to play the game on the enwer systems without the need to buy the same game again

License expired? How can a license expire when you own the IP.

Nintendo nor Microsoft own the license. Sega does. Nintendo and Microsoft let their license to sell the games expire.

Sega wasn't responsible if it is still being offered on PSN.

Speaking of SEGA, why haven't they released Sonic 3&K on PSN or iOS yet

This may be involved with the "Valkyria of the Blue Revolution" patent SEGA filed recently.

Best case scenario is that Sony has bought SEGA and SEGA is creating a new Valkyria Chronicles exclusively for PS4. (They would also gain ATLUS, which is behind the phenomenal Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series games, as well as all of SEGA's IPs.)

It's a smart decision, if it's what is happening here.

I didn't much like the version that was on psn anyway. The Sega Genesis collection had the full Sonic 2 experience, the level & sound select, debug mode and split screen, they were all still there.
