Elite Dangerous: Horizons Receives One Hour of Planet-Landing Footage

Niall De'Ath writes: "Elite Dangerous will soon be unleashing its most ambitious expansion yet in Horizons. Previously, information had been somewhat scarce, but in a lengthy live stream by the game’s creators, Frontier Developments, the update’s planetary exploration features have been shown off in all their dune buggy glory."

This is seriously what it looks like?

1 minute of exploration on a single planet in No Man's Sky looks far more vibrant and interesting than 1 hour of this bleak, empty stuff on Elite. They might as well not bother. Can't say this is one of the features I'm looking forward to when it comes to PS4.

in the beginning of the video they said this Gameplay was just about the SRV

i’m sure there will be more stuff to explore in this game

Sm00thNinja3145d ago

No mans skyss planet exploration looked equally mundane

_-EDMIX-_3145d ago

you mean factually full of life? lolz...sure bud.

Sm00thNinja3145d ago

It's not that it doesn't look vibrant but after I land on a planet what's there to do? Combat looks dull and exploration seems tedious... Just me Elite Dangerous looks boring too BTW

_-EDMIX-_3145d ago

I've got to say...that is the most boring footage I've seen of this game thus far. This isn't making me want it more, I'm actually not looking forward to this title, not even a little.

Show some life and interesting reason to explore and maybe I might care.

beans3145d ago

That was simply incredible! Looking forward to more future updates.

Lamboomington3145d ago (Edited 3145d ago )

The terrain itself is a bit underwhelming visually, but that's about the only complaint I have.

People calling it boring without having seen any actual gameplay aside from a stream showing off the buggy handling. If you take that stream for what it is, the stuff they showed was quite impressive. Exploration will have the same sense of awe and realism as the rest of Elite

As for the more exciting planet-side gameplay, here :

That look boring to you ?

Gozer3145d ago

Looks fun to me. Im sure there will be gameplay that covers a full array of intensity(just like the vanilla game). FD is in the process of making an incredible game with ED.Ive read about where ED is heading in the near future, and on paper it all sounds amazing.

This is a great space exploration game.

Markdn229d ago

Shame it's no longer supported though, :(

anast229d ago

A revive might be needed.

MrNinosan229d ago (Edited 229d ago )

What do you mean by quietly?
They announced it last week along the other games that was released yesterday on PS+ Extra/Premium.

GamerRN228d ago

They are trying to make it look like a casual drop, while trying to make it look like it outshines Starfield.

ModsDoBetter229d ago

Great game, sadly abandoned by the developers due to the different version it ran compared to PC.

Plenty of hours to be had, we just miss out on a bunch of cool features and story development compared to PC players.

raWfodog229d ago

I was bummed when they announced they wouldn’t be bringing Odyssey to consoles. That was when I really began losing active interest in the game. Up until then, I already had about 800 hours invested in the game.

PunksOnN4G229d ago

Nah I'm good this the dev team that had console plans then decided not to and only work on the PC version why would I support a trash company

z2g229d ago (Edited 229d ago )

its ok. its def a pc game that made its way to console randomly. been out for a few years so its not exactly "new".
