How about showing us some new footage its out in a few weeks I haven't seen anything new since E3

raggy-rocket3116d ago

I kinda like that. I know there's the whole problem of me being a naiive consumer, but I trust them to make a good game and I want as much to be fresh as possible.

UltraNova3115d ago

I'll just wait for them, to patch it a couple times first and then play it. I do like my ps4 working and my save files not-corrupted after all.

Dont get my wrong I'm an avid fan of Fallout games and Bethesda's in general but I can admit that their coding sucked up until now. I got burnt far to many time to jump in early again.

That said I hope they surprise everyone this time by releasing a fully working game at launch so we can enjoy that god ridden wasteland.

nveenio3115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

Oh yeah. I forgot about their coding problems. After I lost 40 hours of Skyrim due to a quest glitch, I vowed to not buy another game until they got their act together. But here I am with FO4 on pre-order. Guess I'll give them a chance anyway. But this is the last one! Maybe.

frostypants3115d ago

@UltraNova, it wouldn't be a Bethesda game if the initial release wasn't a hilarious mess. Been that way since Elder Scrolls 1.

KwietStorm_BLM3116d ago

Well I don't think he's asking for more footage because he doesn't need more footage.

soul-assassin-3116d ago

i do, would like to have footage of the U.I, draw-distance, VATS system in action. NPC interaction, map scale. I have every faith it will be great. But spending the last 3 months "just polishing" be nice to see how smooth & playable it is! lol

frostypants3115d ago

"Need"? Probably not. Technically we don't "need" to play games at all. But it would be nice.

N4Geeing3115d ago

Hell yeah I need more footage!!!!
Bring it on!! I wanna see more footage
Wouldn't hurt me one bit to see more footages! If you don't want to see more footage you don't have to see more footage no one's putting a gun to your head to see more footage!!!! Give me more footage!!!! I neeeeed it!!!

WeAreLegion3114d ago

It comes out so soon though. Why would they release more footage than they have to?

PC_603116d ago

Is it 30fps or 60fps on consoles?

nX3116d ago

Seriously?
Apart from the fact the answer is within the article and that only one of the two makes sense, there are really more important things in a Fallout game.

Bobby Kotex3115d ago

@nX in other words 30fps.

3115d ago
3115d ago
jackshiels13115d ago

I dinf it amazing how people still defend 30fps. Shooting mechanics benefit immensely from higher framerates as input lag is reduced significantly - the difference between playing CS:GO on 120 and 300fps is so stark.

Devs should aim for 60fps as standard.

3115d ago
PC_603115d ago

it amazes me consoles cannot run fallout at 60fps

JackStraw3115d ago

Lol. guy tried to compare fallout & CS. lmfao. ahahahaha. stop it.

Genuine-User3115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

@PC_60

Can a gaming PC with an Intel i3 CPU and a GTX 750 Ti 2GB GPU run this game around 1080p/60fps at console equivalent graphical settings?

frostypants3115d ago

@PC_60, consoles COULD run Fallout at 60fps, but only if they cut corners. Same as with most PCs. You think most PCs will run Fallout at 60fps without knocking a bunch of sliders way down? Now, would it be NICE if they gave console owners the option to play with graphics sliders? Yes. That's a different debate though.

frostypants3115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

@Genuine-User, the PC fanboy trolls, like all fanboy trolls will never, ever admit obvious points...in this case, that PC is a very broad platform spec and that 90% of the rigs out there can't play demanding games at 60fps at max settings. I mean it's an obvious fact, but they'll pretend they never heard you. My current PC is one I built this year and dropped $800 on (not counting the display), and there is ZERO chance in hell that it would run Fallout 4 at 60fps and 1080p without cutting some corners. I see no reason to BS about it, and anyone who hasn't spent over $1000 on their rig (based on recent hardware pricing) who says otherwise is a filthy liar.

Also, the answer to your question is "beyond highly unlikely".

I remember hearing that before Skyrim came out

DarkOcelet3116d ago

Skyrim was a real mess on PS3. But i don't expect it to be a mess here because the PS3 was really hard to work with from the beginning.

-Foxtrot3116d ago

Oh I know but the point is they still lied

Fallout 3, to New Vegas and then Skyrim

Razputin3116d ago

Guy stop.

The PS3 stop being a hassle after like 2008. Sony was working more with developers, and developers started working more with the PS3 first than the Xbox360 because it was easier to port in that fashion.

Bethesda makes good games when it comes to story and depth, but they also release shit products. Fallout 3 was abysmal on all platforms, as well as Skyrim too.

Again great games, but the quality was bad.

Mikefizzled3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

To be fair people were still struggling with PS3 in late 2009. Look at the PS3 version of Bayonetta. PlatinumGames have gone on record as that being their biggest failure.

And you know. Skyrim.

Dragonking0073115d ago

Idk if i had a golden copy or godlen console because i never ran into issues with skyrim other few times had to reboot and gotten frame rate issue but never anything game breaking and ive had two copies of skyrim one during launch time and then got it again 3 years later love the game.

nitus103115d ago

I have the Legendary Edition and the game still has problems.

The worst issue occurs when your saves reach the 6MB stage. What happens then is your auto saves take too long and the game appears to freeze. The fix for this is to turn off all auto saves although I do recommend you auto save after 30 to 60 minutes in case you forget to manually save.

Other issues are the odd slowdown and sometimes the game hangs and you have no choice but to reset.

One weird issue and one you may not notice unless you have tried a few builds is that some minor events that occur in one build don't happen or can't be completed in an other.

Overall the game is still very playable and the odd hang while still annoying is acceptable.

As for turning off auto saves it is best if you consider that auto saving are a type of nanny hand holding and real people have enough foresight to manually save especially when your follower says "I have a bad feeling about this!" :-)

I do find a manual save is important before fast travel to a town especially with Dawnguard installed. By doing this you can avoid vampire and/or dragon attacks taking out some useful NPC's such as store owners, blacksmiths and even NPC's that are part of some minor quests.

SaiyanFury3115d ago

I'm one of the biggest Skyrim fans you'll find, and I have both the PS3 and 360 versions. I don't have an opinion which version is better, all I can talk about is what I've personally observed having played through both versions. I logged probably about 4-500 hours on my 360 version, and well over 3000 total hours on my PS3. In that (short, haha) 500 hours, I encountered more glitches and loading issues on my 360 version than I've had in all of my time on the PS3. My common issues on PS3 are occasionally in the loading screen where the white mist is floating around on the bottom left part of the screen, sometimes the game will just sit there with mist floating and not load the area I was supposed to be entering. On rare occasion I've had the overworld freeze when it's loading up another section of the world. Another issue is sometimes when there's too much going on on screen, the game will sometimes freeze.

On my 360, I had very common loading problems, often 2-3 times in a day of maybe 3 hours of total play, all out in the overworld. The game would just freeze. My brother in law had the same issue on his 360 version. On my first attempt to play the game, I got to where Alduin was attacking Helgen and then the game just hung after he broke through the wall of the indoor fort you just get into. I could move the camera, and the graphics were still moving, but the game wouldn't register any control movement.

Pardon the long post, but I don't know why people complain that Skyrim was a mess on PS3. Just from personal experience, I had more issues on the 360, but that's just one man's observation. I enjoy both versions, I just enjoy the PS3's controller a little more than the 360 version. Have fun, all! :)

....not sure why your applying something that happened with PS3 to something on PS4...

Also pretty sure you stated this and someone told you the exact same thing.

PS4 actually isn't PS3...I mean I would have thought you would have known that lol

thekhurg3115d ago

But Bethesda is still Bethesda, and they have a stable history of straight up lying to gamers prior to the release of their games.

So while it's a new generation, it's still Bethesda - and until they prove they're done with the lies people have a right to be skeptical of whatever the developer says.

Femto3115d ago

fallout 3, new vegas, skyrim all had problems on the ps3 and it was due to the 2 memory pools, they only had 256mb to work with on the ps3. ps4 has wayyyyyyyyy more ram to work with so there shouldnt be any issues

Randostar3115d ago

Bethesda didn't make New Vegas. Obsidian did.

Fin_The_Human3115d ago

To be fair Vegas did use the same code source as Fall Out 3.

ColonelHugh3115d ago

They both used Oblivion's engine, and Oblivion ran superior on ps3 because of extra development time. Without a year to focus on the port, their other ps3 ports were much worse, but I think people don't really want to understand that they weren't as bad as they've been portrayed.

Skyrim was no boogeyman to ps3 owners.
-----

Stable 30 fps is more than I could ask after the Witcher set the open world bar this gen.

These days its always unsafe to buy a game at launch, especially when it is from Bethesda. I wait 6 months until the most bugs are patched out. And get the game probably a bit cheaper as a thanks for waiting as well.

nX3116d ago

I trust Bethesda more than Ubisoft or EA these days. Also for different reasons, I trust Fallout more than other Bethesda games.

kneon3115d ago

I trust Bethesda to make sure I encounter more bugs per hour than in games from any other major developer.

JackVagina3115d ago

@Kneon

Cmon this game has obviously been finished for a very long time, i believe it should be fine.

_-EDMIX-_3116d ago

Thats nice. A time where it was safe before? I don't know it.

Games have had bugs since we've had games....

I'm still getting it at launch bud, will it have issues, probably, ask me if I care? lol

I'm pretty sure we all know games will launch with some issues some where, is Witcher 3 not STILL getting patched?

smh, bet your still waiting to play what everyone has already beaten huh? lol

If your ok with that, fine. Let others be ok with buying at launch.

Hoffmann3115d ago

Sure they had bugs, but game breaking ones? Back in the PS2 era there were like 2 games I know about that got called back because they had big bugs.

In the last years we got rarely a big game that did not need 3+ patches at least to run properly.

I am rarely buying new games at launch now and have no problem that others beat them already lol.

_-EDMIX-_3115d ago

@Hoff- "
In the last years we got rarely a big game that did not need 3+ patches at least to run properly"

In the last years, we didn't have a method to fix game issues on console like on PC.

Also games got more complex, your also talking about older titles that didn't even factor a fraction of the things that now effect games.

You really think with a game as complex as theses days released on a system with no method to patch would be better? lol

We didn't get patches on console then because they had no method for it then, we also still got re-prints that actually corrected issues in other versions, and once again those game are not as complex.

Those patches are to make it run better, games are dynamic things, they can be fixed to run better all the time, hell Skyrim still gets patched, Red Dead got patched last year, TF2 STILL GETS PATCHED.

All that means is if they could patch a PS2 game then, they would.

"I am rarely buying new games at launch now and have no problem that others beat them already lol"

My point bud, yet you have a problem that others are buying them day 1?

"always unsafe to buy a game at launch"

For you bud, others actually don't have much of an issue with those bugs, evident by the huge day 1 sales.

Yui_Suzumiya3115d ago

Exactly. This is my first preorder and day 1 since Beyond: Two Souls which was a little over 2 years ago. I can't wait to dive into the wasteland and as I stated below, I never had any issues with Fallout 3 on PS3 which was a day 1 as well :3

garrettbobbyferguson3115d ago

Games are no more complex than they were a decade ago. They just have some prettier graphics.

Fro_xoxo3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

The best console version will be PS4s. The PS3 version of FO3 wasn't great but with PS4's hardware advantage, Fallout 4 should run well.

that said, it's bethesda so expectations is one thing, reality is another.

Nitrowolf23116d ago

In terms of performance it probably will, in terms of features though the x1 with mods. I know ps4 is geting it to, but theres no telling how long it will especially with beths past with microsoft and xbox

Spectre_StatusN73116d ago

Mods on both consoles will be a joke compared to PC.

Keregan3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

Both consoles version runs at 1080p/30 fps. I think the dev makes this quote because PS4 has trouble maintaining a stable fps on some recent big scale games, like W3/MGS5 etc

uptownsoul3116d ago

I know sales is a bad word. But if/when Bethesda sees the PS4 version sales, I'll bet they get mods going pretty quickly after the XB1's mods

uptownsoul3116d ago

@Keregan

"I think the dev makes this quote because PS4 has trouble maintaining a stable fps on some recent big scale games, like W3/MGS5 etc" -- Sorry, but most multiplats this generation have had better frame rates on PS4 over the XB1

Flyingdog6703116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

Mods are confirmed for ps4 too, its just coming to xbox one first lol

Edit: wait just read it again and saw i messed up, my b lmao

TheCommentator3115d ago

Lol, Uptown. Like Bethesda doesn't know PS4 sells better already. Mods are just easier to share between XB1 and PC because of DX, it has nothing to do with Bethesda's ignorance about sales.

But hey, while you're enjoying all the added gameplay that comes with your sales victory, I'll be enjoying Fallout 4, with mods, and complimentary versions of previous Fallouts too. Thanks, MS!

uptownsoul3115d ago

Lol, TheCommentator. Neither XB1 or PS4 are getting the mods till 2016 anyways. So this holiday, you'll be playing the exact same Fallout 4 I am.

And the complementary Fallout 3 GOTY your so eager for has been $12 for the past year. So, thats not that big of deal either.

FITgamer3115d ago

Well either way, most likely won't see mods on either console until mid 2016. Which is why i'm getting it on PC, i don't have the patience to wait that long.

nitus103115d ago

@Spectre_StatusN7

Yes we all know that PC's can do modes but the majority of PC and console gamers don't really care about modes.

Personally I prefer a game that I enjoy playing. Mods to me while nice are secondary.

Ignorant post saying PS4, as if nothing is better on Xbox One?
The hardware isn't everything now is it?
Xbox One special quick ram now a help and not a hinderance, DX12, Win10, the Azure Cloud, SDK update w/7th core avaiable. Next years AAA games will utilize these things and look beautiful.
That being said, please stop the fanboy post BC then I have to be a fanboy and I don't want to be.

All versions will look and play great, Bethesda has had the time. Let's not be fanboys, instead let's be fans of games period.

Fallout 4, I can't wait. I put in over 1700 hrs on Fallout 3 and I'm guessing many of is will put in more w/Fallout 4.

yomfweeee3115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

You just threw out every miracle cure claimed by MS and their fanboys, so don't be a hypocrit.

Games are still being released with inferior resolution and performance on X1 = fact.

kenwonobi3115d ago

Those are still all fairytale solutions that haven't helped not one single 3rd party games in resolution or performance against PS4.

Antifan3115d ago

TheXgamerLive3115d ago

JonnyBigBoss3115d ago

Everyone is ignoring early mod support, which to me is way more significant than any minor graphical difference there might be between console versions.

Nonetheless, I'm getting it on PC. GTX 970 for the win.

WhiteScythe3116d ago

I'm beyond excited for this game, but I am a little weary about the performance. I shouldn't have to worry that if my save file gets too big the game will start crashing and slowing down. I have the utmost faith in Bethesda to make this game amazing, but I just hope the bugs are minimal.

ColonelHugh3115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

IT'S NOT THE SAVE FILE SIZE THAT BOGS DOWN THE GAME.

Please stop spreading misinformation about this because there IS a way to help your files on each Bethesda console game.

Do not hoard-- keep what you must and Uniques, but don't keep numerous unnecessary weapons, apparel, and tons of weightless things like Aid, Misc, and Ammo. Don't just store all your goods in your home, sell what you don't need and NEVER populate the world with dropped items (especially in fallout, they won't disappear like ES).

Turn off autosaves-- especially in skyrim with it's 3 separate autosaves. You can keep one but it will hinder performance eventually, and is the primary culprit of crashes, even on PC. If you play on PC, invest in a mod for dedicated autosaves (there's a reputable, well known one, but I forgot it's name, check Nexus)

Changing the way you play if you are a hoarder like me will drastically improve gameplay at 200+ hours, trust me.

nitus103115d ago (Edited 3115d ago )

I can definitely vouch for what you said.

For those people that want to play Skyrim on the PS3 by all means let the auto saves help you for the first few hours but when you get saves that are larger than 6MB turn off all auto saves and manually save from then on.

My current build which is approaching 200 hours is very playable although I still get the odd hang and some minor events may not occur as they did in a previous build.

UltraNova3115d ago

Thanks guys for your input.

But how wrong is this ? Why do we the customers have to find so many ways to 'help' a game we bought to work('help') in order to play it?

Bethesda should have done wayyyyyy more bug testing before selling us those game, period.

How To Solve Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Performance Issue On OLED Steam Deck

Despite being verified for the Steam Deck, Fallout 4 has issues running on the OLED version of Valve's handheld device. Here's how it works.

Isn't this a better and easier work around?...

There is a partial workaround that adds the Fallout 4 launcher back  ;to the Steam Deck version of the game. Players need to add “SteamDeck=0 %command%” to Fallout 4’s launch options in the game’s settings on Steam Deck. But it’s wild and not great that players have to do this just to change visual settings while playing on Valve’s portable PC.

yup, worked for me a few hours ago

MrDead2d ago

This update on PC kills mods, they still didn't improve or fix the draw calls and if you have an RTX card the game still crashes unless you turn off debris.
So if you mod the game it now looks worse, plays worse, all of your saves are broken and the game breaking bugs are still present.

purple1012d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Good work detective

Bethesda strikes again, always thought their games were a tad boring anyway, this was even before Microsoft brought them. Used to quake 3 team arena to death, on an old pc, at the time it was new, fresh, fast paced and innovative, their games these days, are none-of-the-above

Michiel19891d 15h ago

Ever heard of a game called Doom or Wolfenstein, detective?
Also quake 3 arena was made by ID, which at the time wasn't part of Bethesda.

Profchaos1d 19h ago

Yeah I've had friends rebuy the game because the ps plus didn't work and they used to own the last gen version sold off the physical after the PS plus pack included fallout when they got the ps5.

So overall I know ms has likely warned quote a bit from this error.

Barlos1d 11h ago

This game hasn't aged well. I was really looking forward to the update, but I'm just not enjoying it. I never did get on with the settlement building and raiders, and I still don't. I won't be going back to this now.

mkis0071d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

Settlement stuff was way undercooked. Too many settlements and QOL updates are needed, and can only be added by mods...which disable achievements. The game does 2 things better than past games: Gunplay and scavenging.

Profchaos1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

Have to agree settlement stuff was boring and dull but I loved the game outside of that still do. But next to other games is it's era like witcher 3 it always felt a little stuck in the mid 2000s
