Well done. Soma deserve more love.

dead_pixels3162d ago

Evidently it's getting plenty. :D

I actually bought it the second it was available on the store but I havnt played it yet. Too caught up with MGS5 and FIFA 16 at the moment. A game like soma deserves my full attention. Once I finish metal gear I'll be taking the plunge. I need to mentally psych myself up for these types of games. Alien isolation was traumatizing in the best way possible. I would play for a half hour and remove my headset with jittery hands and have a smoke while pacing on my porch because it was so intense. I hope soma provides the same type of reaction.

Just finished it today and can quite honestly say despite the ps4 version being pretty bad technically, the story in particular and its atmosphere has put it in the running for my personal GOTY. Absolutely fantastic game with such a thought provoking story and interesting lore. Highly recommend this game.

Shadowgate3162d ago

Not very scary so far but some intense parts has a dead space vibe to it IMO.

kranker3162d ago

Its scary in a more unconventional way. While it doesnt have the spine-chilling terror of frictionals amnesia tdd it builds it up gradually through the story and if your a thinking person can have you reeling at times as you uncover the lore through various interactions in the gameworld. Definately one of best games this year in terms of its themes and story.

Crashbandicoot773162d ago (Edited 3162d ago )

Actually the recent update improved the PS4 technically! It also similar to Alien Isolation

ghostface93162d ago

looks awesome is there any chance of it coming to x1 or is it ps4 exclusive

dead_pixels3162d ago

As far I know those are the only two platforms, but it'd be great to see the game make its way onto the Xbox One as well.

Christopher3162d ago

They didn't put it on XBO due to funding. So, if they get enough money from sales of the game, it will definitely find its way to XBO.

Crashbandicoot773162d ago (Edited 3162d ago )

I don't think Microsoft is really into indie games without multiplayer. Microsoft rejected RIME and let that game go because it didn't have mutiplayer.

Christopher3162d ago (Edited 3162d ago )

@Crashbandicoot77: MS isn't really in the say whether they will or won't allow a game on their platform unless they're funding it themselves or it doesn't meet their criteria as far as adult content material in the game.. So, I doubt there will be any issue at all with SOMA going to XBO if the developer isn't seeking any funding from MS.

Crashbandicoot773161d ago (Edited 3161d ago )

Not saying it won't happen but I guarantee it will be a long wait. Probably a year or two from now after Fictional games makes enough profit. Or they might use that money to make a new game. And like you said I don't think Soma met their criteria. Microsoft is focus on single player games with multiplayer and not just single player games when it comes to indie games.

lipton1013161d ago

I hope it hits Xbox one. I'm a huge horror fan and I'd be so dissapointed right now if I were unable to play this game. All horror fans need to experience genuinely frightening horror games. PT and alien isolation were the most intense gaming experiences I've ever had. I hope soma fits in there with them.

Lonnie183162d ago

Or they could use that money for some dlc, and research into their next game.

lipton1013161d ago

Investing in an X1 version will only bring more revenue for them to put towards their next game. I'm an equal opportunity gamer - your choice of system, in this day and age, shouldn't limit the games you play with the exception of first party exclusives. I caught a tinge of fanboy in that comment but I could be mistaken

So much less than it deserves.

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.

Island, Steins;Gate Elite and Soma.

MadLad359d ago

Soma is an epic experience.

jznrpg358d ago (Edited 358d ago )

Does ISLAND have English subs ? I can’t find a copy that says it has English subs for PS only the Switch version which I rather not buy .

Love Steins Gate and Soma

shinoff2183358d ago (Edited 358d ago )

FRom what i could find. Nothing with English subs.

Yui_Suzumiya357d ago

I own a physical copy on Switch and it does have English subtitles so it's all good on Switch and Playstation.

Yui_Suzumiya357d ago (Edited 357d ago )

My bad. Steam and Switch have English but PS4 and Vita only have Japanese. Sony doesn't mess with many visual novels which is why I only own a Switch OLED and laptop for all my games.

A lot of my favourites are on this list so I whole heartedly approve.
Everything except The Observer. It started out really interesting but quickly unraveled into a train wreck. Including frustratingly dull dives into mind sequences, They neutered the monster with boring on rail stealth sequences and a laughably obvious and cringeworthy ending. Mix in bugs and some wonky controls to boot.
I had really strong impressions with it to start but ended up absolutely hating it.

isarai568d ago

I got 2-3hrs in and couldn't take it anymore, the constant need to switch between the 3 visions just became so annoying and honestly just unnecessary.

monkey602568d ago

I actually agree. At first I thought it was a great idea because the game wasn't holding your hand with the Detective work but it was so unintuitive too. It became a sequence of staring at everything for long enough in 3 different vision modes just to see what stuck.

Yui_Suzumiya568d ago

Soma would be more existential horror than anything but I'll be damned if it didn't have one of the best stories in game that I've experienced. Blew my mind.
