Sony BMG has pirate software license

A small software company has carried out a raid on Sony BMG and found it is using a pirated license for software.

The software company was alerted to the pirate licenses when an employee from the company requested technical support for the programme.

I am in too minds about this story. Yes it is believable that Sony would use pirated software. You would be hard pushed to find any company that has 100% legit software on their machines.

However having said that you have to look at the source of the story. Now from what I can see Centennial Software seem to be in the business of selling software to monitor what you have installed on company computers. So it is in their interest to "big" this story up and make a bigger deal about it than it should necessarily be.

Also I am not too sure on some of the "facts" in the story, this sentence particularly :-

"A small software company has carried out a raid on Sony BMG and found it is using a pirated license for software."

Now I am not in the software business but I think it is pretty unheard of a software company doing a raid to investigate piracy!!!!! At the very least Sony BMG could have had them ejected from the premises on the grounds of trespass.

Still if it is the case that Sony BMG did have 4 copies of this companies software on their servers it's a pretty bad show for them and could have been prevented.
