Forza 6 im surprised how much of a difference the track visuals look and the cars.

Very clean looking game. The cockpits in forza 6 are very good looking.

"also some details are absent in Forza Motorsport 6 which we'll assume is down to adding those extra weather details and opponents and to maintain the steady 60 frames per second at 1080p. "

Some ai crowds and object stands being moved from the side lines i highly doubt is to maintain 60 fps.

If you look at the rio track theres tons of people in the track and lots of objects.

Even hang gliders, planes landing, etc.

bunt-custardly3181d ago

I'm going to agree with the article. If you look at the track side detail you can clearly see it consists of animated flags and people in Forza 5. What other reason would you give then for Turn 10 to remove these from Forza 6 if they weren't impacting the performance? Why mention the Rio circuit when the video is focusing on verbatim locations?

KingKionic 3181d ago

Because rio is the newest track added to forza 6 and has more objects, crowds, and stuff going on in the background.

To make a statement saying its because of the rain and maintain 60 fps they had to remove some stands and crowds just doesnt make sense after there are other tracks with more objects as well as crowds.

For example the track prague

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

It has way more crowds and objects then bernase alps.

No performance lost.

bunt-custardly3181d ago

I would think each track renders objects differently and is optimized accordingly which would explain why Rio (a new track) has the things you've mentioned.

I ask you again though. Give me reason why Turn 10 would remove assets from the track detail if it wasn't tied to performance. Surely they didn't say, "oh it looks so much better with less track side detail, let's roll with that".

Gazondaily3181d ago

What? You mean those 2d crowds were affecting performance?

The game looks better than its predecessor for sure. With 24 players, weather effects and 3d puddles, I don't think many 2d cut outs will be missed or make a massive difference.

Bigpappy3181d ago

Who do you work for dude. You are trying to hard to down play this game. The game speaks for itself. Have you seen the DF frame rate test on this bad boy? It doesn't ever flinch for 60FPS. Looks and preforms better than any racer in its class, and you are going to complain about no having enough 2D cutouts. Go play the demo or clean up around the house if you can't find anything constructive to do. You are in every Forza tread complaining about the greatest technical achievement for a racer on console so far. Why is that?

bunt-custardly3181d ago

Leave it out Bigpappy.

Me responding to comments in just TWO articles does not equal me in "EVERY Forza tread complaining about the greatest technical achievement for a racer on console so far."

All I've said here is I agree with the article that trackside objects were removed (in these two videos) probably because of performance. No one has managed to explain a reason why Turn 10 removed stuff if performance isn't the issue.

I've not said anything about what I think of the actual game so get off the case please.

Gazondaily3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

@bunt

"no one has managed to explain a reason why Turn 10 removed stuff if performance isn't the issue. "

No one gives a toss about 2D crowds. There's your explanation. 👍

jetlian3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

Bunt is right and its also because FZ6 has 50% more cars on the track. Rio cant be compared since FZ5 doesnt have the track

I'm getting the game in a few hours and played 40 hours on FZ5 during that free weekend. Overall FZ6 looks better and the sense of speed is greater too.

I dont care if it has no crowds still the best racing game. I had only two racers last gen FZ3(free with slim) and blur which I paid for.

I normally dont care for racers but after playing the demo and feeling the hydroplaning I had to buy it

FlexLuger3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

Whats with this fixation with 3D crowds?..here you go 3d spectators near trackside...but hey...lets focus on 2d crowds...waaaaaay over in the rafters...to hell with the fact that so much more is going on at 1080P 60 fPS, right? To hell with the fact that the physics engine is updating at 360 times per second for all 24 cars on that track..rain or shine. Night or day. lets forget about those facts because 3D crowds are now what defines a realistic racer...right?...since when did racing games become assasins creed?

But whatever..have some 3D crowds courtsey of forza standing right next to the track...that you still dont pay any mind to while watching your corners, rear view and revs....Lets talk about how we are watching the crowds while trying to keep an asssistless, fully simulated AMG GT from throwing me, or you into a fully 3D tyre wall made up of indiual tyres that get jammed under your and others cars..causing crashes...that actually impact the race...

http://www.forzamotorsport....

but forget about that...lets talk about why its more important to have 3D crowds that have ZERO importance on racing...Gotta love these forza haters.

http://www.forzamotorsport....

http://www.forzamotorsport....

Do we need to have 3D rendered crowd in the rafters behind the track up in stands? are you actually looking for such details at 130+ MPH??

Septic answered it perfectly

"No one gives a toss about 2D crowds. There's your explanation. 👍"

Its the best racer out there ...and yet that is not good enough for haters and naysayers who dont own an xbox? Nuff said....

tuglu_pati3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

Some minor differences here and there. F6 IQ look a bit cleaner, slightly better textures overall. Both suffer pretty bad from aliasing. In some parts they even look the same and IMO Vista Mode looks better on F5 specially the interior.

Dee_913181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

The RIO track doesn't have weather nor night racing. You'd assume Forza fans / owners to know this right?
GT5 removed crowds from certain tracks to maintain a stable frame rate. Some tracks require higher computing/ more optimization than others. Assetto Corsa for example, I think it was turn 4 of Imola that caused frame drops, though there was no noticeable detain difference in that section of the track, that certain area required more optimization than the rest of the track.
I don't see anyone saying detailed crowds are necessary, so why all the " you no like 2d crowds gtoh!" comments? Nobody's attacking your precious. Calm down Septic and ilk. They removed an unnecessary performance hit. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

me-timerrr3180d ago (Edited 3180d ago )

They did the same thing to me in a recent FM6 article. They believe anything critical said about this franchise is one way of trashing it. FM6 looks like it's a hell of a lot better than FM 5, but it's not the game changing type of game they're making it out to be. The static rain, overdone puddles on real world circuits instead of only having those race-delaying track SURFACE conditions on original tracks which would be more practical and then the static night races are good, but is it good enough? Rain and night racing, which are separated, not done concurrently on any track, is still a step in the right direction.

I've known for the longest time how the FM community is and they're a big reason why I was put off from getting FM4 and there was no reason at all to give FM5 a second thought with its forced release factoring in how very cheap it is, especially in hindsight and when comparing it to FM6.

It's laughable that anyone could have defended the launch release of such a shiny/superficial game for the sake of making it a selling point for the x1. FM6 does that SLIGHTLY with the puddles and static rain and night racing in entirely too limited scenarios, but like I said, it's still a step in the right direction.

LifeInNZ3181d ago

Really? The take away from this terrible comparisson is there are less trackside flags!?! Better avoid this disaster of a game then /s

therevolution3181d ago

The cardboard crowds from Forza 5 was one of the most criticized aspects of the game by reviewers and the public. Getting rid of them allows the developer nail other details, generating 3d crowds or polishing something they already have assets for would be a waste of time and resources.

Xbonewone320153181d ago

False.

Sony fanboys nitpicked the 2d crowds.

Everybody else enjoyedd the fine racing.

therevolution3181d ago

@Xbonewone32015 Yeah, while driving at high speeds I wasn't really paying attention to the crowds, it was fan boy flame war ammo. I must say, Driveclub's focus on cars and environments though made for a spectacular looking game, and I think Turn 10 wanted to keep the focus where it belongs, on the track

tgunzz3181d ago

When have critiques like this, then you know you kow that you have made an amazing game...

Justiceleague3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

I'm surprise that it's still sitting under 90 on metacritic and gamerankings.com. I really thought this would be the first game over 90 on the Xbone especially with 57 reviews.

CartBlanche3180d ago

@FlexLuger if you and other Forza fans are *only* interested in the driving part, and don't care about the bells and whistles like crowds, which I think are there to add atmosphere, then you might as well strip it back to just basics. A track, some rain and light and dark, job done. No need for Turn 10 to spend money on recreating a 3D back drop either. Or flags that wave in the wind. It might as well be a 2D image. Like in the old days. That way you just focus on the driving part which you only care about.
Go ahead make a game like, see how it sells!!

So which is forza and which is forza 5 in the comparison lol

Sureshot3181d ago

Try taking off the fanboy goggles. That might help differentiate between the two

3181d ago
tuglu_pati3181d ago

I kind of agree with Enyxodin the differences are not big enough, one could get a bit confused.

In my eyes each and every Forza improved upon its predecessor. This game is no exception look how beautiful it looks and plays can't wait to get my hands on it this evening. Note thinking of jumping on purchasing steering wheel and peddle any recommendations?

Top 10 Rarest Cars in Forza History

KeenGamer: "See the top 10 rarest cars to ever appear in Forza history! Thousands of cars have been featured in Forza since launch and only a handful of them have been really difficult to obtain or, in current state, impossible to drive around with. Although they were once obtainable, it's only for a limited time and, most times, for a certain price."

What's the benefit of delisting games? Curious.

Italiano12345671750d ago

Theres no benefit. They just dont renew the licenses for the songs and cars so after the 15th u cant buy it

mandingo1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Oh licenses. That makes sense. So if you have it digitally already you can still play it you just cant buy it?

Cobra9511750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Yeah, the expiring-licenses thing is a blight on the scene. There literally ought to be a law. Once something is licensed for a product, it should never become an impediment later on. Simple consumer protection. In racing games, both the cars and the music would be locked in place. The developer can't add newer car models, or different songs. I don't see why that would hurt the profits of car companies or artists. Newer games would have to license the newer cars and songs, or even the same ones.

Edit: mandingo, that's right.

rainslacker1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Saving on licensing costs.

@cobra

They could pay more for perpetual licenses, but after 4 years, chances are they arent going to be making much of a return on the game anymore.

lodossrage1750d ago

again, a music license issue. This is the same reason Driveclub is getting delisted next year.

I'm sorry, but if music rights can be the cause of a product being delisted, they need to either have unlicensed music because this is ridiculous. This is actually another reason to be concerned about an all-digital future.

bolimekurac1750d ago

or hopefully when ugly things stick their head out like this music license issue, that the companies do the right thing and find a solution so this doesnt happen, then we can complain if they dont. Digital games is fairly new so why dont we first see if the companies fix these issues that pop up. not that we shouldnt be heard and to let them know about these issues but at least lets not attack them for no reason

lodossrage1750d ago

@bolimekurac,

They've already had years to deal with this. This isn't the first instance of license music altering a game in some form. Crazy Taxi wasn't even allowed to be released with the original soundtrack and many of the real world stores in the game were cut for licenses.

I know it's not exactly' the same, but the issues is close enough that the industry as a whole should have realized this would be a problem even back in the ps3/ 360 era win crazy taxi was re-released for modern day.

traumadisaster1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Oh crap idk about drive club, I’m so glad you mentioned it, and I just happen to be in this article. I’ve been wanting that game but was waiting until ps5 to get it. Now i need to check into this cause hell I’ll buy it now if I need to.

It looks like there is a hard copy version, so I can pick that up cheap, the online stuff which I don’t usually do is what goes away in 2020, and it can’t be bought on psn

KickSpinFilter1750d ago

Oh you should def get Driveclub such a great game now after server/updates. One of my all time fav racers. Nice mix of Arcade/Sim. Not Sim, Arcade or Sim/Arcade.

rainslacker1750d ago

I'd highly recommend bikes if you get driveclub. Lots of fun. The vr version is also good if you have psvr.

About the only thing you're going to lose with the delisting is the online functions as well. Driveclub is playable in SP with lots of content though. It's just being part of a club and user challenges or throw downs won't be available after they shut down the servers.

DaDrunkenJester1750d ago

Or it's not that big of a deal since it's a long running franchise and there is already the newer versions you can still buy. If you already own FM6 you can still play it.

spicelicka1750d ago

This is a definitely a huge concern for an all-digital future. Along the fact that they can control whatever price they want you to pay even 5 years later, like Destiny and Call of Duty. You can't even buy the original games anymore, they just re-bundle them and force you to pay full price again.

WiiU-Dude1750d ago

It happens in other entertainment too. I have seen DVD series held up for years because of music licensing issues. It is annoying. I agree with the person that it should be a one time deal. With the creation of a product, things like music licensing should be done with that product going forward. Such a headache apparently.

There’s at least 3 people who like games being delisted; never to be played again.

But you still have to download the data unfortunately...…..

I just bought this a few months ago on a very cheap sale, then I think recently it was added to game pass.
